Space Quest II - for your consideration for the AGS Awards 2012.

Space Quest II - Vohaul's Revenge Remake (link)

by Infamous Adventures
Infamous Adventures is proud to present a remake of Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe's classic 1987 hit, Space Quest II: Vohaul's Revenge.

Heroes come and Heroes go, and our favorite janitor / hero, Roger Wilco, finds that life sucks. Again. Roger's life has returned to normal after the events in Space Quest I: The Sarien Encounter. Transferred to the Xenon Orbital Station 4 and promoted to head (and only) janitor, life is quiet until he is abducted by Sludge Vohaul, the evil mastermind behind the original Sarien attack of the Arcada. As Roger is being transported to the Labion labor mines as punishment for thwarting Vohaul's original plan, the prison ship crash-lands in a nearby jungle upon the planet. Once again, it's up to Roger to save the day, this time by stopping Vohaul's evil plan: to eradicate sentient life from Xenon by launching millions of cloned insurance salesmen at the planet.

  • Over 4000 lines of spoken dialogue

So when can we see videos? There were some talks I missed while listening to other talks, and it would be swell to watch those at some point.

Jack recorded majority of talks and got some interviews with developers/speakers so will have them up soon. He'll also be making a short documentary but the full talks will be uploaded to an Adventure X YouTube channel.

As for the event, I had a great time. Very friendly people, lots of promising looking projects and an abundance of talent in one room. And it was even better winning the big bundle prize! ;).

Thanks for everyone who stopped by our booth and gave Quest for Infamy a whirl. Really pleased with the feedback.

But especially thanks to Mark, Rebecca, Biriam, Ali and for everyone else who helped make this event possible. Look forward to 2013!

Dude, yes I shall. I'll put it up on Youtube this weekend.

And I might even finally get around to putting my own silly presentation up. Complete with it's very own counter of how many times can I say 'so.'  8-)

And here is Ali's talk. Featuring gameplay footage of Nelly Cootalot 2 and some interesting slides.

Noticed it's a bit dark at the beginning and the light levels go a bit funky a few minutes later. Looks fine in Adobe. Damn you Youtube.

Hey guys, just to let you know the CJ and Ali videos will be on their way shortly. Finally got some time to work on them. I also have Simon the piano guy which I'll upload as well. All in 3D! I meant HD!

CJ, Ali and other videos are coming. Just a busy few days from now but I'll try to squeeze them in. Stay tuned!

Yep, I've got all of Sunday's talks including CJ, Ali and others. Will upload them soon.

As for Saturday, I believe m0ds and some others got them.

Hey everypne, had a great time and it was nice to meet and see some of the work from other developers as I rarely get to check the quality of games that comes out around here so that's given me more incentive to check these forums more often.

Thanks for the great feedback on Space Quest II. Glad you all enjoyed it and it was awesome to see your combined effort nearly completing it. And that you enjoyed the many deaths of Roger Wilco too! Or endured, I hope the latter.

I have got videos of all the speakers on the Sunday. I haven't been able to go through them all but the video and sound quality are fantastic. I'll hope to cut them down this week sometime and do an individual video for each talker and put them on Youtube for all to see as they're not to be missed.

Thanks Mark for organizing this. Hopefully we'll have another meeting next year and I'm not promoting Space Quest II again because it still isn't out!

Hello all, Infamous Adventures will be at the event as well presenting Space Quest II on the big screen. Be awesome to see a bunch of you down here and Space Quest II will be playable at the event. Be great to get some early opinions and such but importantly it'll be nice to have a good turnout. I've always liked the idea of an adventure game convention so big props to m0ds for organising it.

Hi all, just thought I'd drop by and let you all know that progress has been made and it is going awesomely. It's taking a little longer than we'd expected but we are so close I can just... well... we're just close, okay.

Now I had a better reason to bump a topic that hasn't been posted in more than a year, so moderators I apologize in advance but I thought I'd share the trailer we just released today. Here is the new trailer for Space Quest II Remake by Infamous Adventures. Hope you all like it, as you'll tell we went for the classic 50's look. Why, I don't quite know, I just wanted it to be different, just like I hope our game is when it is released.

Hope you all like it, and we'll notify you all when the game is released. Peace!

Hey, that's pretty awesome to hear. If it's possible, could you do a scan of the magazine? Or do they sell that in the UK?

Radiant, I apologize. You consider Gwydion not getting items that he doesn't know he needs yet poor game design? That's fine. You consider us wanting you to actually watch the cutscenes poor game design? That's fine. You consider things we left intact from the original KQ3 such as a teleporting cat and 25 minutes of no Manannan annoying or stupid? E-mail Roberta. Is the game buggy as hell right now and could've benefitted from an extra month? We apologize; next time, we'll find beta testers who actually earn their keep. I'm sorry this game wasn't up to speed. It's our bad, we're sorry. We'll do better next game. We don't try to outclass Sierra or AGDI (how could we?), we're just trying to make something we can be proud of and hopefully will be an homage to something that made us wonder and imagine when we were dough-eyed little kids. Rest assured, though, the new patch will come with fixed bugs, better dialogue portraits, some improved art, and hopefully the voice pack. Keep your eyes peeled.

Hey, it could've been worse. We could've stolen someone's plot and game project for our own means right out from under their nose./b]

Zing! Take that, Radiant.

Anyways, thanks for comments! Except for Radiants, who doesn't have a damned clue what he's talking about.

The forums are back! Here's just some more random babble about the tremedous return of the IA site and forums. Oh, and we've got a new design too.

We recieved such a blow last month, which resulted in a long time offline.

Yet we don't give up as you can see, we fixed IA and we're back and open for business! We may have had to pay a little extra to get this done, yet we did it for you, the fans. As another thank you for your patience, you'll most likely be aware of the little makeover we've done with the site. It was about time, and especially as we near to the completion of our debut game, King's Quest III.

We have to confess, this has affected the production of KQ3 a tad bit, due to certain data which was needed that wasn't backed up before the attack. However, we have recovered and there won't be any breaks from here. We'll work twice as hard at releasing KQ3 then we did before to make up for lost time so hang tight, we'll get this game to your screens as fast as possible.

Thank you so much for your support and we hope you enjoy the new theme and design. You guys are the best and we admit, if it wasn't for the fans we'd probably have given up on this.

If you've got any problems with the new site or any bugs then please inform me. If you prefered the old forum skin, you can still choose it by going to your control panel and changing the skin set to "Classic IA" if you feel that's the one you love instead.

IA is back baby! Yeah!

Also, read the press release on Beerfest 2006. You get the see real video footage of Bt singing and dancing.

You guys are too easy to fool, of course it's an April Fool's Day joke.

Watch, at the end of the day or a couple of days from now everything will return back to normal.

The same thing happened with the shareware version of AGS. It was made to be so believable that it couldn't possibly have been a joke even if it was on the 1st of April. It is a joke and I have my final word on that. A very good one at that though, I'm not critizising it but it's not the truth, just a wonderfully crafted prank. :)

People also got confused when they were looking for SQ7 in the shops when they saw the expected release date on the teaser 1998. ;)

It's not too big of deal, in my opinion. Release dates get messed up all the time, just look at AGDI (no offense) It's just a few months overdue, if it was alot longer I would probably consider changing it. For now though, it's best left alone.

Anyway, while I'm here I might aswell announce that beta testing has closed and the lucky sods will get their letters of approval in the mail any day now.

What Blackthorne said but here's the professional way of doing it.

ANNOUNCEMENT: KING'S QUEST III NEEDS BETA TESTERS - PLEASE READ

You thought this day would never come, but the production of King's Quest III has come to the point where the lucky citizens of Adventure Town pitch in and lend a hand to condemn theirselves to the dungeons... the BETA testing dungeons. That's right, Infamous Adventures are looking for eager and experienced beta testers to relinquish their bug finding skills in their brand new, debut adventure game, King's Quest III: To Heir is Human.

Are you who we're looking for? Who knows, but we'll need a little info before they put the names into the sorting hat. If you've got the time and are willing to help in our quest to hunt down those pesky bugs then listen carefully!

What we are looking for are people who are motivated, experienced and have an eye for the linguistic details. Not only that but people who'd spent at least 10-15 minutes on each screen looking, interacting and talking with almost anything on the screen, plus an eye for the details that could even be improved.

Think you're that kind of person? Well, get in line and send them an application with the following details:

- Full Name or Nickname
- System Specs
- Education
- Any experience with Beta testing
- Favourite Game

And last but not least, we'd like to know about you. Write a small paragraph about yourself and why you'd like to beta test King's Quest III, along with the kind of person you are when it comes to testing. Do you tend to cover one aspect, such as concentrating on the spelling and grammar, or do you just go crazy with the mouse looking for the slightest mess up?

Well, we'd love to hear from you. Please send in your applications to beta@infamous-adventures.com with the subject "Beta Testing Application" in the subject title by the 15th of February. Any later, and I'm afraid you're a wee too late, sonny.

Each application will be read and studied, a select few will be chosen so please don't get your hopes up. Each selected member will be emailed soon after so those lucky (or unlucky ones) ones will help in taking up the task of eliminating the scum of the game. Bugs.
