General Discussion / Re: AGS Church
Fri 14/01/2005 12:38:18
Cool picture  :D

I heard about four dudes in Poland forming a church to avoid conscription. I believe they called it "The Church of Olive Tree". The only requirements were to have followers, to make a scripture and to have regular (one for half a year at least) meetings to discuss the church's affairs. So the followers were these for guys, they made some bull***t scripture and made meetings once half a year during which they talked, drank lots of beer and laughed from what they had in scripture, making some cosmetic changes to it.
And they never went to army.

I haven't changed your suggestion about the object. I've just changed it to character and it runs smoothly now. Thanks for your attention.

I didn't make myself entirely clear. I know the objects are reserved for one room and the car is moving through one room only. Still it doesn't appear anywhere in the picture. I'll try character, it shall work.

I have an object of a car moving through the screen. I want it to move from the edge to some specific point and then to change the room. The room loads, stays for a while and then changes to the next room without showing the car moving. I tried altering speed and even drew a walkable area, but it still doesn't show. Should I change the car to a character or something else than object?
"Object initially visible" is on.

I think your idea is quite viable, though there might be some difficulties in the script, but I consider them minor, so they won't spoil all the idea. More important, this is an original concept. I'd like to see how you'd handle such game.
So two thumbs up.

A beautiful idea my dear Goldmund  ;D Well, I have respect for Sienkiewicz and I have respect for history. I'm not planning to rip from Sienkiewicz so there are no trademarks :P And no, there shouldn't be any problem with Polish version. The problems are: time, graphic and scripting skills, good plot (that's fairly the easiest) and inner strength to work through the bureaucracy for getting Secretary's of Culture interest and help.
It's looooong way to completing the thing I'm writing about.

I know that I've probably hastened a bit giving you something really general, but I just wanted to ask you what you think about the idea of a setting and it's potential.

As to any more info I thought on a character being a Polish noble from southern Poland in a year of some major historical event in the country. He would meet some historical figures and get involved in a major plot. One of my ideas is to give player a choice - he may stand against the law and order thus becoming an infamous outlaw or act on behalf of law/the king. The choice would alter the gameplay greatly (and would extend the making process very much but I think it would be worth it). I do not have a story yet. I'm just making general assumptions.

My major conception was like showing the people what Poland looked like in it's glorious days by making an interesting adventure game. Don't imagine me as a patriotic buffoon. I just think that's something worth showing.

I've come with this idea recently. Why not make a game set in Poland of 17th century? A country witch was considered a super power right then, having almost one million square kilometres of territory, almost constant wars on the east frontier. 8 million pop of which 1 million was nobility having priviledges and actually ruling the country more than the king himself. The nobles were warrior-like, courageous and took care for their honor. Sabre duels and sieges of neighbouring nobles were common. And the law won seldom.

I thought of making a game where you could be a Polish noble and while doing some 'quest you would see how it was in that country of this specific age. What do you think about that?

I don't watch porn, so I have no idea what you are talking about

Really, little green alien? :P

Good luck to you Petteri. I'm sure there won't be any major events during your service. As for me I am already a private - of reserve :P

Michal Slawomir Piotr Frackowski (the "l" in Michal and Slawomir and "a" in my last name are the most suitable equivalents for polish letters).

As to the option of continue ( I suppoe it's meant to be funny) I'd use the on with 12-year-old son. I see potential in this one, but I don't know know what it is - I don't know the context. But I imagine it's like someone enters room, sits at a table with some guys and one of these guys stands up, turns to the audience (as it's a play there must be an audience :P) and starts his monologue. Meanwhile Deniss pretends to talk with the other guy at the table. Is it any blose to the way you wanted to present this text in live?

Do you remember how we kissed in the moonlight?
Do you remember our happiness in stars?
All that I've done was done for only your delight
And now I am here, writing from behind the bars.

Your love for me is much more than million bucks,
For you I would gladly challenge demons to fight.
But before I tell you how I weep on your lack
Please tell me, remember how we kissed in the moonlight?

There in the darkest shadows of an old oak tree
A bird sang it's song, not as beautiful as you.
More than anything in world I would like to be
In that place tonight with noone else but you.

Pretty obvious but my aim was to make it really look like a love poem.

Looks good. A lot better than what I tried to do for sometime now - a game about an LAPD detective.
I'm getting your demo now.

I've added a bass track. Still have not came to an end and I know this tune lacks something.

Changed the melody a bit though it's still not got an ending. New version is in the link at first post.

This is my first in life midi sample. It lacks ending, is quite easy and monotonuous. Made it with Anvil. Features a rythm, acoustic and electric guitar. Supposed to make game's main theme.
It sucks and I want you to tell me what should I do with it. Especially what instruments to put and where.

Here's the file:

I need the player character to change view everytime he draws a gun. But when I click the gun on the character, he changes into Roger.
Here's my script.

  // script for character1: Use inventory on character
if (player.activeinv == 3) {
if (gun == 0) {
gun = 1;
SetCharacterView(JACK, 18);
AnimateCharacter(JACK, 1, 3, 0);
ReleaseCharacterView(JACK);
}
if (gun == 1) {
gun = 0;
AnimateCharacter(JACK, 2, 3, 0);
ChangeCharacterView(JACK, 1);
ReleaseCharacterView(JACK);
}
}

Thanks strazer, solved it with only tiny changes to what you gave me.

I think you should ask yourself these questions:

1. Although you're in love with that woman, are you sure you want to continue this relationship even though she doesn't love you?

2. Which would you like more, Melbourne or England? (both has its pros and cons, so think it over carefully unless you've already made up your mind)
