Anybody here enjoy this game as much as I do?

There's a chance I do
When I first saw RCT (it was 2nd, I missed 1st), I was simply fallen in love. Such cute and kind games  ;D

Um, unfortunately I don't have a list of all suggestions in mind atm, and also it is not always obvious how much time this or that feature will take to be implemented; so I must disagree, I don't think user should prioritize suggestions, it's developer's work, and here I am simply throwing in proposal in the suggestions pool, without considering its priority or implementation date  ::)

But, actually I responded above mainly to imply that there's no need to explain those simple things to me.  ;)

Hey monkey, are you kidding me? You seriously thought I woudn't guess that?  :P

To make it clear: ofcourse there's a lot of stuff that could be done by user. What I propose is to make user's life easier.

Are you sure you dont type in "10 + (-7)" on your calculator?  :)
I don't have a clue about what may be wrong with AGS , however. Because, as NsMn said, it must be -70.

I once did a MAGS entry in 5 days!  :P
and also, if you have a great idea but can't do it for MAGS, do it for people  :)

Alright, if you want an honest answer, I was offended by Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Basically because it takes place in my country and for some reason anti-terrorist operation is performed by NATO special forces, instead of native ones.

Taking a wider look, I think I am not offended by sex/violence/gore/obscene language and similar things in my age, but rather by certain ideological orientations, vulgar propaganda (of any type), and, huh, lack of creativity in gameplay  :P.

Speaking of adventure games... I am offended by Sierra humor in their games. I think sometimes it is really tasteless and annoying.

If that's considered having artistic flaws then I wish I had such flaws.

Now when I think about that I start to believe my problem rather lied in sphere of psychology; I just couldn't make myself draw something without having fear of image appear non-realistic, non-mathematically perfect, etc. Then one day I decided that I had enough of that shit, and that I should simply draw, paying less attention to how straight lines are and how correct shadows are layed. That was how I came to this style  :)

Hmm... is this was why Ben wasn't in MSN for couple of months?  ;D

Is this a single question or two questions?

QuoteSince Character.Room and Character.PreviousRoom are readonlys how would I actually use the data to change rooms
character.ChangeRoom(Room-Number, X, Y);

QuoteLike the character is currently in room X, then he moves into room Y where following message is displayed "Hello". This message will only be displayed if he was in room X before.

if (character.Room == Y && character.PreviousRoom == X)
{
   DisplayMessage("Hello");
}

By the way, just a sudden thought. Does the room actually have a background? I have a feeling that without background nothing would show up, even GUIs.

Then again, where's that video you mentioned above?

But why do you use 32bit, if you´re using grayscale? Is there any advantage?
This is a temporary choice, I'll consider downgrading to 16-bit later, when most game backgrounds are ready. I am not sure I can use 8-bit, because there are many hues of gray used per background actually. Maybe I am wrong... well, will check that later anyway.

This project was started as a desperate attempt to find a drawing style which will make my artistic flaws look like a feature of game's style :) At first I hoped it could participate in MAGS January "Early Classic Horror", but I realized really quick that backgrounds are taking too much time to even try. After a pause I am working on this again with most serious intentions.

Open Eyes

Length: Short game
Genre: Mystic horror
Parameters: 640x480, 32 or 16-bit colour*, grayscale**

* not sure yet
** except interface

STORY

Behold Briham, the fantasy manifestation of the XIX century city with a dark ancient history behind fashionable facade...
Women are being murdered in the districts along the Channel, a black fetid stream, running down from the industrial centre. Each time a body is found in the water or on the stream bank. Each time under or near the bridge.
Police is completely stuck, and Inspector Wittstamp asks his old friend private detective William Orthon to join him in the investigation.
Meanwhile, a young lady visits Detective and begs him to find her missing brother.
Orthon cannot suppose that these two cases will lead him to something far more sinister, than a serial killer, something he can't even imagine.

Screenshots:

The game is supposed to look a bit like a comix, with only static images. Animation (especially animating characters) is my weak spot, and that was first reason why I am using such gameplay style. There won't be any speech bubbles though, a common AGS-like speech.
Also it is possible that "Open Eyes" will be more of an interactive story than a game with lots of puzzles. I should underline that this is rather an experiment, which I make to practice my newly invented art style ;)

Regarding progress, I have a full story already, but it is difficult to say how fast I'll accomplish this. Backgrounds are big deal, at the moment I draw them quite slow, but I really hope speed will increase as I get fuly used to this style.
If I'll achieve that, I suppose game could be released somewhere in late spring/early summer.

There's possibly not so well-known AGS forums member, Bosa, who agreed to help me with music; hopefully he will write some eventually, he's got a very nice skill. :)

Basically, if you change Room's ID, you won't be able to set it as character's starting room right away, because it won't be in the list. (re-)Saving room, closing all tabs, etc, does not seem to help. I had to close and relaunch AGS to make the rooms list update.
#13615
I have a suggestion to make AGS create constants for rooms which would store room ID's, as it does for characters. I have a feeling it would be nicer to use them instead of plain numbers in such functions as ChangeRoom, or when checking character.Room property.
#13616
I have similar idea for quite a time ;), but actually in my variant game features parodies on famous AGS characters. I want to make it really badly, but busy with other project(s) atm...

Also, I had a crazy thought about AGS The Gathering card game  ;D. Since I am bad in implementing all of my crazy ideas, anyone may use this one freely (just give me a small credit  ;)).
I mean something like

"Rabbi Stone", Cost: 5 Blue Cups
A: 3 / D: 3
Special Ability: Pay 1 blue cup - Rabbi Stone will talk a character to drop his weapon (-1 Attack until end of turn).
#13617
Monkey, you should give all your examples to those guys, who write AGS Book  ;D
#13618
There's still a missing bracket at the end of function call.
See Calin's detailed explanation above.
#13620
I've told that above, Calin  ::)
