All hail Cat!  (But she can leave Icey's threads alone :P)

Hope your projects go well Mark, and thanks for the gentle modding over the years.

In that case, and since they're on a ship, I think it may be Whiskey Galore.

I feel like I recognise this scene but can't quite place it.  Is it an Ealing Comedy by any chance?

Is that actually a man in the screenshot though?  It looks like it to me, but it's hard to tell for sure because of the resolution...

I keep looking at that picture and deciding it's Alistair Aim, then deciding it's not, then changing my mind again.

I'm also reading Captain Disater Collection by Dave Seaman. It's funny. You should all buy the e-book right now!

Best quote EVER! :-D

Please tell me you have some beautiful Vangelis-esque music to go with these wonderful visuals...

Another very short extract which only AGSers might understand the reference to:

“Good day to you sir, and thank you for your interest in our hotel.  My name is Floyd, and I am here to answer any questions about this hotel or the entire holiday resort.”  The hologram flickered and the image tried to stabilise a bit, as if responding to actually having someone to talk to for the first time in centuries.  He had an American accent that has been described by some as ‘delightfully all over the place'.

Finally got round to reading Philip K. Dick's "The Man in the High Castle".  Unfortunately, one of my children has hidden it.  So far it seems a very interesting idea but it's a rather difficult read in that most of the writing is done in a very clipped, abrupt manner with little to no flow.  This has clearly been done deliberately but I need to get further in to know how much it works for me as a reader.

Did eventually finish Clive Cussler's "Sahara", quite an absorbing read (and nothing at all like the film!).  Have also started an indie author Michael Blackburn's sci-fi story "Roko's Labyrinth", all about a post-apocalyptic world with what's left of humanity battling AI, seems really good so far.

Tempted to say something like Defender or Oids...

Well it could be a short story, novella or novel for all I know, I'm not writing to a word count aim, just till it feels like the complete story has been told.  Anyway I've just posted an excerpt which you can read if you're really that incredibly bored, and observant readers will notice the introduction of a new character based on an AGS forum member.

Either an early DOS shareware or a demake I guess...

Aw you guys are the best!

Of course, I'm now sitting here in a mild panic desperately hoping you enjoy the eBook and don't feel like you've wasted your money!

Hmm... I could use Smashwords I guess, they're annoyingly pedantic about formatting though which is why I haven't yet.  Would it make any difference to know that you can read Kindle eBooks in a browser via Amazon?  (I don't know if you already knew that - I only found out very recently.)  It would also appear that you can get the Kindle app for PC, Android, and iOS.

(Not saying definitely never, but... for now I was hoping to stick with Kindle.  If that wouldn't work for you drop me an email ;-D;))

Oh yes, and how can I forget Space Quest Incinerations, which I believe is the highest rated game in the database.

Gotta give Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back a mention too!

AGD Interactive's remake of King's Quest 2 probably qualifies as "Must Play".

I would also put The Uncertainty Machine on the list.

Also Operation: FORKLIFT for something a bit different.

This is a cool idea.  Congratulations on the release!

Now I can't help wondering if the wolf will actually get to have some bacon in this version...

Yeah the only difficulty with that is (potentially) keeping track of the price changes.  But if you use only the major coins you theoretically should be safer from this.  I guess you could update the price every day.  Or just set an arbitrary figure that you're relatively happy with irrespective of how much the value goes up or down.

I do think there's a LOT of potential for video gaming and crypto working together, but they seem to be largely two different entities only vaguely aware of each other's existence at this point.

One other thing you might want to factor in is if using a POS coin the total will become greater than the sum of its parts (although again this requires leaving the wallet open so that it can stake, which you may not always want to do).  I tried Blackcoin which seems very good but you need a huge amount to have a reasonable chance of staking even over 24 hours.

I've thought about this a few times myself.  Currently there seem to be 3 logical options:

1 - use a service such as https://www.coinpayments.net/ to accept crypto payments in various coins (I have to admit their list of supported coins seems a little odd to me - certainly BTC, LTC, ETHER, Blackcoin, DASH, DOGE, LISK etc you can perfectly understand, no-brainers really, maybe even BitBean and Darknet to an extent, but Myriadcoin, GameCredits and a few others made me raise my eyebrows slightly, especially as Myriacoin appears to be particular prone to pump and dumps, but still, the more the merrier I guess.  Downside is you will have fees to pay.

2 - deal with it manually - set an arbitrary price and accept direct payments to your own wallets, and manually send the game once you've had enough confirmations.  Downside is the value of the coin will fluctuate without warning of course.

4 - if you're good enough at coding to make your own system of tracking prices against an established exchange ie Poloniex, and automating payments received and sent.  You would probably need to use hot wallets for this, and if you accept several currencies, you could be using a lot of CPU time keeping all your wallets synched.

(In short I've yet to be convinced that I want to do  any of the above.  I might have missed something.  With Steam said to be accepting Bitcoin in some form (can't remember if this has already happened or has merely been announced as something that will happen) I expect a lot of gamers to open up to the idea of using cryptos.  But how widespread the practice will become is very uncertain.
