Haven't done this in a while. Simple and fast coloring. 6 colors counting the white.

Great improvements again.
2 things though:
- I preferred the floor of your first pictures.
- the photo should also be tilted when the frame is tilted

Unless the picture was already tilted when taken.  :D

So whenever I'm drawing a room like this, should I always draw out the orthogonal lines? And sorry If it seems that I sound confused all the time, for I've never been taught most of this stuff.

Well, let me try to explain. When something is farther away from you, it appers smaller, right? Like, if you look across the room at a window, it looks smaller then if you got up and walked right up to it, even though it has not changed size in any way, it now looks bigger.

On the door, the left side is further away then the right, so even though the door is a rectangle, and the two sides are the same height, the one of the right should be drawn shorter because of your perspective.

Oh yeah. Now where did my common sense go.

I think what you're missing on the background is respect to the perspective is foreshortening. For example, if you take the door on the right, the left edge, which is further from us, should be drawn shorter then the right one. This will also force the angle of the top of the door to become closer to horizontal.

Hmm, foreshortening. I'm not really knowledgeable on perspective so I wouldn't know what that is. I did think that the door was unusually wide, so thanks.

Heres an incomplete background with an incomplete sprite for my upcoming game that takes place in Chinatown. It's a background of a Chinese bakery and I feel uneasy about the perspective. I don't really care much about the char right now, but you may CC it too if you please. Thank you once again AGS community.

and canadians in here who remembered the tv show with the painter bob ross?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ross

The Joy of Painting was also shown in in the US, too bad Ross died of cancer, but I heard his son picked up his father's techniques, and is not too bad. Now to get back on topic.

36 colours seems a little over the top to me for a sprite of this size... you may also find it easier to animate with less colours.

His facial features are not very clear, even when zoomed in and especially from the side. You might want to try using a slightly bolder colour here.

His side stance is a little confusing - his upper body, including head, appear to be twisted at 90 degrees to the forward facing view, but his legs appear to be twisted 45 degrees from the forward facing view.

Oops, when I saved it as a gif on PSP, the colors somehow formed made more. Thanks for the advice.

Thu 22/02/2007 04:06:52
I think this is my third topic on this board, and I hope I don't keep pestering you guys too often, but heres a character that I might be using for a game. I'm also planning to work on a walk cycle soon.  Please critique. Thanks.

Ignore the steel knuckles on the top left.

Yes, I have done that, read through everything. Searched up Ethan Goldberg on my computer and found out that DeMarco was dead.

Hints & Tips / I'm Stuck on the Shivah

At the moment I have talked to Rabbi Amos, Sharma, and the people at the bar won't talk to me.
I have the original two inventory items and have the clues: Joe DeMarco Is Joe Jewish? Goldberg

I heard that I'm suppose to combine the clues together, but I've tried to do that.

Cool, my first coloring ball.

Great entries everyone.

Mines some kind of vampire with a gold watch.

I feel sad how there hasn't been much entries so far, despite the great looking sprites. I might be able to pull off something, even if its bad.

Well, there are a whole lot of more worse things like Habbo (you'll buy credits and then tire of it afterwards). So IMVU is not all that bad actually.

Heh, I play that. If you want to add me my user is TheCarnival, but then again, it is a bad game that tricks (persuades) you into spending money so you can online furniture.

Wow, great entires, I'll try to make it for this one.

Hmmm, interesting. Well, at least it's good to know there are more options out there. I wonder if the functionality and features of the LG KE-850 are that similar to the iPhone also...

Hmmm, well lets verify that by watching this advertisement on it.

I don't think biotheblop's been active since the last time he's posted his entry. Is anyone going to start a new one? Maybe no one really cares about this contest anymore. Maybe it will lock down.
#19
Huh, I don't think that this is an official contest.
#20
I will enter, as long as someone doesn't has the same idea as me and makes the sprite first.

EDIT:

My entry. The terrifying, time traveling, time toaster. Inspired from The Simpsons.
