Hey, nice!  Maybe this could after the player helps Minerva sober me up.

For how she does so... you know that one demo of Freddy Pharkas, where you have to use an empty beer bottle and slip coffee into it?

[As for what caused me to get drunk... maybe I had lost a friend in a battle with a really ridiculous monster--like a living pile of stuffed animals or a blob of Mountain Dew... something ridiculous that'd fit with RotN.  Because of the loss, I took to the bottle.]

Tea Virus?!  THIS I gotta see!

Well, it's good for a first attempt, and I like how Anian helped in tidying up a bit and giving you some improvement pointers.  I hope someday you might get a chance to help in a game project, or even do your own someday... I'm sure with practice you'll do well.

Worry not, the popo shall never know of our forbidden love

*fake British accent* That's NAUGHTY!

Man... serious progress here.  Maybe once it's completed (and has a good walkthrough), maybe I oughta do a Let's Play video of this game on YouTube.  Hey, Charlie Foxtrot had a good playthrough video series, so why not this game when it comes out?  (Only with a Let's Play, there'll be some dialogue from the player too!)

Anything else you're still in need of? I'm no artist, unfortunately, but I'd like to learn more about AGS script too.
Cool!  Maybe you, Jakey, and Adeel could cover each others' bases in a way.

*sigh* Now we still need a spriter for characters, a BG designer, and maybe a few more musicians.

Wow!  This is seriously cool!  Both the original, and the updated version that Andail did!

As I said... if these previews are any indication, this will DEFINITELY be one of the most downloaded homebrew adventures!  Especially among QfG fans.

I know this will do well with adventure gamers everywhere.  So my personal hope is that there'll be a sequel.  I may have said it earlier in the thread, but it bears saying again--this should be a series!  It'd be a shocking shame if it doesn't.

Your face is so ugly, you break the mirror while shaving.

At least I don't have snakes in my hair headbutting it!

(Sorry, that's the best I could think of.)

Anyway, my turn:

Did you learn your fighting style from cavemen?  It's so primeval!

(Note: You don't HAVE to do a rhyme for the comeback here)

Funny funny funny...

For the record, the "sexy slave" is called Minerva.

[Edit]  Maybe one of the quests is try to sober me up--not only so that I'll be nicer to Minerva, but that I can finally regain my ability to fight (in the drunken state, the fighting ability wouldn't work properly).

All Englishmen are secretly evil, biding our time to reclaim the British Empire!
Fear our tea powered crumpet machines!
LOL!  Good comeback there, dude!

Well, my voice is a tad monotone when I'm not talking to a person other than myself, so maybe I could be a voice for a computer or robot.

So did you like the sprites?

Yeah the sprites are pretty good.  And hey, considering my adventure loving self, I can imagine RotN versions of the swordfight insult stuff from Monkey Island.

What is this guy's back story? I was thinking borderline alcoholic with delusions of grandeur.
The woman? I think she's fed up of being this guy's sexy slave... so she hatches a plan to kill him, but has to make it look like an accident.
Sounds like the potential for a good game!  ;)

Edit: I'm absolutely not suggesting that you're anything like that, I'm just being silly.

You're evil.

The Gaia sprites are meant to be models, so others can make sprites in their own art style.

Reality-on-the-Norm / Donation for RotN
Fri 14/06/2013 23:22:51
Hey, all...

I would like to make a donation to the RotN universe.  I'd like to donate my Gaia Online characters to be used in future games.

Here's my main persona, D-BoyTheFighter.

Springtime setting:

Summer/beach setting:

Default(or autumn) setting:

Winter setting:

D-Boy the Fighter is a cool dude out looking for adventure.  And he's a swordsman, so if he were in RotN, maybe it could incorporate some of the swordfight mechanics of the Monkey Island games.

Another character to donate is D-Boy's servant girl, Minerva (known in Gaia as "MinervaWheeler").

Spring and Autumn setting:

Sexy Tropical Dancer setting:

Summer/beach setting (her default):

Winter setting:

(I have no idea why her hair goes through her hood--it's probably a glitch in Gaia)

Anyway, Minerva is very amiable and wants to help others when she can.  But she is also wise enough to know if something sounds too good to be true.

So, if you think these are good, I give people permission to use these characters in Reality-on-the-norm.  All I ask is to keep things in good taste, please.

I've finally come up with a new activity, to go along with MAGS and OROW... if it's okay with all y'all!

Title: Cross Cultural Exposure

Description: A crazy idea... of combining Japanese anime/manga characters with Western adventure games (both well-known and obscure).  For example, Sailor Moon and the other Sailor scouts in the Space Quest universe.  Or Dragon Ball (original, Z, or GT) in the Quest for Glory universe.  Or maybe One Piece characters in the Monkey Island world (if either of which is your thing).  Perhaps you'd prefer Cardcaptor Sakura in Discworld or Kyrandia.

Or maybe the other way around, with the Daventry Royal Family in one medieval-themed anime (or maybe in the Saint Seiya universe), or Roger Wilco in one of the Tenchi anime (Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Universe, or Tenchi in Tokyo).  Or maybe something as crazy as Rincewind (from Discworld) in the world of Pokemon!

Whatever it is, just take one anime and one Western (American or European) adventure game, and find a way to combine the two.

Periodicity: Have it occur every three months (yep, a seasonal thing), and have it last about a month long.

Type of competition: There is a winner involved, and voting will go for two weeks after the main competition time ends.

Thread administrator: The winner gets to pick the theme of the next "Cross Cultural Exposure".

So... if this is a go, who wants to pick the first anime/adventure game combo?

It went by relatively quickly, and didn't do serious damage in my neck o' the woods.

The Rumpus Room / Really stupid math joke!
Thu 13/06/2013 14:55:31
Three kingdoms surrounding a lake had fought for centuries over the island in its center. They finally decided to settle the dispute once and for all with a battle. The first kingdom sent fifty knights, each with three squires. The second kingdom sent only twenty knights, each with only two squires. The poor third kingdom sent only one old knight, plus one lone squire.

The night before the big battle, the first kingdom's knights cavorted and drank heavily as their squires sharpened weapons and polished armor. The second kingdom's knights also cavorted and drank heavily as their squires sharpened weapons and polished armor. Even the third kingdom's lone knight cavorted and drank too much, while his lone squire prepared dinner by slinging a long rope over a high branch to hang his cook pot over his campfire.

The next morning, when the battle began, all the knights were too hung over to fight, so the squires fought instead.

They battled for hours but when the dust finally settled, one solitary figure limped away from the carnage: the third kingdom's lone squire was victorious!

Which just goes to prove: the squire of the high pot and noose is equal to the sum of the squires of the other two sides!

Hoo, boy...

Tomorrow (June 13th) from 5 to 8 AM EDT, we are expecting a derecho storm, so that may present a possibility of a power outage.

So... if you don't hear from me, you'll know why.

What's a derecho, you ask?  Well...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derecho

Rarer than tornadoes, but with milder winds... but what they lack in wind speed, they make up for with size--they can cover quite a swath.
