Congratulations on getting this done, Iceman.  It's clear you put a lot of work into it.  I couldn't pass up on ordering the cd-rom version as I enjoyed the first game so much and hell if you don't deserve some change for it.

Edit:  Would be nice if the cd version had the original game on it as well, for new players and for archiving purposes. ;)

Thought about it, but since the original has a bunch of copyrighted stuff on it (music and suchlike) we figured we'd play it safe.

Now that the forums are back online we can announce this here!

Plenty of room! Here's the invite for anybody who wants to go:

Thanks Blueskirt! I wrote a bit about this subject on my blog a few months ago, but in a nutshell I took a lot of the Convergence feedback to heart.  With Deception I spent a lot more time getting user feedback in order to make the game as involving as possible, and I've slowly given Joey more things to do with each game. :)

"Thinking with Joey" sounds like an awesome gameshow. Fanart, anyone?

Why didn't you tell Logan about your relation to Ron Gilbert, Dave? ;)

He... didn't ask!
#926
Well, if you saw this interview with Logan Cunningham, the cat's officially out of the bag. Wadjet Eye is publishing Resonance.

My wife Janet has been programming it full time for the last eight months or so, and we just started VO recording last week. It's looking frigging AMAZING, and it's a real honor to be involved. We're aiming for a May release, although we don't want to commit ourselves until we know for 100% sure.

That is all!

I snuck something like this into a defunct project of mine. What I did was create a dummy version of the character's head (which contains the talk animation) and snap it to the body using the "repeat_execute_always" function which continually updates the x/y position of the head relative to the body. Then you set the character walking using a nonblocking walk function, and then have the character talk. Worked perfectly.

Swank! Thanks.

Finally got around to downloading this... but your page appears to be down. :(

Is the blurry object scaled up or down in any way?  That can sometimes lead to a bit of blurriness in testing mode.
#931
Could you show a screenshot?  I've certainly animated two objects at the same time using the same view, so I don't think that's causing the problem.

Woo!  Chris approached me with the game last summer and I nabbed it. It's looking really sweet.  If you liked the original game, you'll really like this one.

General Discussion / Re: Sherlock is Over

Watched Baskerville episode yesterday... it sucked. Whole episode consisted basically someone being scared, someone walking somewhere and sherlock acting totally crazy.
Also, secret military base had less security than a square meter of Victoria station.

Honestly, this is no worse than what happened in the original Holmes books. There were some stories where

an obscure plant or drug from some faraway land was basically the reason for EVERYTHING that happened, including hallucinations and very bizarre deaths

So using that as a benchmark, the new BBC Sherlock is still very faithful!

Well actually, there has been a seperate discussion in this topic:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=45149.40
Sorry for the inconvenience but could you please read it (the last two pages or so) as well?
Here we discussed the fact we rather have a group of people 'in charge' rather then just the one. There is no need to rush this, in fact it must be taken care of in a precise way or else we just get side tracked in loads of discussion as seen before. I rather ask Peder to set up a forum somewhere then having a subforum on WEG if we must, but as m0ds pointed out, he's waiting for CJ to respond and I think that would be a nice thing to do since it is his baby. :P

Hm.  I didn't know that other thread even existed!  I went and read it.  And maybe I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm not quite sure I understand.  My understanding was that nobody was going to be in charge per se, but someone was needed to keep an eye on things and make sure progress was continually being made.  Is that no longer needed?  And will someone be in charge of merging any changes into the official branch?  Or is that handled by everybody?  Right now there are a bunch of AGS branches with different features and upgrades.  It would be nice to have a new "official" version that merges all these changes into one.

Anyway, I guess this is something we can discuss once we have a subforum and some volunteers!  Like I said, I'm not really the guy to handle anything technical, but if you need help on the management end then just ask!

And Peder: A few posts ago someone asked if I could "start right away" which made me think there was some level of urgency.  If that's not the case, then I have no problem waiting.

So, it's been a week.  Should we just jump right in?  Since nobody here has the ability to create a subforum, I can set up a subforum on the WEG site for now.  We had some great momentum going and I would hate to lose it.

Congratulations! But i've a question on Plimus site. They say that is available an "extended download warranty" for 1, 2, 3 years or not at all. So if I don't buy the warranty i'll not able to download multiple times the file? (i.e. format the hard-drive and lost the file, and so on). I not mad with you, anyway, i'm just disturbed with plimus site :)

I'll keep my opinion of Plimus to myself, but here's how it works.  When you buy the game, you have three days to download it.  If you don't download it during that time (or want to redownload it later on), your download will have expired and you have to ask AnasAbdin to reactivate it for you.  But if you get that "extended download warranty," your download won't expire and you won't have to bug AnasAbdin.
#938
Neat!  I'll have to check this out.  Even if you are using Plimus as a store provider. :)
