Hm.  Visiting you in Wales could be an option, and the offer of a king sized bed might seal the deal.  I'll bring it up with her. :)  If we come, it'll be for the final weekend there.

Hey.  I'm not going to Brittens but I'm going to be in the UK visiting the fiancee from July 24th to Aug 7.  Is a trip to London planned at any point?  We could probably plan a day trip to London on Sunday or something.

It's back!

Took ages to clear this site of malware, and took even longer for Google to agree and stop listing it as a dangerous site!  Go ahead and go there (www.davelgil.com).  I know you've been missing it.

Congrats on finishing this!  I know it's been a long ride. :)

Just to warn you, the visa requirements for immigrating to the US from the UK are S-T-R-I-C-T!  Make sure it's even possible for you to move to the US before you stress out over where to live. :)

She's british.  She's a beer drinker. :)

I all ready have a cousin named Ron.  But it's worth thinking about. heh.

90% of the games in production might have nice art, but also remember that barely 25% of them ever get finished. :)

I think we're missing the important question here.

If this happens again, what do we call it?

Pulling a Limbo?  Majesticizing?

I'm up for suggestions.

To be fair, JA and AG review from the point of view of an adventure gamer.  PC Gamer and the like cater to a more console-centric audience.

Anyway, I find the team's behavior pretty darn shameful.  I feel bad for the publisher, who will get a lot of undeserved flak over this.  I admired what they did with Ghost in the Sheet.  A publisher that allows developers to keep the rights to their games is rare.

Thanks everyone!  I also remembered that when I said "visited London later" it really meant "left Brittens early to meet her."  So for those of you at Brittens 07 who wondered why I left early, that was why. :)

General Discussion / Diving into domesticity
Mon 16/06/2008 20:21:00
Hi everyone.  I wanted to share a quick bit o' personal news.  I don't often chat about personal stuff on here but I'd thought this was important enough to share.

But first, a quick bit o' history.  Some of you know that in March of 07, while at the Games Developer Congerence in San Francisco, I met an English gal named Janet.  We kept in touch, and when I visited London a bit later we arranged to meet up again.  Thus was the start of an romance that crossed the ocean and sustained itself on lots of plane tickets, air miles, text messages  and skype webcam chats.  No way I was going to give up a girl who is 10x nerdier than I am.

To make a long story short, during her recent visit here we got engaged!  She's agreed to leave her UK homeland behind and shack up here in NYC with me.  We haven't decided entirely how we're doing the wedding thing yet, since there is a ton of red tape involved in just getting the fiancee visa worked out.  Most likely we'll have a small ceremony for just the family, and then throw a big ole celebration party on each continent once everything is sorted.  You britfolk are invited, whenever that might be!

Some of you have actually met Janet or listened to me talk about her ad nasuem.  Either way, here is a picture of us boozing it up at GDC last March.

Anyway, that's it really.  Just wanted to share!

Hey Bitby.  No problem.  :)  No reaction from admin on the RON forum yet but we'll see.

Way to bring this thread up from the ashes. :)  Glad you liked the game!

Bitby, congratulations on making the first worthy RON game since 2005!  It's been a long time since I enjoyed RON and its wacky denizens, so you are to be applauded and thanked.  The characters stay true to form, the dialog is great, and the puzzles are nice and clever.    It was funny and charming, and the fact that it wasn't allowed on the RON site is a crime against everything RON stands for.

Sure, it's got nudity.  But the RON website allows you to set a warning flag for adult content and the game itself allows the nudity to be turned off, so I don't see the problem.  Heck, any argument against adult content was destroyed in 2001 when "Davy Jones C'est Mort" was allowed on the site.  if a scene of Davy Jones getting raped by a cow was allowed, then there's no reason why this shouldn't be.

Anyway, great job Bitby!  I had a great time playing it.

God this man is like a train wreck.  It's awful but I can't look away.  Every time he does something I am fascinated, and  his posts are no exception.  If he had any clue what was really happening in the adventure game world he'd know that the Four Fat Chicks have always supported adventure games and are very well known in the scene.  Throwing such bile and bitterness their way is like shooting himself in the foot.

Still, with such a horrible attitude i wonder why he even bothered in the first place.  A publicity stunt?  Perhaps.  If so, it worked.  Heck, we're talking about him now.  Maybe I should adopt the same marketing strategy.  Who's up for WadjetCon?

Wow.  After nearly a year of no updates you are certainly making up for lost time! :)

Thanks, Chris!

NWAB is Christopher Walken, actually.  I should have had my camera.

AGS Games in Production / Re: The Shiver

Heh.  Seems every year I invent a joke game that people actually want to play!

Anyway, yes.  This was an April Fool's gag.  Thanks for those who went along with it, and apologies to those who fell for it. :)

AGA, you might as well mark Janet and me  down as a "no."  If we end up coming, it'll only be for a short visit and we'll grab a hotel nearby.
