Speaking of dress up, I was in the Coney Island "Mermaid Parade" last Saturday.  It's supposed to be a "summer-themed" event, but it was pouring down rain and absolutely freezing. Ours was a swing dancing float, and we all dressed up in vintage shirts and/or bathing suits.  Here are two shots of me and my partner Laura boogying in the rain:

There are some more pics of me in the parade at http://www.davelgil.com/mermaid/mermaid.htm, if anyone is interested seeing more pics of my butt than can possibly be healthy.

Hi all,

I'm going to be adopting a Boston Terrier soon and am blanking on what to call the little guy, so I figured I'd turn to you guys for advice.  So... any suggestions?

Someone just sent me this pic of myself being an unrepentant glutton:

Never did manage to finish that sundae...

Heya,

Just downloaded it and played for a bit.  I like what I see so far - great cartoony graphics and animation.  The only problem I have is that there's too much self referencial humor.  I.e., lots of "Hey look!  I'm in an adventure game! Yuk Yuk" types of jokes.  But the game is certainly more entertaining than most so I'll definitely be playing it more.

Personally, my favorite bit was Davy's expression at the very end.  I burst into hysterical giggles every time I see it.

More, Eggie!  We want mooorrreeee!1!!

Ahhh... 3D memories.  This takes me back to 1998 when I graduated from college and wasn't working yet, so I spent an unhealthy about of time futzing with Poser and Bryce 3D.

"Starving Actor"

"Flying Saucers"

"Starbug"  from Red Dwarf, of course.  The lighting sucks.

"View"

"Eye of teh Golden Pyramid"

"Moonlit Watertower"  The lighting here also sucks

"Abstract Duck."  I honestly thought it was cool at the time.

And some more that are even more rubbish.

These are about five years old, now.  My Bryce knowledge is now practically forgotten, and is woefully out of date anyway.  But 3D is fun.  I should try futzing with 3D Max sometime

Last Monday,  I asked Eggie to do a simple picture based on the "James Bond" poll.  By Saturday he'd completed a fully voiced, fully animated flash cartoon.

I was impressed.

I'd like to see more RON flash movies.  I'd make one myself if I had the time. Or could draw.  Or had a microphone.   Or if I could remember how to program in flash.

Unordinary names don't always make them memorable.  I couldn't tell you the name of the character in "Out of Order," even though he had a very unordinary name.  Why?  Because his name was hardly mentioned during the game.  That's the trick.  It's all in the dialog.  The characters need to constantly talk and refer to each other by name.

Here's how I named one of my characters.  When I was in college, I wrote a horrible mystery play starring a detective named Peter Griffon.   Five years later I wanted to write a mystery AGS game with the same detective, but that "Family Guy" show selflishly nabbed my character's name.  I renamed him Max Griffon, and soon shortened it to Max Griff because that sounded cooler.

let people hate bush and some amount of americans and a bit of the american way... bush is a major fuckup, and the fact that the american people voted him to precident makes me laugh. a lot of americans must be dead in their heads..

Holy crow.

Dude, I just got used to all the nifty features that debued in the LAST version, and now you've got more?

You're an animal, man!  An animal!

Never change!

Hm, very creepy and atmospheric.  I never saw "Donnie Darko," despite Eric putting my face on his body in a recent Photoshop Phriday.  You've got me curious now.  I'll probably be checking it out soon.

Hey Aussie,

That was lots of fun!  Some very nice graphics, dialog, puzzles and site gags.  I never played "Nick it and Run," but I think I will be downloading it soon.

Nice job, man.

Hm, my first entry was kind of lame.  Here's a better one:

I'm more curious about the dip around 18.  What is it about that age that makes kids go off adventure game making?
#2578
Meh.  Someone was bound to make this joke sooner or later:

#2579
Wow!  Excellent work, Archangel!  It looks real deep and atmospheric.  Your music and graphics capture the mood perfectly.

Looking forward to this one.

Holy crow.

That was great.

Gorgeous graphics, nice voiceovers/dialog, and two clever puzzles.  I like the intro bit with the train.  Very nice.  Also, that luggage carousel... wow.  That looks mighty sweet.

Damn.  You're making my game-in-progress look bad.   :P

Looking forward to this one.
