This better not lead to Iron Man 2 sucking. Iron Man was great.

I vote for Oran's Awakening, because I thought it easier to read and understand.

Hey vince, any sign of the Fantasy tales?  :)

For Sci-fi, my vote goes for Be Quiet

Mostly because I think 'Be quiet' is a little better written (In terms of pacing and composure, and in spelling and grammar) And because I felt 'The Mission' drew too heavily from stories like Star Wars and Firefly (just my opinion).

For Adventure Game Parody,  Shpritz 2000 gets my vote. I just think it's better written, and is much more funny.

Care to take a guess at when we might see the last stories, Vince?

Well I really dislike people ending middle in a sentence. I actually like people to end in a paragraph. The halfway sentences are really going to stick out in de whole story and that will be very messy in my opinion. :)

Further more I vote for consistency. If a story starts out serious it should remain so, if another story starts out funny, same story. ;)

This. The challenge in the Chain story is for everyone to come together to form one good, coherent story, rather than 10 short, almost unrelated paragraphs.

I'm going to keep this short- I'm not a fan of the google docs idea. Seems easier just using email, to me at least.

Now a little more in depth:

I think a word count of 200 is a little short, but still okay. I suggest a count of 250, with a 50 word allowance either way. I think this will give more freedom without being too short or long. Also, I think the idea of both teams starting with the same idea or opening paragraph and having both stories evolve into something else is great. The 'hub' concept sounds good, providing you aren't going to be AFK for long (You never know what might come up). As for the idea of having three stories,  That sounds good, because having to write three times will pretty much ensure everyone is occupied writing throughout the competition.

Sorry, the need for SOMETHING TO DO IN THE HOLIDAYS!

Games with abolutely terrible graphics really draw me out of the game and bug me as I think of prettier adventure games I could be playing

Conversly, games that sacrifice gameplay for the sake of better graphics irk me. I'ld rather suffer the sub-par looks and have fun with the game than have the best graphics and be bored with the game.

Oh man, the first time I did the MI2 'Wrench' puzzle when I was little, I never got it and my brother told me to use the monkey on the valve. But I never understood why i used the monkey until about a few months ago, re-playing the game, when my mouth fell open and I smacked myself in the face for not seeing 'Monkey-Wrench'.  ::)

Marianuchy, the bit you want to change IS NOT YOUR GAME. It is the editor. You can personalise your game with an Icon USING the editor, once you have finished making your game.

Oh man. Frequency Domain. That guy. >:(

I invited him to a party once and he got drunk, threw up on my CD player and started going on about how we all 'measure everything by time maaaan' like some damned hippie. What a jerk. My friends dog died the other day and we saw him when we were leaving the vets and he was all 'Duuuude, it's probably your fault for keeping him trapped- animals aren't pets, they're people too- you...you killed your own dog by trapping its soul in a prison'. My friend started crying and he wandered off, sat down on a park bench and passed out. What a jerk. I was on the phone to my mum and he stumbled up to me in the street, turned around, and started pissing in a fountain. The police came and told him to stop but he threw a beer can at them and yelled 'you can't stop my SPIRIT!', and took all his clothes off. What the hell is wrong with him!?

Actually this came up in my mind recently. In the First Episode of Tales Of Monkey Island you have to go through a maze- simple enough, I've no problem with mazes. But then, you have to go through the maze again, only slightly differently. The rest of TOMI I enjoyed thoroughly, but the use of the maze twice really irritated me. Seemed like an obvious way of making the game feel longer, tis all.

So I guess my point is, repeating the same puzzle without reason.

But don't get me wrong- this is a double-edged blade. For example, using the same puzzle twice can be done for effect- like the main character needing to do a puzzle at the beginning of the game and then needing to do a very similar puzzle near the end. It can be used to teach the player, as a hint for a future puzzle. What comes to mind is finding the ingredients for Largo LaGrande's voodoo doll at the beginning of MI2, and finding the ingredients for LeChuck's voodoo doll at the end.

I don't know what to say....

I still remember my brother buying CMI and saying it will be the last game...I was devastated. No more monkey island?

I remember EMI being released. I, unlike many, liked it. It was my least favourite MI, but I still liked it.

I waited for Monkey Island 5. Every few months since I got broadband, I've checked the Monkey Island Fansites, for news, and more recently, began to notice them closing down due to lack of interest. They were giving up hope. I was, too. Not long ago, I resigned myself to the fact that Monkey Island is over. Now this...wow.

I'll probably buy SMI SE out of sheer fanboy-ism, and I'll definitly buy Tales, because of how great the Adventure Gamers review made it out to be.

As far as the Special edition's art goes, Guybrush looks ridiculous. On the other hand, I think Elaine looks great (See here for a good shot of them both- http://www.adventuregamers.com/images/db/10134.jpg), and the backgrounds stay really true to the originals. Overall, I think it's a pretty good job.

Both games look promising, so fingers crossed.

NsMn, I'm pretty sure Yahtzee did the lighting by hand in all his games. Also, I know you're a beginner, but It's always better to experiment with your own style first before someone elses. You may realise you're more comfortable with something else other than this.
