Ivan and Olga, two soldiers in the red army, finds themselves tasked with preventing a small village from falling into enemy hands. Their orders are simple, destroy the bridge and poison the food and water supply before the enemy soldiers can reach the village and destroy the bridge or poison the food and water supply...

Get the game here!

Sniper and spotter serving the motherland is a standalone sequel to my previous game Sniper and spotter being patriotic.
If you like this game, there is also another short game in the same setting called Fallen soldier.

The AGS games in production page for this game can be found here.

The year is 1676 and Sweden have claimed the region of Scania from the longstanding enemy Denmark. Yet not all Scanians are ready to accept the Swedish supremacy,
and some of them have taken to the woods where they lay waiting in ambush for Swedish troops passing by.

This game deals with the Snapphane rebellion in late seventeenth-century Sweden and can be played in both Swedish and English.

The Snaplock was created for MAGS in March 2017 with the theme "size matters".

Hi!
What I'm trying to achieve is a scene where a character who is not the player walks from point A to B, and if they reach point B, the player loses the game,
so that the player has to be able to interact with the character before they reach that point.

But all scripts and functions I find are about the player character, so I wonder if it's possible
to have a script trigger when a specific non player character cross a region or walkable area?

Ok, I really hope the theme that I've picked isn't too narrow and specific, but I chose a subject which deeply intrigued me;
The Gerum Cloak

It is a cloak found in a peat bog, preserved from the iron age from around 360-100 BC which I once saw in a museum, and I've remembered it ever since.

The reason this cloak caught my interest is that it contains several holes after knife-stabs in it and traces of blood in it, meaning that a man was likely murdered while wearing it.
The cloak was then neatly folded together around a few small stones to weigh it down, and hidden in a bog, where it was left for more than 2000 years.

Who was murdered, and why was their cloak, and only their cloak, folded and buried in a bog?
We may never know what truly happened, but this Fortnightly Writing Competition will be about writing a story on what could have happened that led to the cloak getting stab marks and ending up in a bog.

Since it's a writing contest and not a history contest, it's ok to speculate and make your own interpretation.
I hope you find this theme interesting and inspiring, and if not, please let me know.

Deadline is April 15th.

I wanted to try and come up with an original idea for this sprite jam, as well as challenge people, so I hope anyone is willing to try this.

This time, you can draw anything you want for a sprite, any character, item or motive you want to draw.

Deadline is February 27th, which I hope is plenty of time, no rush.

There is only one catch.

The sprite has to be done in MS Paint, and according to the following guidelines;

It has to be drawn with your mouse and keyboard, no tablet, pen, pad or stylus used.

You can only use the default colors in the palette that show up when you start paint.

And no pixel-art.

I cannot say whether it was my interest for ancient mythology or my love of irony that got the best of me,
but the theme I picked for this Fortnightly Writing Competition is fate, or more precisely, the inevitability of fate.

The story must contain a prediction, or prophesy, and a character who in their attempts to prevent it from coming true,
inadvertently sets it in motion. Oedipus is probably the ur-example of this trope, but it shows up in various other fairy tales
and folklore as well, and I'd like to see your take on this theme.

Fortnightly Writing Competition ends in december 18.

The story of a soldier of the german Wehrmacht in WWII who falls in battle and laying lifeless surrounded by an ongoing war,
he starts questioning what led him here and pondering his role in the grand scheme of things...

This game was made for MAGS in November 2016 with the theme "Afterlife" and can be played in English and Swedish.

I made this game as a standalone story, but the main character also appears in Sniper and spotter being patriotic in case anyone is interested! :)

OK, I have a problem, I tried to import a new font and then this shows up whenever I try to play or edit my game:

I tried importing a different font from the SCI-fonts pack http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/ags/sci_fonts/, to no effect.
The scary thing is that I'm afraid that the same thing happens to my backup copy, and I didn't even change the font on that one!

What shall I do? :~(

Hi!
I know that the AGS engine can play different video formats, but I can't figure out how.
I did a movie in MP4-format in Windows movie maker to try this, but when I use this script:
Code: ags
PlayVideo ("mymovie.MP4", eVideoSkipAnyKey, 1);}

I get an error message in the game once the script is triggered:

The video worked in windows media player.

Hi!
I want to try and make make a game where the player must first click on a number of items in order to proceed.
Basically, they have to click on a high number of things, and then interact with a character, but if they haven't interacted with enough items, interacting with the character will only lead to a message that they haven't collected enough things.

Is there any form of Global variable I can use to add a number to a meter (invisible to the player) or similar whenever the player interacts with a crucial item,
and the script for character only takes effect once the number is high enough?

We all know how it goes. For eons mankind has endeavored to seek out new frontiers and find new places previously unheard of.
And then the tourists show up.

The challenge here lies in drawing a background
where only your imagination sets the limit,
and you can make it precisely as beautiful as you want...

BUT you have to insert this sprite  into it when you are done:

Which place will the tourists ruin next? An old castle, a south-european city, a tropical paradise, a remote asteroid or something completely different?

I'm working on a new game, titled Sniper and Spotter serving the motherland!
This game is a sequel to my previous game,Sniper and Spotter being Patriotic, but it is a standalone story and my intention is that players shall be able to understand the story even if they haven't played the previous game.

The plot is rather straightforward.
The great patriotic war is raging and Olga, a sniper loyal to the motherland, and Ivan, her trusted spotter, have received an order to use the scorched earth tactic on a small soviet village before it falls into the hands of the axis. Their mission will be to destroy all resources and burn the village before the enemy gets a chance to destroy all resources and burn the village...

Gameplay-wise, this game will focus on exploring the village and sabotaging and destroying various parts of it while the battle between the Axis forces and the Red Army draws closer.

Hello everybody! I've had a really, really hard time to decide a theme for the sprite jam, but I hope you find this challenge interesting:

The sprite shall be an adaption of a character from a classical painting!
You may re-interpret the figure or remake it in your own style, but the entry must:

1. Contain enough elements so that the sprite is recognizable as an adaption of the original painting.

2. Contain an image or link to the original painting.

If you feel short on inspiration, I couldn't resist including a few pictures of some of my favorite artists:

From left to right: "The little foot-page" by Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale, "The Bewitched Man" by Francisco Goya, "The temptation of S.t Anthony" by Max Ernst, "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog" by Caspar David Friedrich,
"Lot and His Daughters" by Albrecht Dürer, "The witches' Sabbath" by Francisco Goya and "Algerian Women in Their Apartments" by Eugène Delacroix.

Good luck and hope you have fun!

Winners get these trophies:

Gold:

Silver:

Bronze:

Hi everybody!
I thought that it would be fun to experiment with adding FMV cut-scenes to my next AGS-project,
but I have no experience making 2D videos and want to hear if anyone has any can recommend
any program for creating FMVs that is easy to learn for beginners. Any tips?

Critics' Lounge / Background art

Hi!
I have spent some time working on a background which I plan to use in a sequel for my game Sniper and spotter being patriotic,
and I plan for this game too to have something of a 1940's cartoon aesthetic. This background is supposed to be the office of a soviet political officer,
and I added in a character sprite to compare against the background. I have made two versions, and I wonder, which one do you think looks the best?

This BACKGROUND BLITZ will be about steampunk!

Steampunk, for those unfamiliar with the concept, is a blend between science fiction and fantasy with an Victorian aesthetic.
The style is mostly associated with but not limited to brass pipes and gears, old-timey goggles and steam-powered machinery.
I you need further inspiration on what to do and not to do, I recommend listening to this song!

I chose this theme because most of the steampunk illustrations I've seen have been of items and characters,
and I thought it would be fun to see more explorations of places and environments for a change,
be it the inside of an airship, an inventors laboratory, just a regular room with steampunk machinery,
anything you can think of as long as it has some steampunk elements incorporated.

Deadline is August 31st.

The top three contestants will get one of these trophys:

Hello!
I have two questions, first,
Is it possible to use a different speech font for different languages in the game, and if so, how do you implement it?

Second, I have tried to edit a font using fontedit from the AGS resource page, but when I save it the file doesn't show up when I try to import it into my AGS game. What shall I do?

The year is 897. Pope Stephen the sixth or seventh, is holding a trial against his predecessor Formosus,
and you have been chosen as Formosus defender. The thing is, you hardly know a thing about law.

That's probably why Stephen chose you.

This game was made for MAGS in June 2016 with the theme "Neglected Historical Eras".
The story is loosely based on an historical trial known as The cadaver synod, as well as borrowing elements from a certain medieval legend.

Hello! :)
I'm wondering what I should do if I want to make the player having to ask several different characters something before an option in a certain dialog becomes available.

What I want is that the player has to chose a certain option in three different dialogues, in any random order as long as all three has been chosen, before a forth dialog is triggered.
How can this be done?
