I think I'll give this a try.  But in this case, the story from the point of view of the heir (I'm amazed no one tried that yet).

***

My name is Crysta Maria São-João, but you can just call me Crysta.

I was walking down the street when I met a middle-aged man in a business suit.

He asked me, "Are you Crysta Maria São-João?"

I meekly replied, "Yes, sir."

He gently took me by the hand and said, "I need you to come with me.  It's urgent."

I went with him and we went to--to my shock--a funeral home.  My blood ran cold when I saw whose funeral it was on the sign: Tomasia São-João, who was my aunt from my father's side.  I knew she was ill, but never knew till now it was terminal.

The funeral was kind of a traditional Portuguese funeral, since my family and I were of a Portuguese background--the European kind, not Brazilian, but I did have friends who were of Brazil.  But I digress.

After the funeral services, the man took me aside and said, "I hope I am not being rude, but there is now the matter of your late aunt's estate."

I was the only one other than the man in another room.

He cleared his throat and explained, "Since your other relatives had little interest in this inheritance, if any, Miss Tomasia left all to you.  Permit me to play this DVD--it's sort of a video 'living will', you might say."

Soon, the video began, and the title screen said:

"The Last Will and Testament of Tomasia Gabriela São-João"

After that title screen, my aunt Tomasia showed.  She then spoke:

"Olá, my dear sobrinha(1) Crysta.  If you are watching this, then I must be on my way to paraíso(2) now.

"You have always been very close to me.  I do not play favorites, since that would be wrong, but you have shown to have a closer bond to me, than the other nieces and nephews.

"As we know, I have created a wonderful makeup and jewelry company, and a lot of the public loved it.  The other nephews kinda felt awkward being leader of it, and the other nieces seemed a little reluctant to learn--but you showed your desire to continue the tradition, and even add in a few creative elements of your own.

"Thereto, my entire company and fortune--a very vast fortune--I leave to you.

"Aside from an inheritance, I want to give you a final piece of advice--don't die alone as I have.  Find a man to spend the rest of your life with.  I know, it may be difficult, but it is not impossible.  You can do it.  I know you can."

After the video will ended, the man briefly gave me the information to Aunt Tomasia's wealth, the keys to the mansion, important information of the company, and so forth.

But, her final piece of advice was another thing I was contemplating... I was considering looking for romance prior to learning of my aunt's passing, but her warning to not die alone as she did, this made it even more important.  For now, though, it was time to reflect on Aunt Tomasia's life.

Footnotes:
(1) "sobrinha" = "niece"
(2) "paraíso" = "paradise" or "heaven"

Damn, just BARELY missed entering this coloring ball (wanted to make a mermaid with extra long hair).  Well, I vote Creamy's (1), Blondbraid's (2), and AnasAbdin (3).

This is Bob the time traveller and his time travelling penny farthing bicycle.
Somehow he always manages to be late all the time.

DAYUM!  You'll be one hard act to follow!

Edited by mod: Please do not quote a whole post together with all its images.

And: DBoyWheeler...I'm loving the simple, cartoony style! I would love to play that game!

Thanks.  Again, at the very least, this gives me practice on how to do backgrounds completely digitally, instead of having to pencil them out first.

Well, thought I'd try my hand at this... at the very least, give me a bit of practice for doing backgrounds digitally without having to pencil first.  (laugh)

Here's my attempt at it.  Basically on the beach at night, near a derelict barque--perhaps the hero/heroine would encounter a ghost pirate within?

Well, coming this month of July (God willing), I plan to go solo with that Sarimento AGS project, since no one was willing to take up my project.

I looked at some games and noticed Montague's games (especially Cayenne Pepper), as well as another AGS user's game "Cherry's Quest for Coffee".  And saw that those games looked good despite their simplistic art style.  So maybe I can do the sprites and BGs in similar styles. (I mean, let's face it--I just don't have the attention span or patience to learn ThreeOhFour or Ghost's styles, or some of the more artistic AGSers' styles; but at least I can do what Montague did and show that even simplistic art can be beautiful).

Just wanted to get something off my chest.

[I put this in Adventure Related Talk n Chat because I didn't have any graphics (aside from the pencil sketches) yet for the Critic's Lounge--maybe when I do have graphics, I'll start posting there.]

Wow, even after this MAGS is over, this idea could be perfect for other Adventure games.  Why should medieval, modern, and futuristic eras have all the fun, right?

DAYUM!  I might have to put this game on my Steam Wishlist!

Ah, Pokemon Essentials. Great and easy to use engine. :-D
The only reason why I've never made my own Pokemon fangame is due to the sheer amount of pixel art that would be involved for the main character.

What kind of help are you looking for exactly?

Also, why do all of your characters have animal tails and ears?
I don't have a problem with it, it's just that they kind of looked forced and out of place.

Just want to be different from your typical Pokemon universe.

Anyway, looking for spriters (both the overworld and battler--I'm using official Pokemon up to 4th Gen, so no Fakemon).  And maybe some tilesets.  A few midi music peeps would not be amiss either.

Aside from my Adventure Game Studio project ("Sarimento on Hyperborean Island"), I also want to do my first Pokemon fangame with Pokemon Essentials for RPG Maker XP.

But I can't do it alone--I need all the help I can get!

The project is called Pokemon Tiger/Rabbit/Dragon.

More information can be found here: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=369153

So... any Pokemon Essentials users out there amongst AGS users?

@slasher Good God!  Think we put in enough fart jokes?!  (Don't answer that!)

As for me, eh, even if I DID find time to do the MAGS here, I'm not sure how I can do the "Jumpin' Jack Flash" theme well... mainly since I know so little about Rolling Stones, and I want to keep it classy if possible (unless of course I really WAS in the mood for gas jokes).

But, again, good luck to everyone participating.

Man... if only I could take part in competitions at this time.

But if I were to do so... why do I have the voice in my head screaming out for me to a parody of the Cheat from Homestar Runner?!
#653
I had a good chuckle from the cracks Baron started.  (laugh)

Best of luck to the writers here.

Wow!  Neato stuff!
#655
Oh, to be able to find time to take part in these competitions...

But... if I did decide to enter this...

Well, who said it had to be a nursery of caring for babies?  It could also be the kind of nursery where you'd find newly sprouted plants to put in the garden.

Just a thought.

@DBoy: I'd love to make a Pokemon-like game in AGS one day!

Ironic how you brought that up, Retro Wolf... I want to someday do a Pokemon AGS series... basically a Pokemorph (anthro Pokemon) version of Quest for Glory.  It even plays out like said series, where you can select a Warrior, Magician, or Thief, and even has a chance to make a Paladin!  :-D  The main character is an anthro Rattata (later Raticate), but there'll be other anthro Pokemon too.

But... back to the main subject of the MAGS theme (before we get too sidetracked).  I have way too much on my plate as it is (yes, the story of my life), but if I were to take part... I'd find a way so each month has a different season (a la Pokemon Black/White/Black2/White2; this would prevent people from having to wait three whole months for a new season to appear), and some of the quests (or at least the inventory items) can only be found at a certain season.
#657
In a small way, it makes me think of Pokemon Black/White/Black2/White2, in that different things happen depending on the seasons.

Anyway, best of luck to all who participate in this.
#658
Yeah, it has been a while since I saw activity with Reality on the Norm.

Oh, and Stupot, who's the hot chick in the red getup?

Anyway, best of luck to all who enter.
