General Discussion / Re: Good Idea, Bad Idea

Good Idea: Making a game with AGS.

Bad Idea: Publishing a game made with AGS which is full of bugs, inconsistencies and rather bad humour.

Hints & Tips / Re: Shadow of the Comet

I played that game over a year ago. It has a very hard and unintuitive interface. It's keyboard only. I eventually got it (was really hard). Don't remember it precisely but I think you can use first letters of the actions like L for LOOK, U for USE. Cursors and space may be crucial for pointing and confirmation. Even though I still got stuck in one place simply because I had to use two items with each other and I didn't know how to achieve that. Other than that the game's quite fun. If you like it, I recommend Prisoner of Ice (which also is not to achieve in full version legally). It's sequel of Shadow of the Comet and it's interface is much better (mouse at last!  ;)).

General Discussion / Re: Star Wars Movies

For a starter, I like SW but I'm not a huge fan. I've seen OT inly two times. Phantom Menace - never and from what i heard i missed nothing. I've seen Ep2 at least two times and it wasn't as good as the prequels still it may not be such a bad movie. What is the biggest drawback of the proquels it's simply that they ARE prequels. If there was no OT or books then more than half of the accusations would not exist. Now don't think of me as a defender of the prequels. They are so much worse than the OT. And this is why the fans complain so much about them.
I'd like Episodes 7,8,9 to be made but I just can't see them without Ford or Hammil who are too old for it. Looking at the prequels I don't even think I'd like these ones done (and I know Lucas won't make them ever).

That 4231762.exe is probably the file a virus created and it's probablty hidden somewhere in the temp folder. There might be a problem in manual removal - Windows may recognise it as being used by the system.

As for me... I haven't released any game yet. My first one is progressing very slow because I can't get much time for making process. I've got two more concepts which could really take much time to make and there is one concept I had but do not intend to start it. So I'd probably choose the first option.

I like MoodyBlues rules so here's my first entry to the music contest. It's crappy and lasts only 12 seconds (but hey, have you seen an adventure game with death theme much longer?).
Word of explanation: its for a scene when the player tries to sneak pass a ruthless ogre and ends up smashed.

Competitions & Activities / Re: February MAGS

I'm sure I'm not gonna take part in March MAGS no matter who wins, so here is my key puzzle:
Spoiler
Take a large iron key that is hollow inside, pour some powder inside, warm it and it will shoot. Buy the key will be ruined after one shot.

It doesn't necessarily have to be death IMO. You've already spoke about graphic interfering, which I find a great idea. So, what I mean is like when player fails something for the first time then all of a sudden he gets somthing like blow in the head, screen shifts for a little while, objects get darker and blurry. Make it look like the character was attacked btu he doesn't know what struck him and he's clearly in bad shape but eventually he'll get through it. But such thing should happen only once through the game.

What I'd like to see in the story is a character who doesn't know what will happen. He starts to uncover things but he is a sceptic and always sees a reasonablwe solution or at least doesn't find his discoveries so strange. Put character's thoughts that will sound convincing and than at one point make the big blow - everythings unfolds into a real, existing horror, though most of the time it just looked like some evil intrigue.

Something similar to the child room with music box is putting voices of kids playing and laughing and then crying out loud in pain and sorrow.

General Discussion / Re: MP3 read in notes

Yeah, I knew the idea was hopeless... Not much hope of getting midi's either, these songs are not that much popular.

Only thing I can say: it's surely in English - there's "show me" all the time in the lyrics. Other than that I know nothing  ???

General Discussion / MP3 read in notes
Wed 02/02/2005 17:22:52
I'm supposed to play the piano on a concert. Trouble is there are no piano notes for those songs so I'm doing italmost from scratch. I've got mp3's of the songs. I don't know if it's possible or would it work but is there any easy to get MP3 music program which would open an mp3 and show the notes? Like some music maker that uses notation and mp3 format, so I could open those files in it. That would be so much help, as I would not have to invent anything from hearing. Could you please answer as quick as you can because it's very important to me, I need to manage about 3 songs in two months (any piano player would agree it's not time regarding my situation).

I'd finally release my first AGS game as post mortem.

My personal favourite is The Police and Sting. Fav song - "Every Breath You Take". I also like some of Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker... the list continues.

General Discussion / Re: AGS Church

Who will be the bishops? Will we form churches were priests will show how to make adventure on the masses? I already imagine the worst sin:

Believer: Bless me fathaer because I sinned.
Priest: Tell me your sins, son.
B: I deleted AGS from my hard drive.
Priest: You will receive no consolation! You're damned through all time! I hereby ezpell you from this church and entire AGS community!

Thanks guys, I got it to work.

IMO the first reason you should pull a bucket of cold water on your head and finish the thing with your ex is that she allows you to be in her companion. She ruins you and she lets that happen. I don't know her and I don't want to sound offensive, but it looks to me like she acts mean on you. She knows how much it takes for you to see her indifference (is that the right word for her stance?). She doesn't love you and I think she does not care about you. If she cared, she would have told you that you both shouldn't spend any time together. That would be brutal, but sincere and seemingly right to do.

As to the picture, yeah, you look like a model, with a skill to pose. And you sure have a lot of creative interests.

Here's my script for player enters screen after fadein. It's supposed to wait a short while before a dialog begins, then fade out after the dialog and go to different room.

// script for room: Player enters screen (after fadein)
Wait(5)
RunDialog(1); //chaufer talks with DM
Wait(10);
FadeOut(3);
NewRoom(11); //mapÃ,

Well, it loads the room and almost immediately fades it out, not allowing anything to be visible, then goes to the next room. It just won't show the player what's this room supposed to be for. I suppose my fault is not using 'while' or some other functions but I don't know how to handle that.
