General Discussion / Re: Edge or Chrome?

Seriously? Edge or Chrome? That's like asking whether or not you should choose between a Nintendo DS and a Gizmondo.
In other words, you're asking whether or not you should choose between something that known to be good, and something that's known to be bad. Rather than asking to choose between two things that are both known to be good.
So your actual question should be "Firefox or Chrome".
And as for my answer to that question. Chrome.

I still love ya m0ds!

Don't stop speakin' your mind!!

Be well, I think our paths will cross again...
Same here.
And just know that if you ever decide to return, you'll be met with open arms. At least by the majority of us. I never knew about any of that behind-the-scenes stuff.

Being told that the expensive brand is by far the better... not in all cases, and supermarkets grind my gears...

Don't buy that for 99p buy this one, it's better at £1.50 >:(

I'd rather have this other one at 75p.

But that one is smaller. You get more for less if you buy the 99p one. (laugh)

I don't think the lizard at the top has this whole "eating" thing figured out...
It looks more like the whole sequence was reversed just before the lizard at the top got his tongue to the bowl.

I have a question. ???
Why do so many people want to use an engine specifically designed for adventure games, to make role playing games?
Are adventure games and role playing games that similar, and I just never noticed?

I'm not complaining or anything. I've just noticed a lot of people coming to AGS to make RPGs, and I've always wondered why.

I remember this one compression software that had a ridiculous amount of compression ratio. Usually more than halfing the file size.

Compression rate also largely depends on the file contents. Files with lots of repeating data patterns are compressed most.
For example, for internal reasons AGS savegames contain a big chunk of data per room which is often unused and remains in default state. As number of visited rooms grow saves become really large but very small when compressed. I recall compressing 2+ GB of "The Cat Lady" saves into something like 10 MB regular zip archive.
Alright, I want you to imagine for a moment you see two downloads for a game. One is 2gb, the other is 800mb. The 2gb download is in a WinRar, that when uncompressed is probably just over 3.5gb. The 800mb one has a bunch of other files including a .bat file. Naturally you think the 800mb one is fake. But it isn't. It's the full 3.5gb game, compressed with an incredible compression program that claims it's still in its alpha stage.
THAT is what I'm talking about. (nod)

A quick look has found me something called "Maximum Compression", I'm not sure if that's the program I'm thinking about. But it looks like it could be. I'd honestly have to download it and try it out to be sure.

I support the use of public domain assets of all kinds.
Do you mean The AGS Trove?
I just wanted to point that out, because it almost seems as though everyone forgot about it as soon as it started. And I still think it's a great idea.

I remember this one compression software that had a ridiculous amount of compression ratio. Usually more than halfing the file size. It was also all self-contained. You would double click on a .bat file I think, which would then start the self-extraction process.
I could probably find the name of it if I looked for it. Not that I'm recommending it. It's just that I'm still impressed by how compressed it could get things.
And Ponch's comment reminded me of it.

Surely this was done on purpose.

That might be an outdated version of template. Did it come with the installation? (I could swear I we had this updated, but may be mistaken)
I'm 90% certain that this got fixed in an update too. Could it have been accidentally reversed?
It should be easy to check though.

It looks as though only half of his animation is done.
His right front comes towards us while his left foot moves away from us, then it jumps back to the start of that animation and repeats. It almost makes him look like he has a limp.

I remember one scene that actually creeped me out, in 5 Days a Stranger.
I really need to play the Trilby games one of these days.
I downloaded them, but I never made the time to play them.

Come on, guys, get on with it! If you like, get into the game as a translator for all the fans in your Country!
Just get in touch with the author (ConeRX from the Maniac Mansion Mania forum) or even with the Monkey Island World Forum, listed among the credits in the presentation topic from Blackmonkey!
I know very little German, and I know nothing about Italian. So I probably can't do a good translation. But if anyone wants any English proof reading.

None the less, glad to hear there's at least some effort gone to the translations of these games.
#1137
Any chance of this ever being translated to English as well? :)

Yes, that's correct! The point is pretty much a physical Hardcopy, in a DVD package, or a box. However the
idea was that many small Indie Game Makers, together creating a bigger publisher. They acts as many things,
as, creating packages (like Playstation boxes), or classic 90's game boxes, they burning DVDS, selling, and
owning their own advertising company, with make the advertising much cheaper in some cases. like publishing
big posters of the game.

The point is to make Indie Games more popular to people who doesn't heard of the titles. Because of the BIG
BOYS steal's the scene. If this collective Indie Game Publisher, get monthly auto money transaction from all
whish to help the company, so they maybe could have enough money, to other, more expensive advertisings.
That... actually sounds like a viable business plan.
There's already a company doing something similar (I can't remember their name from the top of my head, but you probably know what I'm talking about), but they only seem to do popular indie games, and for a limited amount of time. This sounds like it could work.
The hardest part will be about keeping everything cheap while still maintaining a profit. But I think you could do it.

I saw in the news that one of the bigger causes of suicides are tied to sexuality: trans or homosex people that not are well accepted by the society.

Yup, suicide is pretty gay.

I know I shouldn't laugh at this, but I can't help it. (laugh)
