seems to be back now .... maybe

Yeah, it playes, no more issues so far, and site is accessible once again.

Game acts terribly unstable lately: every couple mins or so it drops framerate till zero, then crashes :/

I got a really small hut now, to the east from Darth's palace with golden roof. It is barely seen on map behind the trees :)
#13304
Umm, Darth, I was walking around your village with some other guys and occasionally got into the moat and couldn't get out because the fence, so I had to put few wooden steps.... hope you'll find a way to remove them while not getting stuck in the moat... I don't know how to make fence myself yet, so I did not destroy a section.

This all looks like a very funny thing; but can someone give me a briefing about how this works? Sorry if I was too lazy to seek around for explanations.
My three main questions are:
- what should I download/register/buy to "play" this? (well, almost got this one myself)
- what is the point of the game (along with building fancy structures)?
- are you editing same "world" here? I saw some maps on http://minecraft.agsarchives.com. Can I participate somehow?

Heh, it's been long time... anyway, I have just noticed last time I added my profile info for beta back in July. Now in SC2 I am Krimson 833 (yeah, Krimson with K, just for fun) on EU servers.

Don't have much time, but may play in late evenings (european time), also in beta I played protoss mostly, now I changed to zergs... not very good with them yet, so I haven't played ladder game for a while, was mostly practicing vs AI.

There's a problem with curtain; unless it is intentional, there's an increasing offset between top curtain line and wooden plank.

I'd suggest writing different speech system, with drawing speech as a text overlay, for example, and using timer to know when to change it. This will allow player to click around on any objects on screen during character conversation.

Hey, speaking of removed scenes, when I beta tested your game, once I used room change debug function to jump around the game, and stumbled on a scene with the animated lighthouse. Was that supposed to be another scene from part 1, or some future part of the game, or just an experiment?

I am looking for the character artist and animator.

There's a very small project I started about half a year ago, but it was totally forgotten (I recall a character artist/animator was too busy to continue working with me, or something). Now I became desperate about not being able to finish anything on AGS for a while, so I decided to ressurect the old game of mine.

The project is the "remake" (or rather fixed version) of my short MAGS game "The Deed". You can check project thread here:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=40009.0
(But please, do not post there, or moderator will lock it, it wasn't updated since February :))

To make things more clear: it should be same game with character art and GUI totally replaced (and certain fixes).

Only change in plans is resolution: I was going to change it to 640x400 (all backgrounds fit that perfectly anyway).

Additionally, here is some artwork done by previous artist:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/aichnnyn113ab32/TheDeed_Art.zip

You may or may not use these; I am ok with either way, as long as sprites are nice and fit the game.
I am not sure about previous artist's opinion on using his work though... but unfortunately I cannot get his response for some time.

(BTW, Vukul, if you are reading this and you want to continue your work, you are welcome :))

Just FYI, I also had some thoughts about making a longer game based on the same story with better graphics (read - better backgrounds) after I finish this remake.

Feel free to PM me anytime if you want to work with me on this.

Regarding sprite scaling: I agree. Perhaps next chapter goes higher res. We'll see! I am having a hard time making up my mind on that issue actually.. So many pros and cons.
I think there's another way, without making hi-res game. You can make extra set of sprite frames for distant views and close ups (one like the insides of plane scene), which would be scaled up/down manually. This will require extra work, ofc, including scripting view changes, but you won't be needing a switch to hires.

I totally agree with Khris regarding sprite scaling. At first I wanted to mention this when was beta-testing, but then I thought it's far too late to fix this, taking total production time into account, so I did not.
Well, perhaps you may consider fixing this in some future "deluxe" version.

Also, I really hate to say this, but
Spoiler

I actually liked the older "beta" soundtrack more, especially "Bad Boss" theme and "Makenas dinner" theme.  :-[

I must notice -what struck me most is that on these pigs' front sprites their tails look like they are holding them in their left hands.

Well, I was just curious, because your posts are in similar style, so to say.
I don't mean anything bad here.

However, I still don't like the background. I'm ok it should stay simple, but IMHO it should be smoother.

What do you mean by "smoother"? Like less contrast and/or less hue amount?

I like it. I don't know if that white thing is meant to be snow... if so I have to say it really doesn't seem snow.
Yeah, I know, it looks like melted icecream  ;D

Ali, hmm, yes your example looks interesting.
Only thing, I was trying to keep the grass in the garden abscent of snow, since magic protects it from colds... but then again, I am not sure people will understand the idea from the first glance.
And ofcourse different amount of snow on sunlight and in shadows - that's what I completely forgot about.

Quote from: straydogstrut Any inspiration to do another picture in a similar style? What does the rest of Olgrad look like? What about Fröken Björk's flower shop?;-)
Maybe, one time :)

Erm... sorry for offtopic, but are icey games and mog.net actually same person?  :P

Few weeks ago I have drawn this for Background Blitz. Back then I was quite proud of my accomplishment, but when I look at this picture now I feel it lacks life somehow. Maybe lighting is bad, or shadows too soft, or something's missing... I need suggestions, because I want to develop this style of art.
