Pffft,
Not as sad as trying to think of a company name and deciding on something with a 'tech' on the end...
*AHEM*

Well, now for general hates:
Escape puzzles: "You are stuck in room. Escape."

Oh my word Zor... I never knew!
Hang on... I've just thought of something...

It took me ages to find AGS!
I'd played The Secret of Monkey Island and loved it.
I then spent FOREVER trying to find something that let you make a game like it.
I downloaded: 'The Games Factory', *cough*
Game Maker, *No comment*
I even started trying to learn pure script
but I soon got bored of making red little balls bounce along an unnecessary glamorous wall...
And then, somehow, I found it on some strange site listing a whole lotta games! The moment I saw the site - with the 5 Days a Stranger screenie on, I knew it... I'd found my program.
:'( And I promised myself I wouldn't cry...

BTW Zor, I hope ur reading all of these! Coz if ur skipping over some poor guy's AGS story you really need ur bum smacked!

Yes that is a good thought. You don't want to reveal pics of where you live in case some wacked out sexual predator decides to pay you a visit...

Oh my God!!! Zor just described himself.
He's threatening you dude.
Run away.

Bite me Zor.

Kay, sorry guys.
Like I said, fairly new.  ???
Gonna read over the rules and I'll post here when I sort it all out.
Thanks.
(Oh yeah, it is a bit like The Count of Monte Cristo isn't it?)

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to talk about this game I'm making with Zor.
I'm fairliy new to AGS so this is gonna be my first proper game.
Okay... So...
It's set in the time just after Napoleon was exiled. Our hero, whatever his name is, is falsley accused of aiding the banished Napoleon and is sent to this real awful prison to rot. Naturally, the player must escape. Not only the prison, but the island as well. It's gonna be a fairly short game but with some good puzzles.
What do you guys think?
Can anyone think of a cool name?

Good point Zor,
I agree.
Um... lec?

I also liked the MI3 GUI. Basically, I think a GUI should be smart, as small as possible and cleverly placed. You see, in MI3 a right click brings up the GUI. At least then it doesn't get in the way. In games like 'Apprentice' (which was a really good game) the GUI pops up every time your cursor hovers over the bottom of the screen. This can get REALLY annoying and almost ruins the game for the player.
The GUI should be a well thought out factor in making a game because it can really add or take from the overall gameplay.

5 Days a stranger.
Let's just say it left a good impression.

Monkey Island 3
How did I pick it out of the other MI games we all know so well?..
They all rule and this one just looks the best so...
Billy's logic.

How about that puzzle in "Apprentice II" where you had to use the potion on yourself to make yourself inanimate and get into the book? Who comes up with this stuff?!?!
#217
Also, who will you take the pictures of?
Friends? Family?
#218
Eurika! She works!!!
Thanks alot. I was trying to put the '1' in brackets as opposed to '=1'.
Thanks for the help.

Yep... I found it in global script, but now what should I do?
I tried typing the game.ambient_sound_persist thing before, after, in between, you name it. It still won't work.
Am I missing something here?

Beginners' Technical Questions / Ambient sound
Tue 28/09/2004 21:50:08
The other day I figured out how to use this ambient sound thing to make a sound play in the background. However...
Whenever it changes rooms, the sound obviously has to start over again. As you can imagine, this sounds pretty weird on the game.
So, I searched the manual and I found this helpful titbit:
game.ambient_sounds_persist
According to the manual, if I set this to (1), the sound should play through the rooms. The only problem is that I don't know where to type all of this in.
In the global script?
I don't have a clue.
I'd really appreciate some help.
Thanks.
