LGM, you might want to check around the net a bit.Ã,  Last year, I found a great graphics card online for $70.Ã,  I forget the site, alas.

Actually it was inspired by the "Alvin Maker" series by Orson Scott Card.

Excellent, Mills.  That really brought me back.  The songs were perfectly chosen.

I was stuck in the same place.

As poser games go, this is very well done.  The backgrounds could use a little more detail, and Supergirl seems a bit eager to commit acts of violence, but I enjoyed it muchly.  I like how you incorporate different dialogs after you repeat certain actions.

One thing that bothered me though...

Spoiler

The ending.  The fake supergirl says "It all began a few months ago..." and then it ENDS.  I was hoping for a nice tidy explaination, but oh well.

Exceedingly fun stuff.  That's all I can say. :-)  It took me awhile to discover that you could walk to the various stores in the food court, but after that I enjoyed it immensely.

I think nobody used the Larry Vales emoticon, so, why including AGS characters that are less unknown? As a joke it's been ok, but... enough! :)

What you talking about?  :=

The rule is that you can't kill off any established characters.Ã,  However, you are quite free to introduce a character and kill them off within the same game.Ã,

Why would we get mad?  There are around 60+ RON games available.  If we were going to get mad, it would have happened long ago.

Hi all,

I know that AGS is very sluggish when it comes to hi-res.Ã,  I know folks complained that "Barn Runner", which was in hi-res, became almost impossible to play on some computers merely because the snow/rain plug-in was enabled.Ã,  The author upped the speed and everything was fine on its second release, but it got me thinking.Ã,  I decided to pool the community and see if we could gather some tips on optimizing speed in hi-res.Ã,  Would using palletes for sprites make any difference?Ã,  I know it decreases the file size, but does that affect the speed?  Thanks!

Ooh sweet.  I hadn't seen that.  Thanks much, Bart.  I'll try and have that up on the website soon.

Just checked this out.  Hard to believe I completely missed this game when it was first posted.  Excellent graphics and fun to play (even though I'm stuck).  Like the others, I do wish there was more animation to back up the beautiful graphics, but for a first effort it's amazing.  I'm very much looking forward to what else you come up with.

For the portal, the circle is already drawn for you.  Check the basement floor.

You don't need to light the candle.

Hello!

Dave here looking for a few artists to work on a project that I've been designing for the past year.  I've finally gotten the design doc ready to a point where I'd like to discuss it with artists.  I am no artist myself (as is obvious to anyone who has played some of my games), and I'd like to give the project the level of detail that I think it deserves.

I currently have an excellent sprite/animator artist on board. He is a dynamo but I figured I'd better get other folks on board before he burns himself out.  In addition to him, I am looking for someone to design close-up talking animations for the characters, and a few background artists.

The game will be in (640 x 480 resolution, roughly in the style of "I have no mouth and must scream."  (see http://www.adventure-archiv.de/i/nomouthscreenshots.htm for examples).

This will be a paid position.  I am aiming for this game to go commercial, and I believe in paying for quality work.  I'm aiming to pay around $500 along with a bonus or commission if the game sells well. I know this isn't much. I wish I could pay more, and if I am able to I certainly will.  At the very least, this game will enable a serious artist to create a diverse amount of artwork to use in a portfolio. Also, it'll be fun. If, after reading that, you are still interested - GREAT.

Please let me know if you are still interested. If so, we'll discuss it further. You can contact me at dave@davelgil.com.  Please supply an art sample or two.

Thanks!

I vaguely remember my parents buying one of the first VCRs back in the early 70s or early 80s (or whenever they were invented).  It gathered dust in our basement until I went away to college and took it with me.  It was AWESOME.  It was big, ugly and clunky with huge beige buttons that made loud clunks when you pushed them.  A great conversation piece too, as people would walk into my dorm room and go "What the heck is THAT?"  Good times.
