I do know how it works. And I did get it run but after the intro it gave this error:

---------------------------
Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occurred in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x0052F6FF ; program pointer is +77, ACI version 3.11.1057, gtags (0,19)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and post the details on the AGS Technical Forum.

Probably not Ben's fault, but still anoing.

The Rumpus Room / Re: The AGS Stickam Room

every time I get the chance to check out this thread it seems there was a room posted yesterday. Which of course doesn't have any people in it anymore  :-\

Side walk cycle for a character. I must say this looked alot better in AGS itself.

A background with character. It was for a kids game but I'm still not sure what it's about.

This activity has inspired me to start something I had in mind for a while. Rather then digging up old stuff:

I hope atleast one of these projects sees the daylight  :)

General Discussion / Re: Nightwish.

I'm a really big fan of Nightwish.  :D I was lucky enough to see them live with Tarja aswell aswell as with Anette. I must say most of their older songs are so epic and make me feel awsome when I listen to them. Something I don't really have with the newer songs. They do seem much happier now and much more approachable.

I also saw Within temptation life in Amsterdam a few years ago. I do like their singer but their music isn't as nice. I might check out the other bands mentioned in this thread.

Very nice! It's a bit of a shame it has Poser all over. As most poser people models look a little like dolls. But I like what you've done with it. Besides, finishing a project this big is worth an emmy

The new screen is really sweet.  :D

Blender has a build in 3ds exporter if I'm not mistaking.

Ok if anyone is bothered by this, I'm ok with voting starting now.  :)

My brother was trying to sell his old camera. He got an email asking if he could send it to Nigeria. I thought it was kinda funny how fake it was.

Bump and normal maps...

I made you a little image

Not sure if it's clear so I'll try to explain.

Bump maps can only define depth with 2 things. It's either lower or higher. Usually pure white is the highest point and pure black the lowest.

Normal maps can define depth from more sides.

I hope that makes sense lol.

Cubemaps...

Cubemap entities are appearently used in Source to give materials (especially refections) a more proper specularity.

I wonder why there isn't just a Specular channel. Oh well not every engine is as cool as Unreal engine  :=

General Discussion / Re: Why 2D gaming died?
Mon 09/02/2009 19:31:41
2d games haven't died. In fact they are starting to popular again. And I don't know why lots of people say 3d is cheaper to make. This is so not true. If you wanted to make Kings quest in the VGA style for example it would be much easier and cheapter to do then make Gears of war 3. Adventure games are not really popular in general but does it need to be? We have Adventure games paradise right here  :)

General Discussion / Re: Snow!

We had snow a few weeks back. Nothing really stopped when it was there. Even my driving lesson didn't get cancelled. In fact it was perfect for slip courses.

General Discussion / Re: Backup
Fri 30/01/2009 10:40:45
I always use back ups when doing 3D work. You never know when something might crash and corrupt your file. Maya has an option to keep backsups every time you save. I'm not sure about Max , I just do it manually there.

Making back ups for AGS game just doesn't seem needed. AGS has never crashed on me. I only made a backup once when switching to higher versions.

And I really don't see why I should back up my entire harddisk. I've never had a situation where I suddenly lost it all.

I think it's a little unreasonable to expect them to give everyone free use of the engine they've developed so you can knock about in it yourself, no?

Not really. Lots of game and mod dev teams give out an editor to let you make your own stuff for their game or mod. This way the community can produce lots maps and mods to keep the game alive.
