I would also like to put two of my own little "learning AGS scripting" games up for possible nomination as "Best Non-Adventure Game Created With AGS", because you just never know...:

Space Tunneler - arcade action as you try to navigate space tunnels without being destroyed.  (nb - the ship is NOT supposed to be the TARDIS, even though everyone thought it looked like it! :-D)

Spot The Difference - er, well, it's spot the difference.  With adventure game backgrounds and title screens used for the images.

The trolls are facing an enemy that threatens to destroy their entire race.  Who cares, you might say?  But these trolls are not the evil brutes that people think they are... Guide Clod, Rokk, Dugg and Gabb on a journey of discovery - but first of all, they need to escape from a prison that is literally about to erupt...

By CaptainD, Dualnames and AprilSkies, plus a small army of musicians, voice talent and testers.

Please consider Troll Song: Verse One - Completely Stoned for:
- Best Short Game
- Best Game Featuring Trolls
- Best Sound Design
- Best ROARING at Bats and Stuff
- Best Graphics
- Bets Game with a Trollish Theme
- Best Puzzles
- Best Puzzles Featuring Troll Pyramids
- Best Story
- Best Story Featuring Trolls as Main Characters

Or... whatever.

Haven't played it yet?  Download Page.

That'd be Winter Events, a game for the Commodore 16 ;)

Yup!  One of my earliest gaming memories, multiplayer games on that.  The biathlon was awesome ;-D

Your turn.

Not quite Winter Games.  (Sorry but that would just be TOO obvious!)

It is a Commodore, but not the 64...

It's The Games: Summer Edition, but close enough :)

Ah man I actually owned that particular game, and I still didn't get it! (roll)  In my defence the ST version looked quite different from that (I assume C64?) version pictured. Should have still got it from that second screenie though...

Wow that seems a long time ago now... we used to have huge multiplayer events when my nieces and nephew came round.  I seem to remember that the Hammer Throw did in at least a couple of joysticks!  Was always fun when you accidentally threw it towards the camera and the screen shattered.

Okay, going back even further than that... but on a very similar (yet opposite) theme:

Summer Games?

(Or... Summer Games: 1988 Edition)?

Lovely animations!

First is a triceratops and possibly 4th is a velociraptor...or maybe a chikenoraptor... last one looks like a dodoasaurus. (roll)

Congrats on the release!

Ah, that explains it then! :-D

@paolo - if the GiP thread is locked but you are still working on the game and have meaningful updates to post, you could PM Darth Mandab asking him to remove the lock.  The locks are there so that we don't have a million threads of vapourware that get bumped by people asking "so when is this going to get made?" 3 years after the last post!

Would you say that having a 4-verb (walk, interact, look, talk) interface would be a big problem in a modern adventure game?  Would it turn off a lot of players or do you think most of the players could handle it?

It wouldn't be a problem as such, but on the whole as Cassie mentioned "Walk" is basically null anyway, so it's more a case of whether you can actually use any interaction other than Talk with the characters you meet.  If that isn't important, I can't really think of an advantage for having a 4-verb system apart from maybe adding more of an old school feel.

I may be a little biased as I'm a fan of the two-click interface on the whole.  Really not a fan of verb coins!  For some games a verb system seems better (for instance I wanted to do something a bit different with Troll Song, so it's got custom verbs) but for Captain Disaster the 2-click interface is working beautifully and doesn't feel the least bit restrictive, because there are plenty of things to do in the game (and several puzzles which use their own specific interface anyway).

Gratz on the release!  Will post it on indiegamenews when I get a minute.

One question - the sprites in the bottom screenshot in your post look a little out of sync with the backgrounds (I'm thinking mainly of the colours, particularly the cyan / very light blues of the barmaid's hair and the guy's backpack) - is this intentional?  Is there a special reason for this?

(Sorry couldn't help asking the question, the backgrounds look nice but this particular detail stood out to me as a bit odd.)

Will definitely be looking into this - thank you so much!

Just to confirm - you are granting free use in commercial as well as freeware games?

Fantastic drawings as always. Nice job! 8-)

I enjoyed the The Force Awakens (having finally got to see it), but... big finale is to destroy a weapon inside what looks like a Death Star (albeit a bigger version) - AGAIN?!?!?  I mean, really?  Could they not have thought of something else?

There was a lot I liked about the movie, but it did all just feel a little too derivative.

Gratz Atavismus, Hobo, Jonas, Peder! ;-D

Will have to find time to play both games.  Funkpanzer - your game looks really cool, hope you're inspired to continue developing it, the month deadline is a killer!
