Yay!  Everyone sing:

We love you Cee Jay
Oh yes we do-oo
We love you Cee-ee jay
And we'll be true-oo
When you don't code for us
We're blue!
Oh Cee-ee jay we love you!

Oh yes we do!

This happens only in RC1 not in beta4
Lets say you have a object that uses the pink(or any other)  color as it's transparent color
If you use transparency in this object , the transparency works but you can see the the pink area around the object (the pink area uses the transparency ammount of the object too).

I was just in the midst of typing this when I noticed it was already mentioned already.  :)  It happens when you use transparent characters, too.

Here's an example:

I got the same thing for fullyramblomatic.com after I wrote that article for it.  I guess somebody thinks I'm Yahtzee?

I did a demo of a game that uses a mix of 3D characters and photorealistic graphics.  You can find it at http://maxgriff.8m.com - I sort of gave up on the project for now, but you can still download the demo.

Progress is... progessing.  I did a healthy chunk of the first section over the weekend.  Thought y'all might get a kick out of this small screenshot.

Hot damn.  4 gigs.  My first computer out of college was 4 gigs and I thought that was massive.  Now there are tiny iPods that hold 4 gigs.

Sigh.  I feel old.

Hi,

It's hard to judge what the character will look like against your background.  Sometimes they are too big and other times they are too small.

Are you using photoshop or a image program that uses layers?  When creating your character, make sure you have one of your backgrounds on another layer.  That way, you will have a frame of reference and your characters will always remain proportional to your backgrounds.

Thanks for the help, folks.  He's a doctor in a mental hospital ward, so he's not exactly a medical doctor.  I'll work on it some more.

Cheers,

Critics' Lounge / character: old doctor type

I'd appreciate any comments on this.  I can't seem to get the doctor's coat right.  He's supposed to be a serious old doctor.  The way I have him now, he looks like a cult member.

Hahahahaha grundy!

Lots of RON-related entries this week.  I'm going to add all of them to the RON art section when this week is over.  :)  (assuming that's okay with the creators)

If anyone else did a RON-related photoshop phriday and would like to see it on the site, send them my way.

Here's a genre mixup in reverse...

#2613
Heh.  Someday I need to gather all the RON photoshop phridays and put them on the web site.

Thanks netmonkey.  I'm actually using photoshop, but I imagine the technique is much the same.

Hi all,

I have a funky kind of inventory GUI.  A notebook with notes that you can use as inventory items a-la "Discworld Noir."  The problem is, I can't get the notes to line up properly.  Is there a way to manually place the inventory items within a custom inventory GUI?

Thanks!

Heh.  This is fun.  Here's my entry:

How are you making your NPCs move?  The best way is to set an idle animation for them.  I forget the code offhand, but looking up "idle" in the help file should tell you all about it.

"Donuts.  Is there anything they can't do?"

or

"Shut up brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-tip!"

got a lot of funny looks from people as i stood there reading a variety of kids books.

Ha.  That's nothing.  Imagine sitting at a bookstore table  leafing through magazines like Seventeen and Tiger Beat and trying to retain your self-respect.  Since I'm in the junior gals apparal industry, I had to research what's going on with the kids today.
