Tocsik: Did that slug just commit suicide :o.
Nice work!

Here's mine:

Well... he was going to do something absolutely, astoundingly amazing ;).

P.S. It's okay if this entry doesn't count as the slug didn't actually do anything amazing.

I think you need to make his whole body bob up and down rather than just he's head. It would look more like he is actually walking that way.

Two days ago we (my family) finally ordered a new computer to replace our ancient, ten year old dinasaur (aka computer)! ;D The old one has been acting up really bad lately(you can barely even use it without it crashing) so this is a much needed upgrade.

Just to clear this up. Yes it is (suppose to be) a breathing respirator/mask thing! I see what you mean about the shape though.

This game needs a kickstart.

That squid has the best 'poker face' ever!

Ok, so I started to play around a bit with the character.
Here's what I came up with:

I was thinking that maybe he could be the type of scientist/inventor type guy who has been in some horrible accident during one of his projects. He then loses his job at [insert name of corporation here] and gets semi-segregated from the community because of his oddities. Now he works in his basement on his greatest invention yet! [insert plot here]

I don't know. It could work. one thing is whether he looks too evil to be a good guy. On the plus side I got to keep one of his lego hands ;D.

I also changed a few other things as well:
-changed one of his hands to look less 'lego-esque'
-lengthened his arms by one pixel
-changed his hands in the side view
-changed his feet in the side views and slightly on the back view
-changed his hairline in the side views to match up more with the front and back views
-increased the contrast slightly on the legs (hopefully they look less flat)
-oh, and I matched the hand color to the face color
I think that's about it.
What do ya think. As I said I was just playing around with different ideas.

What's inside?

Everything of course!
Yay, now I technically can't lose because whatever Darth was thinking of has to be in there. ;)

Edit:
Quote from: AndailMaybe he thought it would be empty. Har har, got you.

Thanks. I'll try it. :)

Edit:
It worked. ;D I had to change a few things to suit my needs, but other than that it worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help. :)

Thanks for the crits everyone. I'll try to work on the character when I get some time.
EagerMind: I'll try to make sure everything matches up, but don't bag teh legoness ;).
MadReizka: Thanks! I think I see what you mean with the legs. They do look a little flat. I'll try to work on it.
2ma2: He's actually supposed to be a scientist/inventor type guy. Not the labcoat type though. Anyway, I'll see whether I can give him some more character; but I don't know how I'll go (haven't really done anything like this before).

How would I make it so that I can move an object with the arrow keys and then only return to normal gameplay when the enter key is pressed.
What I want is:
1)place object in room with mouse click (I can do that)
2)be able to move object with arrow keys
3)only return to 'normal' gameplay once enter is pressed

The problem I have is that I can't get it to stay on step 2 until step 3 is fulfilled.
I can get the object to move once in a single direction if I am holding the arrow key down BEFORE I place the object in the room, but I want to be able to move it freely in any direction once it has been placed.
Can this be done.

Question 1)
You'll need to make it so that the object is not clickable.
I think the code for it is:
Code: ags
object[your object].Clickable=false;

Replace "your object" with the object number or script name (if you've assigned one).
You would of course change "false" to "true" if you were making the object clickable again.
As for question 2 I'm not really sure if there is a better way to do what you want. I don't think there is, but someone else might know otherwise.

SilverTrumpet: You'll need a program that can make animated gifs. I use ImageReady, but there are also a lot of free programs. I'm not an expert by any means, but I think a lot of people use The Gimp. You could also try checking the big list of paint programs in the critics lounge.
Hope this helped. :)

Critics' Lounge / My first character sprite
Sun 24/09/2006 04:35:08
I thought It was about time that I tried my hand at actually drawing a character, and this was the result.

Ã,  Ã,

2x

I'm probably least happy with the side views, but I've basically gone as far as my limited (read non-existent) knowledge of pixeling will take me. I'd like to hear what you all think and how I can improve it.
Comments and paintovers are of course welcome.

Thanks in advance :)

Quote from: Janik on Sat 23/09/2006 07:31:22Hang on... is this thread about moving, like changing houses? Or what?

The thread is 'moving' in that it moves to different sections of the forum.
It's basically a diary of sorts where you can just post things that happen to you.
So by that definition it could be about changing house if that's what you wanted to post.

Edit: So for example I could post that I just found out that I am teh awesomness := := :=

I hope that made you feel like a big man. :P

I give you a bowl of soup rowing a bycicle over an animal!

Well what-do-ya-know I can't draw cows. :=

Next up: The world's dumnest guy finds fire and some pointy things; and, since enverybody seems to love monkeys, he is being attacked by monkeys at the same time!

It's only a minor issue, but shouldn't the detailing on the top of one of the 'thrusters' be flipped left to right (viewed end on) rather than facing the same direction on both?
Great work by the way  ;D(better than I could ever do). :)

This is my first ever entry in one of these.
I haven't done much animating before, but here's my attempt. ;D
