He hasnt even finnished the coloring.. Stupot, keep coloring, Im sure it will turn out great. The shading looks good enough, depnding on how much details you want, if you want "realistic" you should have shading under the table where the direct lamplight dont touch, also you could add shadows from the railing(?) of the stairs. Also the shadow from the stairs should crawl up the wall/bookcase(?) some.
If youre keeping the black lines, the maybe you should concider make the floorplanks longer and have less of them, right now there are alot of black lines in there - just a suggestion.

Keep up the work!

its kinda hard, you're not consistent with the shading - A suggestion would be to go all the way and shade everything, or to drop it totaly..
You shaded the grass-edge and the trunk in the outside scene, there is no real pattern there so it would be hard to be consistent with that.. Maybe there is a pattern that I dont see?

I think the outside has more depth aswell, maybe adding some foreground objects to the interior.

I also think you should be consistent with the dark outline, in the outside I dont think the outline are dark enough on the well bricks, grass edge dirt and the machine by the well.

My suggestions.

Ah ok, I missunderstood what you meant. I thought the ceiling was slanting up. Looks good so far. Maybe adding a foreground? Just a suggestion.

The perspective was slightly off when I drew the perspective lines, but it wasnt obvious when just looking at it.. The only thing that confused me was the upper right side of it, by the third frame - is it a wall, does the ceiling get higher?

Ok, nothing special really. The purpose wasnt anything else then practice some color/light composition and not making a "cartoon" one, so I just made a quick scene in googlesketchup with basic shapes and loaded in to photoshop for coloring and details(if you can call it that :) ).

The door are rusty if its hard to spot :)
Sketchy:

Updated!
#333
Sorry, just got my computer back.. Ill be back tomorrow with information.
#334
Ok, I hear you all.

What I was thinking mostly was to see the room in other styles, I also thought it was a good chance to play around with camera-angles.. Myself would have done Sam and Max's office or the green tentacles room from Dott.

Anyway, I hope both will participitate anyway and that everyone have fun :)

In what way isnt it clear? I think I mentioned "You to make a background".

"NOTE: It doesnt mean you should copy the background straight of from the game. Make it in your style and potray it like you want. It would also be cool if, possible, you posted a screenshot from the orginal room."

Isnt this note clear? It should make it clear that I want you to create a new background based on an old background from an adventure-game.

Ill see if I can make it clearer.
What say you?
#336
Hmm, It looks like it was just a copy of the orginal and just edited... you should make your own background.. I thought it was clear in the orginal post, maybe I was wrong.
SO: Make your own background, dont copy or edit it.

extended to the 18th
Ok, so Ill change the topic.

Theme
"As I touched the white glowing portal it sucked me in, there was no chance for me   to do anything. I don't know how long I was flying around in there, but it sure felt like forever. Now I'm standing here, which sure doesn't look like the one I left, with no clues on how to get back."
Where did he travel to? Feel free to let out the imagination. It could be everything from an unknown planet with architecture we never seen to another time.

No color limit
Keep the size to around 320x240-800x600 (not that strict)

Voting
The voting starts at 00:00 GMT Thursday the 18th. It ends 24h later.

Voting categories (I cut and paste from loominous blitz, I hope you don't mind, otherwise just tell me and I remove it.)
--- CUT AND PASTE START --
Idea - The underlying idea to the background. Doesn't
necessarily have to coincide perfectly with the theme of the
week, just strike you as interesting/amusing/inspiring; a place
you'd really enjoy visiting within a game.

Atmosphere - How well the image manages to evoke a certain
feeling or mood.

Design - How well the elements in the image are designed,
such as landscapes, buildings, decorations, clouds, doorknobs,
etc.

Composition - How well the elements in the image work
together/are positioned in relation to each other.

Functionality - How well it would work when adding sprites, i
ncluding appropriate walking distances, a good angle for
character sprites, clever walkway solutions, easily understood
exits, etc.

Technique - How well the ideas are executed in form of
rendering.

Anyone is welcome to vote, and it would be great if all
participants could provide their own. You don't have to vote
in all categories, and if provide multiple names in a category,
then please be clear about which one is your pick.
--- CUT AND PASTE END --
