This is assuming I remember to add Blackwell Deception to the AGS database.  I've forgotten to do that with the last few games I released. :x

We're good to go with testers for now.  We're releasing the demo (and officially announcing the thing) in about two hours.

Starting this LP right before I started crunching on my next project was probably a bad idea.  I'll get to the rest soonish!

Hullo!  Sorry for the bump.

We're going to be announcing this on Wednesday and we're going to release a demo at the same time.  If anyone would like to take an early crack at it, drop me a PM.

Hah.  Well, Rebecca did have an interesting idea during our last recording session.

I get what you mean, though.  It's not so much that it's more popular (I mean, really, since when are old-school pixel adventure games popular anyway?), but it's a writing style that I'm more comfortable with.  I could make a game more violent, I suppose, but it would just be gratuitous and there wouldn't be any real thought or technique behind it.  My talents just don't lie in that area. :)

Unlike you, Grim.  Your stuff scares the crap out of me.

All that said, this rant isn't supposed to be an excuse for poorly designed (adventure) games (dead ends, illogical trial and error puzzles, no hints, poor story...), especially commerical ones. Those are inexcusable.

That was kind of Richard's point.  That's what mainstream commercial adventure games have become.  The comments in the article only prove the point.  There are lots of examples of quality high-budget adventure games, but none of them are under ten years old.

Darn it.  Now that theme song is stuck in my head again.  IT WILL NEVER LEAVE.

I especially like the two characters flanking Alexander in the article's teaser image.

Good news!

Is the the ghost lady voiced by The Ivy?

Nope.  She's voice by Sarah Elmaleh, who also voiced the computer in Gemini Rue.

Work is progressing!  The game is 100% asset complete and we're testing it ad nasuem.  I keep getting about 4-5 pages of bugs every time I test, but the bugs get progressively more and more nitpicky.  We're nicely ahead of schedule so I don't foresee this game getting delayed.

In the meantime, here are some preview audio clips for you:

Rosa talks to a detective named Durkin, played by our Grundislav.

Joey chats up a lady ghost in a nightclub.

Rosa learns a bit about her past from an unusual man

This one is probably the most philosophical of the bunch.  Hopefully I don't get too rambly. :)

Gemini Rue has been fully translated into German!  And by "fully," that includes the voiceover as well.  You can find it in German retail stores or nab it off Amazon Germany.

Jeeze, R4L.  You shouldn't repress your emotions like that!

I've been an AGSer for over ten years now.  I remember Squalman.  I remember RPGCreator.  I even remember AndyPenis.

You've got them all beat, Icey.  I mean it.  You seriously blow my mind.

They're still selling it?  I thought they moved all their products over to Big Fish awhile ago.
#1035
Where'd you buy it from this time, AJA?  Steam or somewhere else?

Anyway, episode six is up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKvHhACL2VI

There's a moment in the game that all the critics hated.  Here, I apologize for it and make an attempt to defend it.

Would you mind if I stole your idea? I might want to do a similiar video of my first game at some point.  ;)

It's hardly an original idea, so go right ahead. :)

I'm glad you all enjoyed it!  I'll probably be uploading them daily.  Here's part two:
