Does it count if the recycled pic from the RON fanart gallery was recycled from a previous photoshop friday? :)

Well, to make this adventure-centric:

Hi Snarky,

Thanks for the comments. I definitely agree with the points that you raise about the story.  I wanted to give their "backstory" a more central role in the plot, but since I only had a few days to plot out the game I was forced to keep it simple.  In the end, we figured the strong "oil-and-water" character dynamics would be enough to pull the game through.  Hints about their past are given in various conversations, but they don't take center stage.  At some point, we will probably do a sequel where the twins' relationship and history is explored a bit further.  That has yet to be seen.

Regarding the game update.  I've fixed a number of bugs, and added something very special for the end credits sequence.  However, my home computer is being slow and stupid lately.  Getting it to do anything productive takes forever.  I've done all the things you are supposed to do to fix it, but nothing works.  I've backed up all my important stuff, and plan on re-installing windows soon.  Hopefully  I'll get a new version uploaded by the end of the week.

Scumm, where's the video of our live GTD?  The world needs to see it!  The human race hangs in the balance!

It varies.  I'm a 9-5 workday guy, and I usually have the time in the evenings to futz with AGS.  Many other factors affect how much time I am willing to spend on games, though.  Things like the weather, my social schedule, family obligations, whether-or-not I'm dating someone at the moment or even just plain lack of interest can put a crimp in game making.

I still think that the “best” type of verb interface was the parser used in the 80s Infocom games.  If you came across a rose in a modern point-n-click game, all you can do is click the USE icon on it.  You don't know what the result is going to be.  Your avatar might pick up the rose, touch the rose, take a petal off the rose, or even crush the rose to death.  The text games were more versatile.  If you wanted to pick up a rose, you'd type “GET ROSE.”  If you wanted to smell a rose, you'd type SMELL ROSE.  There were some downsides to this kind of interface, as well, if only because since the player can do anything, they WILL do anything. It's impossible to program every conveivable response to every action attempted within the game.  It's been awhile since I wrote text adventures, but I remember creating new verbs to be very simple.  Larry 7 merged the two interfaces pretty well, although it was kind of awkward.

New York screws me!
I recently got in the mail a bill from the state of NY. Its a fine for failure to pay a toll. the toll was like 6 bucks and a fine of 30 dollars on top of that.

I belive I can recall the time when it may have happened. m0ds and I were in my car and we came to one toll, and it appeared broken, or free, so after a line of cars behind me started honking, I gave in and drove off.

NY city one, Homer zero...

I just got the same letter, Scummy.  I remember that toll booth exactly, as I was staring at the darn thing for a few minutes trying to find a slot to put in my money.  I also thought it was broken, and I drove on through.  Odd that they sent us that letter nearly four months after the fact.  I'm sure that toll booth is now repaired and looks all nice and sparkly and we can't contest it.   Oh well.

Hi jomama,

Yes the opening credits display over that screen.  I believe that they are timed to the music, so you might have trouble if the sound is disabled.

Hi all,

I could use a second pair of eyes to tighten up some areas of my game.  I don't need story help, but I could use some puzzle help.  I want to keep the game story-driven without losing interactivity.  Currently, there are areas in the game where you simply go from set piece to the next without any real puzzles to solve.  With that in mind, frop me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks,

-Dave

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I can't seem to save a game. when I open the save game screen andÃ,  go to save it doesn't save. I keep having to start from beginning. Also I noticed it says its a 10mb file, but when I download, it says I've downloaded a 9.68mb file. Am I missing something?

9.68 is correct.  I just guestimated when I entered in the filesize.

That's odd about saving though.  Could you describe, in detail, the actions you take when you try to save?

Since Yoke opened the floodgates, I'll add my own two cents. I can safely say that creating this game was one of the most inspiring experiences of my recent life.Ã,  The support, enthusiasm, and all-around energy of the team caught me my surprise from the beginning.Ã,  What was even more surprising was that this energy level was maintained throughout the full six weeks (including when I was away at Mittens).

Like Yoke, I have many pleasant memories of the final 24 hours before the deadline.Ã,  I think we accomplished more in that one stretch then we did in the whole five months it took to make the game.Ã,  And I couldn't have done it without Yoke, BT and Dart who were, as Yoke put so well, virtually holding my hand throughout the entire period.Ã,  They spoiled me.Ã,  They were so quick and eager to work hard you would have thought I was holding them at gunpoint.Ã,  I eventually had to stop telling them how amazing they all were, because I ran out of words to express it.Ã,  As the hour loomed near, it became less about winning and more about just going the distance.Ã,  It was the most surreal thing EVER.Ã,  It ranks somewhere up with cramming 9 AGSers in my apartment during Mittens.

Thank you, everyone, for the great feedback.Ã,  It makes it all worthwhile.Ã,  In case anyone is interested, a behind-the-scenes irc transcript of the last hour before the deadline is here: http://www.davelgil.com/ags/toaklog.txtÃ,  It's slightly edited to remove spoilers and the bits that make no sense, but it's a nice look at what we went through.Ã,  Here's a snippet:

<YOke> SetObjectTransparency doesn't work?
<DaveGilbert> nope. :(
<Darty> Gwah. :/
<YOke> bah
<YOke> later
<Darty> You're leaving, Yokey? -_-
<DaveGilbert> Yoke wait!
<YOke> no... we'll fix the bug later

Hello, I love this game, but I am stuck!
Spoiler
Once I get rid of the crocodile (either with Tim's acid gun or Tiffany's diplomacy) I cannot open the big steel door. Tim and Tiffany say it is too heavy, but I cannot think of anything that would make it move...

Thank you!

Piotr!

Welcome to AGS. :)

Here's the scoop:
Spoiler

Once you get rid of the croc, you can open the door to the left.  Then you can bring the other twin inside.  Have them talk to each other.

Did you read the journal on Bovino's desk upstairs?  After you read it you'll know what page to turn to in the spell book.

Yes, sorry about this.  The database or somesuch got corrupted.  Our web guru sorted it out.

Excellent, Daniel.  Haven't played much of it, but the graphics are very nice.  I like the animated backgrounds.

I went ahead and mirrored you.  I tried zipping it, but the result was only about 300kb smaller so I didn't feel it was worth it.  The file is here:

The second thing is the dead end(?)
Spoiler
I haven't tried, but what if I hadn't sent Tif down to the croc but Tim without the acid in his inv? Sorry if I'm wrong but I'm tired now and too lazy to try.

Funny, you're not the first person to ask that without trying. :)Ã,  No, it's impossible to get stuck that way.Ã,  I made sure of it.

I, too, had problems with the character switching. Spoiler below, select the area to read the text
Spoiler

After visiting the bedroom with Tif and switching to Tim, he appeared in the middle of the back wall and was very small. (I think because I left him in front of the mansion.)
After that, everytime the two kids were in different rooms and I switched, the room didn't change but instead the other character appeared at the bottom center of the current room.

Could you PM me the the actions you performed to make that happen?Ã,  Ã, That occured during beta testing and I thought we had it fixed.Ã,  Ã,

Hi! Great game!!!!
I'm stuck, though...
I am at the farm trying to get the wax, I have the bees removed from the beehive, busy on the flower and the brother can't get or use the beehive. He just moves to the same point every time, away from the beehive and does nothing. Did anyone encounter the same problem? Is it a bug? Do I need to download it again?

Hi Mini,

Spoiler

One twin moves the bees away into the other room, while the other twin loots the hive.
