Recruitment / Assistance for MAGS Feb. 2019
Fri 01/02/2019 11:41:21
Searching for background artist and a spriter/animator for MAGS project.

Pending title for the game is "The Conifer Skunks: Thyra's Fancy Search".

Here is a reference of the characters: https://photos.app.goo.gl/8mrfKNDBFhRNv2s6A

So I'm seeking someone who's good at doing sprites of anthro characters.  The animations are just the basic walk, talk, and also reaching out to get/take items.  Preferably the style of a 1980's cartoon.

Also, need to find a good background artist.  Including the objects and such.  Preferably the style of a 1980's cartoon.

Further details will be discussed as they develop.

I might be able to enter this one.  Another of my anthro character sets could be this.

In my mind, I could imagine a skunk lady looking for some fancy clothes to get ready for a nice night with her husband.  (Adding in romance to go with the February/Valentine's motif too.)

I'll be sure to post in the Recruitment thread if anyone would like to join as well.

But in any case...

Challenge Accepted!  (I can't seem to find a good image of the meme, so a text will do.)

I eagerly await this game--I have it Wishlisted on GOG.

Maybe you could team up with someone else to make it an RoN game?
If you and/or someone else could come up with all the ideas I'd even be willing to do graphics and the programming if no one better could be found.

That'd be an interesting thought--maybe one of my previous characters, like my skunk angel Rosaura helping Mika Huy for instance.

But, back on the current topic of this thread--best of luck to all who enter this.

If I weren't so busy with other things... *sigh*

Though I admit, it would be kind of fun to see our beloved cat-burglar-turned-paranormal-investigator, Trilby, team up with another AGS hero.

@Sinitrena That's the one.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Remember when I made that sci-fi Momotaro story for one of the past Fortnightly Writing competitions?

Well, I've got even bigger ambitions for that story now.  And some other stories like it.

Currently, I'm retooling, revamping, making a deluxe edition... basically improving that story.

Why?  I'll tell you why.  I'm planning to submit the improved version to "Fantasy & Science Fiction" magazine!

Wish me luck on the endeavor!

Hi

Thought I would make my game based on the Wizard of Oz: Scarecrow and the meaning of life............

Not gonna quote the line...

Not gonna quote the line...

Not gonna say for--

*slaps himself*

Ow!  *rubs sore cheek* That was close.

Anyway, let's see where this goes.

Yeah, I saw the Future Vintage Gaming video of this and...
Spoiler
what would've really softened the blow and added some cheer-up is making a reference to the Darwin Awards.

and whatever that goofy rat thing in The Lion King was supposed to be.

I think you mean Timon.  He's a meerkat.

Sadly this is something that has affected our community, so worth a reminder to please seek help if you're struggling, and to reach out to friends and family if you know that they're struggling.

So true.  I've said it before, I say it again.

When a person takes his/her own life, it becomes a mystery to me.  A mystery I know I can never solve, but wish I could.

That mystery being: What could a person have been going through that made him/her think that life was no longer worth living?  What horrible pain, heartache, or trauma was so agonizing that he/she could think the only escape is death?

So many questions, so few answers.

I could so see a made up tarot card in this, if I were ever to enter this one.

Spoiler
Well, the reason for the lackluster ending in my entry is because since I have a LOT of things going on in RL (especially an RL job), there really wasn't much time to plan a sufficient one.  Even WITH help, I'd just barely make it.

Anyway, after this MAGS is done (regardless of who wins), I think I might be done with MAGS for the year (I'll probably start MAGS stuff again sometimes next year).  Reason I say that is I want to focus game-making energy on an AGS thing I'm WAY behind on.

I just had this thought...

Suppose... for sake of discussion, if Infamous Adventures did a remake of Space Quest III?

What kind of add-ons you think might make it fresher, more than just a graphical update of the original.

(I bring this up because I had this funny thought--I bet I can make myself sound dorky enough to try out to be the voice of Elmo Pug, the head honcho of Scumsoft and main antagonist.  But maybe that's just me.)

Anyway, what are your thoughts of if Infamous Adventures does choose to do so?

Oh, DBoyWheeler...please please make your speech fonts bigger, I find them difficult to read (nod)

Not sure how.  I was using the default fonts.  Don't know how to make them bigger without effing them up.

Thanks, Mandle.  Yeah some of the mistakes in the dialogue, I didn't notice till now--I guess I was starting to get tired.  (laugh)

Yeah, I mistakenly called Blondbraid "Blondbeard".  In game even!  Oops! :-[

Anyway, our entry is completed:

At last!  The game Blondbraid and I have collaborated on is complete!

Behold--

Cola Skunkette: A Bit of Cleanup!

In this, Panphila Baniliakola needs to get rid of some offending graffiti that vandals put on the side of her "Cola Skunkette" soda shop, so her business can be family friendly again.

(The graffiti is in symbols.  That's the "Censorship" part of the theme--a "creative censoring", if you will.)

Helping her is a very polite young squirrel boy named Lucas Bolota.  Can they clean up the nasty spraypaint job before a family gets offended?

[Um, the sound effects might be a bit faint, so you may need to turn up the sound volume when playing.]

Game can be found here: https://archive.org/details/PanphilaMAGS2018
And here's the page of the game on this here site: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2277/

[Edit] In game, I mistakenly called Blondbraid "Blondbeard".  Oops! :-[

The collab project between me and Blondbeard is going well.

Right now it's the coding phase.  Once I'm done with coding, I'll test it out at my end, and then show it to Blondbeard to see if there's any debugging needed.  We can probably worry about music and sound effects after that.
