I get Spiteful Loner, but my gentle/brutal score is right on the borderline, so I'm almost a robot. Maybe a robot with chainsaws for arms...

I think the reason the characters look weird is that they're too big. In the other versions of the painting, the characters are only about half as tall as the back window. In yours their heads almost reach the top of it. If you can resize the characters I think it would help a lot.

I signed up a few days ago. Thanks, Hyde.

Larry Vales is a DOS game, so it won't play sound properly in modern versions of Windows.  I'm pretty sure new drivers won't help, since they're even less likely to support DOS.  The best thing to do is try to run the game with a newer (windows) version of the engine, like Strazer said.

You can do it without a plugin.  Like I said, Gilbert made an example. I just don't remember where to download it.  I was kind of hoping Gil would show up so I could be lazy and not search for it myself.

You can already make paralax foregrounds using overlays. I think Gilbert had a simple demo showing how do do it at one point.

Paralax backgrounds is a different story, though.  I guess you could use really huge objects, but that would obviously be way too slow.

I just tried Ghormak's program, and it'll definitely make things a lot easier. I make my palettes up as I go, almost as an afterthought, so everything is just sort of jumbled together in no particular order. And Dorcan's program looks like it can do especially cool things. I hope we get to see it soon.  I think it's great how everyone makes their own AGS-related stuff that's dedicated to doing one thing really well. High fives for everyone!

AGS taught me how to survive alone in the wilderness. And how to make Texas Toast.

I have awoken from my year-long coma to let everyone know that I use palettes.
Usually I export the original AGS palette (the first 17 locked colors), and then open the PCX file in whatever program (photoshop or PSP work fine), then add the colors I want, and import it back into AGS. It automatically converts them from the 256-value format to the 64 values.

The lower resolution is just for slower computers. I don't see why someone with a faster computer would want to use the lower resolution anyway (since, as you say, it looks crappy).. So I wouldn't worry about it.

The blurring is a good idea.. I think you should use less of it though. Right now it's distracting from the foreground, which I'm sure isn't what you had in mind..

Does the sound play outside of AGS?

Click on the "Game" menu

Select "Produce DOS EXE."

Save your game.

In my opinion, it's more realistic because the actions available to you are potentially unlimited.. Of course, we know that you can't do anything that the game hasn't been programmed to do. But a good designer will know what the player is most likely to try, and add responses to those things.. Using a mouse is more natural, but it also puts everything you can do right there on the screen. A parser lets YOU choose, your only limit being your vocabulary.

Remember, though-- I'm talking about an absolutely perfect parser, that's been tested and retested so that almost no command from the player is left unanswered. There aren't many games with that much attention to detail.. and I know Enclosure doesn't even come close. But don't blame AGI  ;)

Not sure, but this works for me (I have a sony still camera, which should be similar):

Just plug in your camera with the USB cable, click on "My Computer" and select "Removable Disk," then your movies should be in one of the folders there, in MPG or AVI format..

I'd like to see a point and click version, since the AGI interface sucks.
But only if the creators wised up and made one :)

The AGI interface doesn't suck. A parser is still the most transparent (and realistic) way to interact in a game. If AGI has any faults, it's in the graphics/sound department, but I think Enclosure does a great job within those limits..

So no remakes.. Make a new parser game in AGS instead :=

Can't you crop out an individual footstep with an audio editor? Use something like Audacity..

What format was the WAV before you made it an OGG? Seems to me it would only get bigger if it was an extremely low quality wav (like 8-bit, 8000khz) to begin with, or if the file was already compressed using a different method..
