If and when I get better with this software...

I noticed the ratings system concerning language, nudity/sex, and violence for these games.

For my games... the nudity in them (if any) will be undetailed tasteful nudity (UTN for short).  As they say in Monty Python, "no naughty bits".  It'll be no worse than, say, Princess Sally (from Sonic) minus vest and boots.  Or with humans, no worse than mannequins without clothes.  That's as far as I go with nudity.

If there are any sexual scenes in my games (if and when I get better with AGS), they will only be between a husband/wife pair, and ONLY under such circumstances (heterosexuality is a given).  But this too would be UTN.

I just want to say this up front, so others can know that at least I have SOME restraint in the material in my ideas.

I'm needing a team for my first project.  It's called "Exploring AGS World", since this me getting my feet wet, so to speak, with AGS Software.

Well, folks, apparently, even for a small game (and my first), I may need help.

I've already prepared concept art of characters, as well as made the rooms and the items.  I just need sprites/views of the characters, sound effects and music, and a GUI for the final part of the game.

The main character is a young boy named Donald.

Here is the concept art for reference of sprites:
Front View:
Side View:
Back View:

Sprites Needed: Walking about (all four directions), speaking (all four directions), picking things up (side views only), giving and getting items (side views only).

This is Christi, an Ice Skater that Donald meets in one of the areas.

All her animations will be side view, of course.
Sprites Needed: Standing still, speaking, going to and from the ice, ice skating, giving Donald an item.

(As for the "items" Christi and the other characters give, I'll explain soon)

This is a generic Dwarf Miner, whom Donald meets in another area.

As you can see from the artwork, his animations will be him in side view or back view.

Animations needed: Mining (back view), Getting and giving item (side view; again, the items will be revealed shortly), Forging special item (back view, kneeling), and Speaking (side view).

Finally, here are Damien and Elise, a newlywed couple that Donald meets (they're in a hot spring).

Animations needed: Damien talking to Elise (same direction as concept art); Damien talking to Donald (same, but slightly looking toward Donald); Elise talking to Damien (same direction as concept art); Elise talking to Donald (her head turns slightly to look at Donald); Elise giving item to Donald.

********

As for the Items, I made those already.  The main plot is Donald had slipped into a strange world and he's trying to get back home (an overused theme, but we'll go with it).  The five items (yes, five--again, I'm still getting used to the AGS software) are a green crystal and four keys (the green crystal Donald gives to the Dwarf Miner to forge into one of the keys).

The five rooms are the starting room, the Icy Vale (where you meet Christi), the Crystal Cave (where you meet the Dwarf Miner), the Misty Lake Shore (I tried to make up the mist and the special light that banishes the mist), and the Steamy Cave Spa (where you meet Damien and Elise).

I've programmed the flow of the rooms and what-not, but once Donald gets all four keys, I'll need a GUI so he can use them all to unlock the door back to his world.  Anyone willing to make the GUI for that?

Finally, the sounds and music.

For the Starting Room, just something generic and calm.

For Icy Vale, something wintery--maybe borderline Christmas-y.

For Crystal Cave, some jazz with mining effects.

For Misty Lake Shore, some mysterious-sounding New Age sounds good.

For Steamy Cave Spa, how about some romantic jazz.

Sound Effects... Walking (for Donald's walking), Snow Crunching (for characters walking in Icy Vale), Ice Skating sounds (for Christi's ice skating), Pick-Axe digging (for the Dwarf Miner mining), hammer and chisel (for Dwarf Miner making key out of crystal), gentle water splashing (for Damien and Elise in the spa), keys entering locks (for the GUI of keys in the door near the end), door opening (near the end), and some victory jingle for exiting and completing the game (yeah, I couldn't think of a good ending cutscene, since again, this is my first attempt at AGS).

So... anyone willing to help?

[Add on] Forgot to add in contact info for those interested in helping.  Send me a PM and I'll give you an email address to send stuff.  :)

Okay... hold  up, I'll move the content to that thread.  Then you can lock this.

Thanks to the mods for telling me how to recruit a team--didn't know how to at the time.

I got some concept art for characters.

Man, even with small games, like starting out, I may need friends to help make these.

I got rooms and items ready, but I'll need help with characters.

This is a small game since I'm getting used to the software.

It's entitled "Exploring AGS World".  The plot is a youngster named Donald who fell into a weird place and is trying to get out.

The Main Character, Donald:

Sprites Needed: Walking (front view, side view, back view), Speaking (various views), Picking up objects (side views only), Getting/Giving Objects (side views only).

The Ice Skater Christi--Donald meets her in one of the "rooms".  She's in side view in all animations in this game.

Sprites Needed: Standing Still, Talking, Going out to the ice/Returning from Ice, Skating on the Ice, Giving item to Donald.

Dwarf Miner--Donald meets him in one of the "rooms".  His animations are him in side view or back view.

Sprites Needed: Mining (Back View), Getting/Giving Item (Side View), Forging an Item (Back View, most likely kneeling), Talking (Side View).

Damien and Elise--A newlywed couple Donald meets (they're in a hot spring).

Sprites Needed: Damien Talking to Elise (as shown in concept art); Elise Talking to Damien (again, similar to shown in concept art); Damien Talking to Donald (similar to concept art, but looking at Donald); Elise Talking to Donald (she turns her head slightly to face Donald); Elise gives item to Donald.

For now, I just need these sprites--but later I'll ask for help in making a GUI that will be needed for the final part.  Thanks for any help given.  Since this is not a competition per se, I doubted that the Competitions and Activities would be an appropriate section, so if anyone could help me with sprites, that'd be nice.

I do have ImageShack.  I'll try those when I get done with coloring them.

I scanned in some concept art of the characters of my first adventure game.  They are not for a competition, as such, and I feel uncomfortable posting in critic's lounge because I didn't want to show for critique, but give a general idea.

So... how do I upload artwork (it is my own, of course) to the forums?  I plan to upload once I color it.  Again, it's concept art.  I'll probably visit the team making forum if I find that it's too much for me to do alone.

:o Boo! Hiss!

Welcome to the community. If you know anyone who works for Square-Enix, we have a guy here who is dying to meet you. Otherwise, we're looking forward to your first AGS game. :)

Ha ha.

Well, it may be a while, but I might make my first AGS soon--I can learn to multitask when it comes to game-making in general.  It'd be a short adventure game, since it'd be me getting used to the software.  You know, getting my feet wet, so to speak.

Oh, is densming around?  I'd like to talk to him sometime, since he made some good tutorials on YouTube.

[Add-on] Since I'm new to the AGS software, I'll do the simple adventures (talking, walking, giving/getting items, etc), but my major dream of AGS is to do adventure games that also include monster-fighting (a la Quest for Glory series).  But when that time comes, I'll look around for tutorials on the forum, if any.

Again, it'll be a while till I start doing AGS stuff... I'm doing some stuff with Game Maker for now.

But again, when I start AGS stuff, at least I'll know where to go to look for help when I need it.

Hi.  I'm Danny "D-Boy" Wheeler.  I'm a long time observer, first time participant.

Eh, my current project is outside AGS, but at least once I start making games with AGS, I know I have a resource to help me out.

So, how are all of you?
