Gut feeling: Movie will suck.

I've been toying with the idea of creating such a game.

In other words, I think this is a very good idea for a game. You can make something interesting and unusual that way.

Maybe both KQ2 thread featuring RPGC's classic silliness? That was so fun.

Interestingly, I have seen a program about investigating journalist Jack Andersson on History channel just today. His research has shown links between the Mob, Fidel Castro and the JFK assassination.

What's the difference between verb coin and verb box?

Verb box is MI2, verb coin is MI3.

I like the verb coin the most as it doesn't waste space. My second favourite is the verb box, due to its many possibilites.

Although I have not seen Casablance, I doubt Grim Fandango is a parody. The idea of a parody is to make fun and mock, and Grim Fandango is so much more than that.

"and I agree, that things are heading the wrong way." barcik says

what's the right way? this is a general forum for whatever, you want to talk about something serious do it, you don't want to then don't. to post a state of the forums thread is like pointing out a problem you see and not actually trying to fix it

why not instead of doom mongering you post an interesting thread that people may want to think about that would "raise the level of the forums" or whatever you feel is necessary

You are right, Eric, I was too harsh with my words.
And I too intend to post something big, as soon as I get of my lazyass.

The feeling of a little cozy community is indeed gone, and well, there's nothing to do about it.

Also, I think a lot of the criticism doesn't exist because of the quality, but because of the quantity. Gen forum is like a busy hive now. But, hey, you are right, Eric, no use to rant about it. My apologies.

Oh, and one more thing. I hate you LasNaranjas.

I was astounded on reading Terry Brook's first Shannara trilogy that he had somehow essentially copied Tolkein (right down to the winged riders), and not only got away with it, but was praised highly for it! So I wouldn't worry too much about plagiarism, especially not in an amateur adventure game.

And what shit that was! I couldn't take it past the 50th page.

I think what you described above is not 'stealing', not even 'borrowing', but inspiration. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Each great work, even the most original is inspired by something. Let's take Sir Tolkien's work for example. The man pretty much created the classical fantasy genre. But did he create it from scratch? No. His works were inspired largely by many myths, such as the Nordic ones. Many of the elements in The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit are very similar to elements in ancient myths. But does this make his work unoriginal? I very much doubt so.

To sum it all up, there is nothing wrong with inspiration.
