A small paint-over:

-fixed the bridge's lineart (double pixels & stuff),
-changed the ground's saturation and brightness,
-added some texture to the ground,
-added some detail lke random bushes and a plant climbing the house wall.

Hope that helped.

Beautifull work man.

Here are some minor shadowing bugs:
-the outlet's shadow makes it look like it's sticking out of the wall, I suggest making it a little brighter and pushing it a pixel higher
-the shadow under the desk should be pushed outwards more if the main lightsource is coming from outside, or puhed inwards if the main lightsource is the ceiling lamp
-I think that pillow and bed's shadow should also be pushed down a little more

Also, great work on the previous BG, I especially liked the transparent raincoat.

Thanks.

His head is actually supposed to be facing the 'camera', and was supposed to have a weird shape, but I guess it's shaded wrong, so it doesn't look like that. I'll see what I can do.

I like third version the most, but it looks as second version was resized, and then some linearts were corrected.  That way you got a small sprite with 900 colors (if the program I'm using for colorcount isn't lying), the paintover uses 25 colors (28 with white, black and background color).

Here's a minor paintover to show you some of my ideas:

What I did:
-redrew the lineart,
-changed his posture a bit,
-filled the lineart with solid color,
-started shading and highlighting,
-lowered the colors' saturation a bit,
-added some pixels to the hair,
-added dithering (right char.)

The main thing I wanted to do is to lower the color count. You can see all of the colors I used in the pic.
Crosseyed problem remains, but that's easy to fix, just take Scumbuddy's advice.

Critics' Lounge / Weird doll guy v2
Mon 07/02/2005 12:44:10

This guy is supposed to be made from the same material teddybears are made, except the hook.

Steps:
-sketching
-scanning
-tracing
-coloring & shading
-dithering

Dont ask about his posture, he was supposed to be leaning on a chair.

Here's a quick (shi*ty) example:

It's used when working with small amount of colors. Seeing your new bg, you can forget about that.

I think HillBilly ment he actually couldn't see your pictures because the 2dadventure.com had few moments of downtime today.

Very nice midi with a calm feeling, but after some time gets repetitive, I would add some more chords to the main piano part since it repeats the most, like you added for the outro at 1:35.

But all in all a great work.

QuoteThe song is Transcending from the album One Hot Minute with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Thanks.

I did a minor paint-over of the bg you posted:

Changes:
-mostly three levels of shading for each object,
-added some gloss to the metal bars, probably overdid it,
-added some floor tiles
-dithered
-moved the cage closer to the camera (few pixels down)

Didn't have the time to repaint the sky & hills in the background, sorry.

Hope that helped you.

Part of the lyrics;

Water flowing and I will drink it.
I will drink for you.

something something,
something something

We'll never be understood,
no we'll never be understood.

And teh song is?

QuoteFunniest photoshop?

Highly doubtful.

My vote goes to "33 Reasons Why you shouldn't post your picture on the internet".

Here are some things you could do with the first picture:
-fix the lineart (double pixels & jaggy(sp?) lines)
-color the bg, and use darker shade of colors for outlines
-create shadows and highlights
-dither

I assume this is either a practice or a cutscene background since there isn't much space for a character to walk on.
If you want a frosty winter setting, forget this reference pic. Your edited blue version looks colder, but the trees should be leafless and there should be some snow covering it.

Just practice and be patient about it. You'll soon get the hang of pixelling.

Here's a quick crappy paintover, I only fixed his jawline a bit, forgot to remove the background color.

QuoteI think that what appears to be the frame of the glasses( the thingy that goes behind the ear) should be placed lower, not above the glasses.
I think that's a part of his cap, not of his glasses.

Well, nothing major to comment on yet. I suggest coloring/shading the bg completely, and then seeking c&c.

And if you need some help with that check out this tutorial:
Metallic objects

Good luck.

The biggest problem I see is that it's over crowded with different styles, for example the cloud outlines are pencil like, and there are no outlines on the rocks/mountains.
Also, you used a gradient (not a very subtle one) for the sky and moon coloring, but you used solid color for rock coloring. To me it looks like you've sketched your bg first (good job on that), opened it in photoshop (or gimp, or whatever) and used gradients/freehand tools for coloring. What did it took you to do that? 10 - 15 minutes?
Here's the way I suggest you to do things:
-draw a sketch
-scan and import into your paint program
-resize/crop it into some normal resolution
-trace the outlines
-color it (and be patient about it)

Actually, outlook does use Messenger, don't beileve me? Try to shut down the Messenger while outlook is open. You should get this message:
QuoteThere are other applications currently using features provided by the window messenger, you must close, blah, blah, blah...   ...may include Outlook, Outlook express, msn explorer and internet explorer.

Thanks for the title.

Cerulean: You're right, wish I noticed that sooner.

Big Brother: Here I've fixed that

Some (mostly shadowing) errors remain, but I just don't want to mess with it anymore. Again, thank you for all the help.

The End.
