All Entries must be in by Saturday 12th August, at which time voting will start, and winners will be announced the following week on Saturday 19th June

Did you mean Saturday 19th August?  Yeah, we all have our brain farts at times.

Thanks, I bookmarked the animating tutorial.
#343
Wish I could participate, but I've recently started training for my new job.

Still, I could see a possible game featuring one of the Old Testament prophets (like, say, Elijah).

General Discussion / Farewell, June Foray
Thu 27/07/2017 14:32:09
(sigh) Another voice artist gone.

We recently lost June Foray.

Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Natasha (also from Rocky & Bullwinkle), Magica DeSpell (my favorite Disney villainess), Ma Beagle, Granny from Looney Tunes...

A long roster of characters now silenced with her gone. :~(

The Rumpus Room / Beep Beep I'm a Sheep!
Sun 23/07/2017 00:15:48
Who has seen on YouTube that weird-as-hell music video "Beep Beep I'm a Sheep"?

Seriously, a video weird like that (hell, even just the SONG that's weird as it is) should be a future MAGS idea.  Whoever wins the next MAGS competition, think you might like this suggestion?
Spoiler

For the curious, here's the video in question.

Yeah.  Maybe in a future MAGS (or otherwise Adventure Game Studio project) I can finally get help with it.

Because:
(1) While not abysmal at animating, animation isn't my strong point either.
(2) If I had a team, I could get done with games much quicker.

You can change doors's location from middle of the rooms to side of the rooms like "____||_||_____||_||____"
Or just make corridor two sided like "===;;===;;==="
And you can always ask me "wtf are you doing there?" because I don't know too.

And I think there won't be problem with legs animations in our game because we will cut them!

Well, I can't change it now.  I was trying to transfer my files to my external hard drive, but my computer was starting to f*** up!  And in my rush to transfer files, I accidentally deleted them, including the original AGS file that made it possible to update it.

So now it's kinda stuck as is.

It is some nice little game. I wished we can look into drawers and stuff or just hear what is in them, but it is ok.
The only annoying thing is character... was... too... slow... Or the corridor was too long.

Most likely the corridor.  I wanted to space out the doors so the rooms would be so Tardis-ish.

Well, the theme has the character visit an area three times.

So, Nannulf here visits the main stage three times:
Spoiler

(1) At the intro
(2) In the middle of the game to see what he hadn't noticed the first time around--in this case, what Viggo thought was a bad luck omen, but in reality was a discarded toy.
(3) The ending, where he introduces--and guest stars with--the band.

Well... after uploading it, I tried to transfer it to my external hard drive and things started to f*** up!

I accidentally deleted the files trying to fix the problems with transfer, so I can't fix the game anymore.  It is what it is.

BTW, I know it looks like the Monty Python department of silly walks, but I'm not good with animating, okay?

My entry into the July 2017 MAGS Competition is done!

Behold...

Heavy Metal Nannulf: The Strange Stage

Get it here: http://paladindboy.gamejolt.io/nannulfmagsjuly2017

A band is visiting the neighborhood of Nannulf Tungmetall, a serious heavy metal and rock music aficionado, but something is preventing them from coming out on stage.  Nannulf decides to investigate!

The songs here (only two) were made by Kevin MacLeod of www.incompetech.com (he's got some cool tunes).  Sound Effects (only three, but those are probably all that are needed) from RPG Maker XP.

All the rest provided by me, D-BoyWheeler!

Anyway, check this game out!

I'm almost done with mine.  Just need to find some music, make up a nice ending card, and do some final testing, and I should be ready to submit my entry.

[Update]
My entry is now ready!  The game is called Heavy Metal Nannulf: The Strange Stage

The article in the Complete Games thread tells more: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=55043.0
#353
Well done.  Looking forward to the next coloring ball.
#354
I'm covering more ground on my project.  I'm almost done with all the rooms, and then I can program them.  Once I see everything's in working order, I'll hunt for some music to fit the setting.
#355
Wow!  Yeah, congrats Brane & Tycho.

Man, early on, I thought Scavenger was gonna win it with Terror of the Vampire, but somehow Robolovers had the energy to pull through.

Anyway, again, props to those two!  Let's see what cool theme they can make up come August!
#356
I'll say!

Spoiler

And as of this post, Robolovers overtook Terror of the Vampire.  Seriously, prior to this turn of events, I thought TotV was going to win this month!

Also, my game didn't get a vote.  But neither did Bustin' the Bastille--which is a shame because I liked it, especially the hilarious ending.

Well, to Stupot, I want to say, there are times MAGS has a big turnout (like this time around), and there are times where maybe two or three (at most) come in.  But either way, MAGS is one of those great competitions that deserves to stay with us.
#357
Wow!
Spoiler
Robolovers caught up with Terror of the Vampire in the voting!

I'm surprised!  This is gonna be a close one!

Well, I got done with the GUIs (with the exception of the "GUI" for the title-screen--I'll do that one when I start work on that).  The Inventory GUI was giving me flak earlier, but I got it to cooperate now.  I mean, there are only three Inventory Items for it, so I won't need up/down arrows, but still, we kinda need a GUI for it.  I think the big hassles (namely the character animations) are behind me so I can start working on the rooms and such.

[Update 7/15/2017] I got the main room of the game set up... the stage (the place Nannulf needs to visit three times in game).  I'll work on the backstage area next, and then each of the rooms of the four band members.  Yes, I know I kinda effed up the curtains, but what can ya do?

Found what was going on... My inventory window was pushed too far to the back (I was trying to make a frame for it, but needed the inventory window further to the front for inventory to work).
#360
It is set to false.  And it still doesn't work.

I clicked the arrow on an inventory item, and no matter how many times, it doesn't activate the inventory.  In fact, I can't even use the "Look Cursor" to have the character describe the item.
