Nikolas, obviously you have to take into considerations such things as art or music being ripped or borrowed or whatever, when you cast your votes. There are no officials rules regarding the nomination procedure, mostly because there haven't really been a proper one; simply a two step popular vote.

So, to clarify.
Previous system:
1. Nomination (members vote on games/persons for nominations in certain categories)
2. Final election (from the the top five entries in each category, each member will vote for one favourite)

Suggested system this year:
1. Registration (someone (either the author of the game, or simply anybody) registers a game/person and make it receptible for nomination.
2. Nomination (a special board of trusted people will choose five games/persons for each category. These people will be required to give every game an equal share of attention, and make their non-biased decisions based on their respective expertise in each area)
3. Final election (a popular vote will decide the winning entry for each category.

Just to make it clear, Andail, there will be registration for every category separtely(sp)?

One more thing. I saw what Jet wrote about categories. To move the confusion maybe the Music category should be renamed to Original Music & sound award.

I'm sorry for not reading the whole thread, but a Ben Jordan marathon is waiting for me.

Well, to comfort you, I've been a member of this community since 2002, and I've made a whole lot. Of nothing. Yeah. That's right.
A whole lot.  :)

Of course, that is about to change.

If CJ wanted to make money off of AGS, he would've already. He's had more than enough chances in doing so. Many forum members have said that they would be willing to pay for AGS and have even offered to donate money to him as thanks, and he's always refused it.
Now, I'm Pesty and I'm awesome, so I CAN speak for Chris, and I know for 100% super fact that he will be uninterested in your offer, however potentially lucrative it is. But if you don't believe me, you can wait until January 4th to hear it from him.

What I think theatrx is asking is maybe having CJ doing a special version only for himself, and I don't think CJ should ban that kind of idea immediatley.
Although that could make a confusion with the free version having the same features in the future, but i think theatrx shouldn't mind on us having them for free. After all he got what he requested, and he got it first.

And also, about the source code, i think CJ lent it to another person when the linux port was being made.

I found the branch replies actually humourous, contributing to the overall mock up humor.

I just re-read the thread, but with reading the spoilers this time(because now i'm allowed to).

I just want to mention that one of the reasons why I love(and usually get frustrated with) them is when you miss something obvious and you start doing crazy things. You begin to think about so many possibilities, and when you look at it after you solved the puzzle, it's funny.
I was more or less talking about fabiano not finding the right path to the |s|king's|/s| room. I can only imagine what ways of escapping he had in his mind. Or he had none. :) That's ok.
I myself wanted to melt the pictures to use them as a base for the candles so they could stand. :P

That is also why i loved the part when you try to use the spoon to free Victor. The reply is an all-timer. I'm surprised nobody has done something like that in a community like this (or has, but I haven't played the game :P).

Yesterday i remembered that there was the last dec. MAGS game on my HD that i havent played( i was really into playing these days).
Although it was way past bedtime and the state i was in... well let's say i was kind of drunk.

Anyway, I started playing the game and after the so promising title i knew i saw the Apprentice hype happening all over again.
You really did a great job by releasing this game in the last minute(in the nick of time??), for it to be remembered as an 2005 game. :)

Ofcourse, I too would probably play the game in one breath but there was a bug that stopped me. Well, if you wanna know, the bug happened after i managed to leave Victor in the hat alley near the
Spoiler
net on the hole
[close]
. Then i continued to his workshop ALONE, and did such a predictable move that i should be awarded for Bug-stupidity award.
I entered Victors room.

After that I just didn't feel like playing any more.

edit: Or did I? I noticed a savegame here... That must have been some night. :-\ :=

This is a lot of suggestions and I'll try to play most of them. The purpose after all, is to have fun. :)

Also, I may have some questions about networking here and there, he he.

Well, the title says it all, something to enjoy these festive days with, in a cozy place.
But, you need to know the configuration of them first.
The one that is the main, this one, is a standard (3 years old i believe) P4 2.4Ghz, 512 DDR, GeForce Ti4200 128DDR, then there are two laptops, one is a P3 on 700Mhz i believe and the other is a Celeron on 1.5Ghz with 256MB (it says DDR2 and then SDRAM).

Anyways. What I'm looking for is a fun game, no matter what genre, that me and my friends can play. As you see the graphics aren't and can't be a priority.

FPS, racing, RTS, platformers...! just shoot!

And a Merry Xmas too. :)

Is there anyone who is trying to collect all/most of AGS games that were made until now?
I'm really curious. I've got a small collection myself on the last HD, but I don't think I'm even near the number it could be with Amateur adventure games.

I just want a game where I become the character I play and do the kind of things he/she would do.

I read this line from Ghormak, and I thought of something i wanted to share.
I believe a lot of you have played Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Well, I can say with a lot of assurance that you played this game at least once more than 3 hours in a row ( i believe i played it more than 12 hours in a row, but now i'm just digressing :)).
I recently played it again with a few of my friends and i wondered why was it like that and in other games it's not really like that.
What I believe is that in HOMM3 they found an almost perfect formula of character development.Sure, you say, there are hunderds of others RPGs and TB RPG/strategies. So why really Homm3? The longer you play it the cooler it is because you get all these monsters and magics and more spell points and Expert Wisdoms and such like. You enjoy developing your character and castle, but the satisfaction here comes i believe because you earned it somehow. You collect wood, ore, sulphur, money... It doesnt have only RPG elements but also Manager games elements, and I believe that a very high % of people are attracted to   wealth, be it virtual or real.

I'm sorry, I stopped writing in the middle of my thought and went to eat, so now i'm a bit lost, but the point is, i think we all love character building wheter it is an adventure, rpg, fps,a racing game or minesweeper.
That is what has the most "chair-glueing" effect to me.

When I first saw the first background it felt kind of innovative in a Grim Fandangish way. I would put it in the category of adventures with a different style from the average. You could really make a hit if you put the story in the non-usual adventures lane.
Great stuff.

I believe that this proves that we all have a thing for the post-apocalyptic.
We adventure gamers, we.

Or at least an AGS touring Hippie van.
No. Wait!
Two AGS Touring hippie vans.
Oh yeah...

btw we need groupies (and of course, we need groupars for the ladies ( we'll put them in the other van alongside that guy Mark Lovegrove and the Crazy Bunch))

I apologise for the mistake.

You have cheap houses here in Croatia too. Some of them are maybe more "rustical" and need a bit of adapting, but it is a cool place for over the summer and stuff.
Really a thing to discuss. :)

Tho' a mittens house would be cool. In every continent. West, east, north and south.
Suuure! We'll spend the £100 we earn on the game on mittens mansions. Then we will spread them all around the globe! ;D I like the idea, but it need some serious planning :)

Well, the donations shouldn't be based only on the Cd with games and bonus material, but people could really donate to the building of the house(mansion/shack - whatever has four walls and a roof -<insert witty remarks here>). I believe there could be something as a non-profit but still profit organisation inside of AGS. Maybe it will be more clear in a few years, but why not start planning now?
The internet is a crazy thing, and what if this community lasts at least 10 years?
Let's say there are like 20 oldies who have the means to contribute up to 5$ per week. Then you have people who can donate about 5$ per month. Let's say 100 of them can. There are about 600 users with over 50 posts. Let's say half of them donates 1$ per month.
That is 400$ from the oldies a month, 500$ from various folks, 300$ from non-frequent posters per month.
Now, there also goes the age+job factor.
In this plan (which could maybe work for a month or two, and then it could fade slowly), the Mittens cottage fund could raise up to 1200$ per month. With a sum of 14400$ per year, put it in 10 years, a sum of 140.000$ is POSSIBLE. It could be more it could be less, depending on the motivation presented for making the project.

That was just me doing some calculations, but wouldn't it be sweet to have a real gathering place for special occasions?
We can plan. Who of you old forum people had ever tought back in the day that a thing like mittens, or a thing like 3000 users could be possible in the near future?
Maybe i'm wrong, maybe this whole thing will go under in less then a year, but until then i think there are more community bonding options for everyone.

Or, we can let the money build on some account, pay pal or whatever, and when the time comes we can invest it, be that more bandwith, software tools, stocks, real estate for mittens, whatever.

Tho' a mittens house would be cool. In every continent. West, east, north and south.
And also i think  BONUS material would be pretty advisable. At least some.
As yahtzee said: Now I can pay 13 of my phone bill.

Who has knowledge in advertising should do plans like that (game + Bonus, game + undownloadable demo for the sequel(which is actually a bonus), whatever).

Hey ljubi.
Don't worry if it's crap. You will get better with time and the critics lounge.
Stay cool.
