Esper, because youre into these orch. kind of themes, have you heard the Cold case theme?
I believe it's called ES Posthumus - Nara. Before, when i was only hearing it on the ads or on the beggining of the show it was so cool, but after i downloaded it recently, i kinda overdid it.
It's just like with girls. When it's harder to get her, you want her more. Actually I believe it goes for every human being, the fact that we want what we don't/can't have.

what does the occult have to do with hypnosis?

Well Helm, not so long ago in countries pretty near to us people used to put hypnosis in the occult basket. Some people had even put accupuntcure and other "skills" in the same basket, but as we all know it, definitions of something change during time. As people get more accustomed to things they tend to put it in their comfort zone and accept it as an everyday thing. You shouldn't be surprised if after a few dozens of years you see things in our reality as a normal thing whereas today you would associate it to crazy psychists, and socialy uncredible shamans and people alike.
If there is a need to define occult, in my eyes i would define it as something that uses more than average use of the mind, which i think is something we should all be doing and should be researched more professionally.

So the answer to your question would be another question:
What doesn't the occult have to do with hypnosis?

Also, my spelling could be bad in the text so i apologize.

I.

thanks

No sweat.
It's ok that we have different opinions, i was just in the mood for writing back then.

I say we should make a meeting between Terran and our beloved friend Ajck Hotmpson.
(Jack Thompson, shhh).
Why? I really have no idea.

Back to the point. It's funny that people don't really talk about the occult, hypnotising and similar stuff, but that is everywhere.
I believe that anyone who's been using the net for a while has a somewhat e-book library with books of that type. Also what i've noticed not all get read and used, no matter how amazing they could be.

My (new) point is that a lot of these hypno, self-hypno books have a lot of self improving material that a lot of people could be using and improve their lives, and with selfimproving i mean self improving in ANY area, be that physical or mental.

Ok, seems that I am the first one to mention Grim Fandango's theme (amongst others, ofcourse). It was just great, such a great fusion with the main idea.
I can just imagine it now...
th th dh.dh, th.th.th.dh.dh.dh.dh.dh.dhdh th.dh.th  etc. etc. :)

And before i end this post California from Orange county (OC) by phantom planet came to my mind, it's a cool dreamy song.

Yeah, but the thing that is calming me is that it is being worked on during the production.

I have a feeling this will be a great & funny parody game.
Can't wait.
And yeah, when did you say the game should be expected to come out?
Keep up the good work Thomas.

There is much i'd like to discuss, but i don't have much nerve to write it all, so i'll just say that i believe most of the "evil" comes from our insecurities. Someone who is fully confident wont be bothered with some of the provocations this world seeds, the person can rise above it. There are a lot of factors connected, but mostly, it's our PERSONALITY that is actually the mover of things, and believe me, every sane person can change to better with using only his brain.
We are human beings and our destiny is to learn and improve during life. Some do it more while some are stuck in a mind pattern, which can sometimes be destructive. But I'm also talking about the fact that the more confident person could rise above situations where because of people's shyness something bad happens. How many times have you seen, or at least heard about a case where someone weaker was being in any way molested in front of a crowd, and everybody could see that it was for real, and the victim wasn't enjoying it, but no one did nothing. People would just be standing and not believing it, or perhaps being happy that it's not them in that situation.

Well, that brings us to our conclusion. Most people, as someone before mentioned, don't care really THAT much about other people (and i think that's because of more reasons than the obvious), and when something bad happens to them it's mostly superficial. But if it was the case with someone they are close with, or even themselves, i don't think they would be so indifferent about the case, and would really like some help.
I hope you guys understood what i was saying.

The point is that the story of bad and good could be simplified with the saying:
Don't do to others what you don't want for yourself.
( I think I just almost-quoted Jack Thompson! - tho' he was more classy with his words)

i think you should leave ninjas+pirates=lumberjacks, it might as well become your trademark.
All the reviewers will write something about it when they will be reviewing your games. It could be that little thing you will be famous about  :P.

I use Photoshop CS, but i have to stress that it doesnt really matter what version is used, this could have been done in version 4 if i'd had it.

Hmm. What if you had photoshop 3?Then what?

:P
I really appreciate it man, and in such a short notice. I better not start the your-so-cool part you surely want to hear.  :)

I was checking in my posts when was the last time i posted and i have found this post, so you could say it's a bump.
I would recommend
www.reloaded.org to all the newcomers and to look under the adventure section because it has a great deal of AGS classics from Permanent Daylight and Rob blanc reviews through no action jackson to fatman.
These games are free so don't worry about downloading them. :P

Now that I think about it, the old school games seem to be Sierra based whereas now the new schoolers tend to go LEC, Broken Sword or even go innovative!!!
OMG this must be stopped.

C.

p.s. you will lose sierrians!!!
*evil laugh.

I miss the way games were made back then (Permanent daylight, Larry Vales, etc) ...They all had cheesy humor and in jokes...

It's just different now.

Also lots of folks have gone that were just cool as hell...

What are you talking about?
Last I heard 2ma2 is b.a.c.k., tho' not as a regular i believe.

I know when i first joined i looked at him as a god.
His Permanent daylight and Kenny rogers shaped my look at the way games should be made in ags and the whole community.
I used to check his ilb.notrix.net constantly waiting for a news refresh. I still have both versions of WTII.

It seems that everyone wants to go back and reminisce on the past times, but nobody looks at the changes as a new opportunity to make new memories.

There might not be pessi, but there is igor, Dan Clarke and many new characteristic members. It would be cool to be able to live in the present, but for people who have any history with this community it is a bit hard because everything is changed.

We all remember the times we read those lines that described AGS.
A software that allows you to make adventure games similar to those from the early 90's by LEC and Sierrra.
Woo man! I thought I was in a dream.
Tho I'm not a straight noob, i also realize now that i hadn't been a real member back then, and i miss that.
Who would say that it's been more than 3 years. Damn time really goes fast.

What i find funny is that most people here state something like the following:" I remember when i first joined i was lurking for a year and then my account got cancelled, but now i am back. I was here really early. Accept this fact about me!  :P"
They all want to be associated with the AGS' "golden age".

But enough about golden ages, i remember when i first came to AGS it was still on the ez boards and it was the last dos ver. 2.32 i think, and then my account got cancelled and i joined after the summer.
Hmmm. There seems to be a pattern.

And one more thing. Someone mentioned Neole. Now that I think of the times, Neole's time is for me some kind of a old-new school. A transition period.

Someone  should really make an AGS chrono dictionary stating all the periods and the members that were most notable in that age.

It seems that my posts are always theme organized. Cool.

Happy birthday, but what draft are you talking about?

I think he is talking about the NBA rookie draft.
He has to be picked first so hence the desperation.
I can feel you man.

Dan Clarke I love your work and all, and I don't know if this has been asked before, but do you have a tutorial of your coloring style?

If not, could you explain in some simple steps.
And what PS ver. are you using?

This kind of things are very enlightening, thanks :).

General Discussion / Re: Picking a Career
Tue 27/09/2005 17:05:48
I don't think I can really tell you what to choose, but I can feel you cause i'm in a similar situation. I can only tell you that I can see your career starting in the cinematography field and as you said with time you would get your connections and slowly going on other fields and then after making some story boards or whatever, your friend famous director starts working on the fields of directing that you are weak in, and then maybe you two do a film together or something like that.
I mean, I know almost nothing about movie making, and I just visualized your words, and then I have put it in words again.
Because you would probably want to make a lot of money, this could be a good way. Starting
in the more safer lane, and then with experience doing finally what you have always dreamed of with means to do it, unlike perhaps going from studio to studio trying to get that break.
Just my 2c.
What I want for you is to choose your way (yes, yes, very well thought out), and I'm really curious what you will choose.
Keep us informed!
