I consider no games after Link To The Past to be any part of the Zelda Cannon.  I don't know why this is pertinent.

ANYWAY...... with some work, you'll be on your way.  Let's see some more, shall we?

I think it's like Rebel without a Cause how they made the motorcycle gangs appear ... totally feeding off of a stereo type of how the masses envision those people.

I should point out that the director of Rebel Without a Cause, Nicholas Ray, researched the movie by riding around with several LA gangs, so it's not exactly feeding off a stereotype of how people envision them. Also, the film used one or two real gang members to teach other James Dean how to street fight. If anything, RWAC is a more accurate movie than most.

You also have to take into account how exposition and character development of movies in the 1960's was handled.  Rebel condensed a lot of teen angst into one day and night.  Now a days, that film would be told over, most likely, a set of days or weeks.

The movie was terrible, and thus funny, and also Dan Aykroyd is one of the funniest people ever.

That should be clearer.

Did you ever see "Sneakers" with Dan Akyrod and Robert Redford?  More hacker madness from the 90's!

As for special effects......

Stan Winston is a genius.  We wouldn't have good looking special effects if he didn't make them.  People like him, Gene Warren Jr. at Fantasy, or Richard Edlund..... they made the industry standards for what we judge as good special effects.

And let's not forget the king, Ray Harryhausen.  Hail to the king, baby.

School.

Hahah.

School...... wow.  In a year and half, it will have been 10 years since I graduated High School.  I know there's a few folks here that are in similar boats.  Man, time passes quick.

I saw it too. I thought it was pretty neat.. But obviously was watered down. I'm hoping the decision to keep it PG-13 was made AFTER shooting....

I think it was.  You can tell that the gorier sequences, and some language, were edited out.  Or for language alternate takes were used.

how about more guitar-oriented jazz? do you people have any suggestions?

Like I said, Grant Green.  King of Funk Guitar.

Also, John McLaughlin, Paco DeLucia, Al DiMeola.  Check them out.

Django Reinhardt, french gypsy guitarist.

And for a fun Jazz guitar film, see "Sweet and Lowdown".

So yeah, suggestions anyone?

Check out "Blue Train" by John Coltrane

Or anything by Charlie Parker.  Any record with Eric Dolphy as well.

In later Jazz, start with Miles Davis, Bitches Brew.  Then "On The Corner", "Agharta" and "Live:Evil" all by Miles Davis.

My personal favorite: Grant Green, "Live At Lighthouse"

Look up the song "Windjammer"  It's a great jazz tune.

Education is in the hands of who chooses to want it, I guess.

If you want to learn, and to know, you will.

Saw it this weekend.

It was everything I expected.  So I enjoyed it.

For a PG-13 rated movie, it was plenty violent, although one could tell it WAS cut (particularily, it was flash cut - the gore was there, but it never lingered on it.  2 milloseconds of screen time, usually) for violence.  But it was a decent sci-fi/action flick.

If you want great acting and a good plot, rent "The Godfather".  If you wanna see two intergalactic beasts fight, see Alien vs. Predator.

I'm not going to a doctor so he can touch [me] and then tell me there's nothing wrong, because that's what doctors always do to me.

Yeah.  I used to say that kind of stuff too.  Until my doctor told me my kidney's were as usefull as an inflatable dart board.

Uh, anyway, not like that's gonna happen to you.  Geez.  I agree with Dart there; sounds like a Charlie Horse problem.  But you should make sure it's not clots in your legs.  Those can be very dangerous.

Finally, I will actually expand the intro to show Alexander's kidnapping. Did you know that the original KQ3 was ill-received at first because people didn't get the link to the other KQ games?

May I ask why?

Isn't a part of the game learning who Gwydion is? Not knowing who you are or why you're the slave of a wizard?

Agreed.  Not knowing your Graham's son is important to the story.

I know most that will play this ALREADY know, but I'm sure there will be plenty of newcomers playing it for the first time.

In the original scripts and novelization of "Star Wars"  Vader is refered to as "The Dark Lord of the Sith" although in the films SITH is never actually spoken.

Yes blackthrone... that was totally necessary to post... you're very witty and aren't just adding fuel to any fire...

and by that I mean

was that totally necessary to post? do you just want to add fuel to the fire?

Sorry.  I was being "ironical", with the whole discussion of using "sigh". My bad!
