Just a guess here, but if Blue had her way I imagine it would be something more along the lines of:

"Girls or gtfo!"

:D

GTFO monkey!  ;D

But nice to see so many girls replying to this thread :)

Critics' Lounge / Re: How to color this?
Fri 26/08/2011 16:07:37
I love the background! I wish I could do buildings just as well. I couldn't resist playing around with the coloring, so here's what I came up with.

Haha!  ;D I like the style of the sprite. Others have already mentioned some issues that could be perfected, so I'll just come up with a suggestion I think is missing. I think it would look cool if her glasses also followed her movement instead of being glued to her face :) I wish I could animate a sprite with flash. Perhaps I should just practice more.

Kinoko, DragonRose and Dart.

Where have they gone?

Wow, weird. I haven't looked at the AGS forums in... I don't know how long. Years, I think. I randomly finish playing KQIII Redux and decide to check the forums for nostalgia value- the day after someone mentions me!

And DUDES! We're STILL having "OMG there are girls on the boards!" topics?

Yea well my bad. Didn't know it was such a popular topic  :-[  :)

Am female, but dunno if I can be called an active member. I lurk a lot. Does that count?

Yes, lurking is fine  ;)

I remember some time ago loominous made a workshop themed Background Blitz in the competitions forum.
I thought it could be really cool to have more of these workshops - With focus on a specific area. Could be backgrounds, drawing rooms, choosing the right colours, shading or walk-animation. There you could train your skills and get help from those who are good at it.

That's why we have the Critics Lounge you might think - That's true, but in a workshop you're working with a specific issue rather than posting a drawing you want people to critique.
If such a workshop - or workshops were to be created I would love to see people like loominous and/or zyndikate as mentors.

Just a wish/suggestion :) What do you guys think of that idea?

Can I ask what's the difference between boys and girls in a software forum? It's not like anyone is going to get a date or something...
:=
I didn't mention anything about dating did I?  := Just curious as I said. :-)

Get out! This is girls only!  ;D
#32
Just wondering. I know there ARE other girls around here on the forums but where are you?
Girls, write something here in this thread and let us know you're there!  ;D

Because I'm actually curious to know how many active girls that are around and who they are.

http://www.seventhsanctum.com  go nuts ;D

I'm also having trouble naming the game I'm currently working on as well as finding names for the characters so this site was just what I was looking for! Thanks  ;D

I love the entries so far. They are so original. I'll see if I can get the time to participate in this one.

...Um... I admit these must be hard to steer indeed.
I have no idea if it still fits the theme or if I twisted it too much.

Darius Poyer - Haha! Awesome duck. It took me awhile before I saw it in the shape. Poor thing  ;D

I'm thinking of entering, but I have a question for the host: The picture must be AGS compatible, but does that mean that it has to look like it is playable, with walkable areas?
#38
I think he picked the wrong forum to announce this. ;D

I hope he's joking

I'm liking the 'act' way of organising a story, it makes tying the plot up a lot easier and into manageable chunks. You can concentrate on your first act knowing that later on you know how it will be resolved, but what happens in the first can be quite self-contained. It can definitely be applied to adventures... and it's definitely how I'm going to work in the future.

Interesting. I never thought of it that way. But you're right that there is a similarity between comics and adventure games. I will keep this in mind.

- Writing the story before there are any puzzles also makes designing puzzles harder, but I just suck at designing puzzles. They always feel like a compromise, laid on top of the story. It might be better to design the puzzles before the story, or at the same time.

Puzzles should be where the key elements of the story is, so that when you solve it you feel you've earned to progress in the story. But other than that puzzles can be placed everywhere along the line as long as it fits in with the story and has a purpose.

I already have one of the key puzzles ready for my game, but I don't know yet how big a role it is supposed to play for the game in whole or what happens when the puzzle is solved.
I have two characters ready for the game, but at this time I don't even know who the main char is.

It's cool to see so many replies! Although I'd like a bit more detail on the process.
Perhaps, based on your latest game, you will explain how you got inspiration for the storyline and the characters in it? :)
