Simply asking if it is necessary. The con of not having a walk interaction is pretty big, but maybe there's another way to overcome it that is not coming to my mind right now. Or maybe there are way more cons than I am thinking of.

I remember this coming up a bit in discussions about two-button and one-button interface systems, but I could do with a refresher.

In my perspective:
There are very few adventure game puzzles that make use of the exact location of the player on screen
Player characters moving about can block stuff in the background and cause complications when you want the player character to be clickable
It can make interfaces more complicated than the need be (as evidenced by those aforementioned interface system discussions

Unfortunately, all those cons are balanced out by a very important pro:
Being able to control the player character gives the player a greater amount of connection to the player character, and reduces the layers between the player and the character on screen (I feel direct control with arrow/WASD keys would actually increase that connection)

I can think of a few games where the character was not walkable on screen. I mean, aside from the obvious first person perspective games like Myst. They were very often investigative games, where the player character stood outside of the frame of the screen, and "shared" the world with the player/viewer.

Yup, thanks!

Although seeing it now, I question the usefulness of any of those resources, with the last update being 14 years ago

This link on this page is broken.
It was brought up before, but never addressed.

I actually had a dream last night that included turning people down when they tried to shake my hand.  :-\
Shouldn't be a dream at this point  :-D

A bunch of games free on itch.io: https://itch.io/games/on-sale

Any fellow AGSers? "Where the Water Tastes like Wine" and "Milkmaid of the Milky way" have been on the periphery of my radar before.

They're all very different styles, so it is hard to give generic feedback pertaining to them all, but I will say that for the backgrounds that make use of perspective (I see it easily in marketplace, office and room1, because the textures you use don't line up with the perspective), you have a lot of perspective issues that would be jarring for players.

If you want general advice to improve your process, please share your process!

The top seems too pointy to be correct. It's like you're looking at it from an angle at the base, but when you move to the top, it's looking at it straight on.

Loud typers. There's few things that get more on my nerves than some idiot hammering at their keyboard like a 3-year old banging on a toy laptop. I hope there's a special place in hell for them where they will go no matter what else they did in life.
The funniest I've noticed (with multiple people, so I suspect it is a thing) is Enter-slammers. Their typing is going all normally, and then suddenly...WHAM!
tptptptptptptptpptptptpptptp...WHAM!

Why slam enter? :D

As for what grinds my gears, because I just saw it in "Lost in Space" (a show someone recommended to me as great), is scientist people, intelligent people, smart people, getting to a new planet or new piece of rock in space, and then immediately (or in the first few moments possible), taking off their helmets, and having one guy be all "Oh no, why did you do that!", and the reply being "Oh, the air is safe!".

Very often, even in the same episode, everyone later comes down with a "mysterious" illness, and they're all stupefied as to how that could have happened, and yet they do it again in a later episode.

And so there were a lot of very interesting entries, I hope the participants add their games here, or at least tease them like me.

You can basically tell the entire plot from that screenshot. I'll try working on it more, and post something presentable instead of what I got in 1 hour.

PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE
Sorry for the late notice.
We're doing an hourgame right now (give or take a few min), and the theme was the same theme as this MAGS. GO GO GO!  :=

As long as the overall picture works, I don't really mind clashing 'pixel styles'.

However, your 'flip object to create its shadow' style doesn't work. It kind of warps and messes up how the eyes comprehend the perspective. I'd suggest simply having the area directly at the base of each item (mostly tree trunks for the trees) just shaded to represent the shadow.

Sorry for the late notice to everyone, should've planned better to have more people join, but us geeks spent Saturday night on an artjam!
The theme was 'Train Station', and the entries were:

Hi eri0o!
morgan directed me to this for a problem I was having. I'll download and investigate it tomorrow, but I am curious, does this also cater to dialogue options (I care more about default, it seems with your GUI handling, it probably does custom).

General Discussion / Colourblindness?
Wed 18/09/2019 18:51:03
Discussion popped up on IRC where one fellow insisted "I've never met anyone with colourblindness in my life!", and I told him "A colourblind person has most definitely played your game". So the results are probably going to be matching world statistics (unless there's something unique about Adventure gamers I don't know), but I thought some awareness would be cool.
I know at least one colourblind AGSer game developer who has very pretty games, but I'm sure there are more.
Also, including that last option is probably going to skew things  :undecided:

Here's a helpful image I found (and a horrible colour palette I will now be using for my game := ). If you have some form of colourblindness, I guess the first image will look like one of the others:

No other ideology in history have demanded that handicapped people should be executed just for being handicapped.
Completely unrelated to the topic at hand, and they weren't exactly beacons of morality either, but I think the Spartans did that too.

Also kind of unrelated to the topic at hand (at this point I don't think that can be helped), but that article Ali linked was quite eye-opening for me. I've heard that sort of stuff often enough before, but aside from feeling on a subconscious level that there was something off with responding to a statement on Nazi atrocities with "But Communism!", I usually just shrugged it off as "Well, that's a person who thinks about stuff differently from me. Maybe it is just left-leaning vs right-leaning".

It is interesting how such memes spread. I'm pretty sure I've heard it from people who aren't the least bit Eastern European. Also odd to me how such things get attached to politics. such that people are fighting left vs right on topics completely unrelated to whether the state should own the means of production or it should be in the hands of private owners.

Örebro is a city with 117,543 inhabitants, the seat of Örebro Municipality and the capital of Örebro County in Sweden. It is the seventh largest city in Sweden and one of the largest inland hubs of the country. It is located near the lake of Hjälmaren, although a few kilometres inland along the small river Svartån.
Considering that Goteborg is the 2nd largest city in Sweden and it just seemed to be large swathes of nobody, seventh largest probably means mostly empty :D

Then at the end of the dream I was trying to get home on time for my exam. Which was also weird because I already graduated earlier this month.
It's been years since I've had any formal education, and those dreams don't stop  :=

Everyone loves talking about their dreams!
(listening to others, less so, stereotypically :D)

It's hard for me to describe my dreams, because they don't usually follow reality or logic. For example, one time, the Zamar Elyph was coming. What is Zamar Elyph? No idea. What was the Zamar Elyph going to do? No idea. Why was I waiting for the Zamar Elyph? Dunno. I just knew I was stressing out, running around with a paper that said "Zamar Elyph".
Or another time, I was exploring inside my carpet, and it was a nightmare for some unexplained reason (I don't usually have nightmares. Have had maybe less than 15 in my life, so each one is pretty memorable).

Conversely, MY mind still always operates on some weird logic in my dreams. So, for example. even the dreams where I am flying, I know it is not possible, so I actually end up gliding along and picking up updrafts to get higher.
