The bugs pointed out by DBoyWheeler and Shadow1000 have been eliminated. I also included a word in the dialogs which I had missed previously. Everything is fine and working now. I personally found some bugs too and killed them. This time, I've really throughly tested the game several times and its working fine.

As promised, I've given credits to our "Bug Identifiers". Shadow1000 and DBoyWheeler: Please check out your profile. :)

Thanks for the street cred, dude!  When I get a chance, I'll play the new, improved version.  Also, I look forward to the start of the next MAGS (Sept. 2013), because I have developed an interest in partaking in that.  Just a side note on this, but worth stating.

Anyway, here's hoping more people play this game.

Yep, I got as far as helping the hero's mom with the dish.  But when I went to talk to her again, the game crashed.

That's another thing.  The player has to go through dialogues twice.  For instance, after giving the book to the mom, she mentions it again, until you talk to her again, and she gives the recipe.  Might want to check the variables to make sure the dialogues aren't repeated.

I think I shall give this game a go!

Yeah, about that no Sierra-style GUI rule...

Perhaps a possible exception to the rule here could be in the style of Space Quest VI, where the Walk, Talk, Interact, etc. buttons are not hidden but in plain sight along with the inventory thing.

Perhaps a Kyrandia-style interface might be good too?

I also like for the dialogue parts how Discworld used graphics to denote what the discussion would be about.

I think he'd make a great Reality on the Norm character, wouldn't you?  ;)

And maybe in other "Joke Games".  I'm sure for every REALLY good adventure game, there has to be a s**tty adventure game for our beloved nerd to parody.

Did you all hear?  There's gonna be an Angry Video Game Nerd GAME!  Yes, you heard that right!

If you want to watch it on YouTube... click here.

Also, now that you think about it... wouldn't it be cool if there were an AGS game about the AVGN?  (I forget if this topic was brought up already, but still, it'd make a great AGS project in the future)

I think it's gonna be 32 bit or whatever true color is.

I plan to have the game be in a 640x480 window, as well.

Yep, I saw that. I considered it a bit vague so thought I'd ask. No problem.
What can I say?  The 1980's was kind of the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons, huh?

If you could give an example, what kind of art style would you say you are aiming for?

I mentioned in the first post of this thread that I'm looking for something in the style of a 1980's Saturday morning kid's cartoon... like, say, The Raccoons.

Or maybe the Ewoks.

Yeah... well, it was a good attempt.  Hopefully August will get more people into it.

And I'm hoping to try my hand in a future one.  I'm planning to take part in the September one, but we'll see.

Is than an NES in that one room?!  ROFL!

I liked your Baldy sprite and Anian's version of the same.

[Update] *sigh* I guess it was a matter of time before something I said (as innocent as the intention was) would be misinterpreted as a sleight.  Well, thank you all for your help, and again, I'll try to keep those in mind when working on future stuff.

At the same time, I just gotta remember what densming said in one of his tutorials on YouTube, that you don't have to be a perfect artist to use AGS (though at the same time, decent art skills kinda helps--but it's not like life or death, or anything like that).

I guess so.

Um, not to be nasty or anything (I don't intend it to sound that way), but now you know why I was seeking someone to help with the sprites and stuff... I can only do so much myself.

I'm better with a pencil in my hand than my hand on the mouse (I don't have oekaki or SAI or any of those).  Even then, my drawing skills are hit-or-miss.

I guess part of it is when it's on paper, it kinda gives me the optical illusion that things are symmetrical (assuming it's front view and all other things being equal) and level.  But when I scan it in, it gets a bit off-kilter.  Maybe it was the way I was holding the paper down at the time...

Nice.  I saved them so I might attempt to animate them as best I can later on.

Hey... I wasn't sure which forum to post this, or if it had already been posted, so if it's in the wrong spot, go ahead and move it, and if this is already addressed, go ahead and close it and show the link to the forum that this is brought up.

But I was trying to visit Ben304's Blog, but when I do, there's a warning that there's malware on it.  Which is a shame because I want to see Ben304's cool site, but don't want my computer all screwed up.

So, ThreeOhFour, if you're reading this, you might wanna check on your BlogSpot site.  And others, be careful when visiting.  And for all of you with personal sites, check them often to ensure friends don't get screwed up just by visiting them--that would be bad.

Ha ha, I like the name "Baldy".  Yeah, those are boots on his feet, btw.

Ancient Aliens...

Are you a big fan of the History Channel by any chance?  Because there's a show on H2 (the second History Channel) and occasionally on the main History Channel called "Ancient Aliens".  As that one teacher in "The Incredibles" would say: "Coincidence?  I think NOT!"

Anyway, the screenshots show this looks like a rather neat game.

From what I've seen in previews and other things so far, I just KNOW this'll be a smash hit!

I said it before, I'll say it again--it'd be a shame if this doesn't get a sequel... or even become a series.

Well, I have some how to draw books, so that's how I penciled it... it's just when I'm converting it into sprites that I start running into trouble.

But then, I forgot to set it to 1 pixel per inch or cm.  That may have been where the trouble started.  But live and learn, right?

I'll see if I can make up for it with other characters in the game, as well as for future games.
