I'm planning on having it be the standard Mittens length, one week, most likely from Wednesday to Wednesday.  This means July 22-29, 2009.  Are these dates good for those interested in attending?

Well, yes, but I'm wondering why it's not simply a weekend-to-weekend affair? Take five days off from work, get a nine-day holiday :)
When I'm going, I'll  extend to extend my stay a bit, like the Americans (and I believe also the Canadians) did with their stay in Paris with last Mittens. Just browse around Florida a bit, try not to run into/over skunk apes.
I should add that those (like most) date are fine by me.

This interesting post (yours that is, modesty prevents me from posting such judgment about my own)

One aspect which your technocracy doesn't take into account, is the human incapability to deal with power. Sure, in atechnical level we can deal with it (electric power, mechanic power, etc) but with political power our brains fall apart. That's the whole reason we need some form of demarchy, which poses all sorts of other problems. (like he populists claiming those ppulists who disagree with them are cheap populists).

I sense the danger of this thread becoming a political one. Take action, Pumaman! ;D

Just to inform that I'm available all year (with the exception of this week-long wacky holiday ;D I'm going to, of course) so I don't mind when said wacky holiday will take place.

Sorry Jeremy, but Disney Land doesn't attract me enough. Bimini on the other hand... I'm already planning an extra week or so (before or after, not decided yet)to get mor of my money's worth out of the airfare.

iirc mods aws the only one who smoked. And he said something to the extent of not coming next year (again, iirc). So chances are no-one will smoke. I acnnot vouch for the effect any cloth-covered furniturewill have on any Mitteneers with matchbook in hand :o but since, even though there willl be drinking (like this year), it won't get out of hand. The people walking into ponds, rivers and off of terraces in the movie, was all just craftily edited by mods to make it look as if it really happened, but it didn't, honestly! We were all lured to our deaths by our ghostly nemesis Jess, she'll  confirm that, won't you, Jess?

Now, if the above doesn't sound just like drunken blurting, I'd be a little surprised, but trust me, you seem more worried about alcohol than you need to be. Or I've got you all wrong, in that case, my apolohgeese.

Someone I know on another forum (AX84.com/bbs-not gamerelated  but "toy"-related - guitar amps) drew my attention to this address: cvrbo.com

Unscheduled earthquakes and other disasters aside, I fully intend on coming to Miamittens. As I don't have any other Mitetns experience I've had other than in the Chateau, I can only comment that the best bit about the whole Mittens-experience is being with such wonderful people (Oh no! He's going on a yucky manhuggy-and-kissy tour again! No I'm not, worry not.), 'cause as with any holiday, it's the company that makes itwhat it is. so as long as it's a place where we all can spend (at least) the evenings together.

Oh and I'd like for a grocery store-kind of place to be relatively nearby next time. I didn't enjoy going on an hourly walk into the village only to find that they had sold out of bagguettes and we had to return empty handed.
(p.s. I think I've missed something - what's a cootie?)

If you still have some voices left to do, I'd happily  do one (or more) of them. PM me or something, I have listed my MSN-address  in my profile so it should be visible on the forum, I believe.

BTW I hop I can equal your qu]lity of voiec acting for Underworld, but I'm not sure I can - that was great! Oh and I do have microphones. if you'd like a sample, just tell me what the character is supposed to sound like, and what they have to say.

Completed Game Announcements / Re: Damsel

I feel I might as well chip in with my compliments about this short but fun game.

Do here goes: well done matey!

It was fairly simple but nonetheless it did make mehave to put my thinking cap on at a few moments. It was reward to put my time in it. (how much more complimentary can one get?) BTW, the talkie-voices were well done as well.

Thanks for making it! I'm looking forward to the next game in the series, keep it up!

Thanks, but I'm still not finding anyone (at least not when going left at the bottom of the stairs. I must also say that the whole path thing, while a cool twist, is not very obvious to me. I'll need a walkthough, I guess (I tend to have that need with adventure games, though). For while I got quite far (or so I feel), I'm not getting any further anymore. And I'm not getting enough of the multi-path action.

General Discussion / Re: Anyone play guitar?
Mon 22/09/2008 16:37:00
I can't be bothered to read the whole thread (sorry), so keep that  in mind when reading this post. I must say that having a teacher is pretty much a necessity when learning (in my experience anyway) he can correct your posture, and point you to new directions needed to learn to play. And introduce you to new music.

If you insist on being self-taught, practice on ear-training, try to get your absolute pitch as accurateas possible. Mine isn't, and that makes playing off of what you hear quite difficult. So this is good advice for anyone learning to play any instrument, but if you're self-taught, it really helps you figure out songs you hear on the radio. And it willl also in the future help you to figure out musc you hear in your head.

Some other unrelated tips:
* CAGED. Learn these chord shapes as they are your guide to all common chord shapes all along the neck.

* There are several sites with all the scales you'd want to know, first stick with the simplest: pentatonic. And learn how that fits in with the barre chord shapes on the neck, it helps your ability to improvise while accompanying (comping) instead of strumming boring whole chord shapes.

* I fully agree with the tip to practice to a metronome, you could even count the beat (1-4) of all you do (like walking), that'll help you acquire an absolute sense of the beat.

* Try to learn some music theory, starting with how the chords are made up (learn about the root note, the third, the 7th , etc.), and how the chords themselves relate to eachother (learn about the 1-4-5 standard (the blues) then try to understand how this compares to songs YOU like (which aren't blues, I take it - Slayer isn't so well known for their genteel blues playing).
* I also agree a bit with the tip to start with an acoustic, but if you want to play metal, an acoustic is a very original approach, so you'd want to own an electric even before you get to the ability required by your taste in music. Even though you don't know enough to make a well-informed purchase (you acquire new preferences along the way, so you might want a singlecoil guitar having bought a humbucker one)but you can play your electric without amp as well, it'll be really soft, which your neihghbours will love you for, oh and don't fall into  the trap of "Slayer has 100W Marshalls, so I'll need at least 50 watts to keep up with them" (as if 50w is hal as loud as 100w!). You can learn all about small amps at http://www.ax84.com a cool site(you might find posts there from this cool, wise guy named DutchMarco ;) But anyway, you can buy the guitar already and not an amp, which I would reccommend to a starter, as you'd probably be mickeying about making cool sounds with the amp instead of practising.

I'm stuck.  My notes now say I have to meet everyone in cargo bay five, but I can't seem to find anyone there. And I have looked around.

Spoiler
Also I fixed the control panel, but the power is still off, so I can't open the air hatch. (and I still have the gun, btw)

Please help! I like this game a lot, there are some minor flaws but not many at all. Also, this is a verygood story. I like how it unfolds, although
Spoiler
It seems pretty obvious that Chisholm did it, yet none of the dialog seems to go that way. They all keep accusing Leanna, and when talking to Averie, Leo seems adament to asking about Ted. Which seems a ridiculous prospect, there is nothing that points at Ted being a likely susspect, except htat he's not introduced early in the game, so we don't know him for very long yet. Then again, we don't know Leo and Averie very long (they've only been introduced in this game, not before) so they are as likely suspects as Ted

This is an impressive game, sure the graphics may seem simple (I don't like how the characters sometimes don't have faces, they should have IMHO.) but their simplicity has allowed you to finish the game. Whereas for my game (when it was still being worked on) I wanted too fancy graphics but I came to a point where I couldn't live up to my own standards any more. Oh well, this isn't the C&C area, I like it but I'm stuck and I need help!

I'll admit it's been a while since I've checked it, but http://www.indylc2.com doesn't seem operational anymore. Has there been anannouncement I missed? I get forawaaaarde from the LC2-website to http://www.netland.se/obetalda/ And it's not as if I understand Swedish or anything, but either there's some server trouble or the site has disappeared (my guess is LucasArts found out and wasn't too pleased.)

Ivy, I've already warned you that you would insult a whole nation this way.

But look: no-one from the Soviet Committee of Electronic Propaganda Entertainment has played it yet! But I'm glad you didn't bother about that too much. I must say it is somewhat daring to draw the Evil Queen like that. ;D
I'm so glad that you made this game, game-wise it's not that much (even less challenging than your ordinary hack n slash-game) but it's still great fun! Voiceacting for it was fun too, so I got double the fun out of it. :o
Three cheers to you:

Ivy's space shennanigans.. loving picture the title scores it.
??? Is that a pun on the Soviet-twist Ivy's putting on her game? If not, please explain because the sentence doesn't register with me.....

DutchMarco - One of my favorite mitten moments was your story about your friend who died...how morbid. You have a wonderful sense of humor, and I couldn't imagine being funny in another language, it's hard enough doing it one. Can't wait to see you next year.
Likewise, Mills, but the story about my neighbour dying, wasn't a joke, just a story I used to illustrate a point we were making.

I hadn't taken you to be so morbid.

But seriously, I'll miss your company for the rest of the year.  Looking forward to meeting you again!

For those of you who were there:

Are you as frightened of her stare as I am?
I'm not easily frightened, but she goes a long way towards achieving that, esp. the stare when combined with the kniving action. Can't wait to see walkcycles! And there were lots of Aargh!-lines to be voice-acted by all actors. Somehow I get the impression that this game won't be rated for little children (well, you know: in Soviet Russia game rates you). I'm looking forward to playing this twisted little game.

I haen't watched the whole film yet but I already love it! But I already know that some bits of my acting which I'd like to have done differently, I'm hard to please (particularly by myself ;D). But I'm amazed that you've done such a good job on such short notice, I suppose I could have expected such a good job in editing with your experience in doing that.

I must say the scene where I fall into the river was very nicely done (talking about your editing, my own acting does come up for some self-criticism, that stupid fat grin on my face does seem quite out of place given the part).

I originally felt that the plot where the ancestor died there was a bit cliched, but if you want to prevent all cliches, get a paid scriptwriter! It did work beautifully for this film though.

Oh, and Bob (and the rest who were by the river or elsewhere talking to Ben) thanks for your kind words :)

So Mark, I'd like to close off by telling you my judgment on this film (and the process of making it): het was zo mooi.

So, any ideas yet for Miamittens09? If we start coming up with script-ideas soon it might even work out better than this (can perfection be betterred?)  And having just watched the whole movie, I'd like to ay that these were some fablous acting performances by all of you, ladies and gents. And the last special effect is also beautifully done, it worked better than I dared hope for)
But I still find it slightly ironic that Radiant's character was named Claude, while his real name is Pieter whixch is obviously much more similar to Pierre, so we'd have had Jean-Pierre  talking to Pierre (that acting looked almost professional guys!), not an uncommon occurrence in France, esp. not over some wine.
Oh and I also loved the humour in there. Shame I couldn't quite hear Davy and Ryan's comment "So, you're the Englishman?" "Yes" "You sleep in the cellar". That was a great ad-lib gents!
