Critics' Lounge / My Little Essay
Sat 12/02/2005 01:07:42
If you would like to see a little essay, click on the link at the bottom of my sig and read the first thing you see (or at least the one labeled 2/11/05).
Tell me what all y'alls think!

I was just thinking about the songs in Rob Blanc 3 and how all but one of them (the Rob Blanc theme, by wonderful Mark Lovegrove) were ripped. Does anyone have any info on these songs? 'Cuz all I know is that the song on Paul's home planet was some song by Sting. Just curious.

I was thinking of stupidity.

QuoteSimilar Objects
hate (hatred, dislike), a headache, anger, sadness, a question, a war, the wind, depression, an earthquake, calculus (mathematics), a catapult, lighter fluid

Wow. It is similar to some of these things (like a headache and war(yes, I'm a Democrat)), but completely different from others (like calculus (unless ypu're a student), a question, an earthquake, and lighter fluid (WTF???))

Some people ARE weird, but some people are clever. and some are philosophers.

Okay, really, I'm done posting now.

Really.

OK, maybe.

Bet you didn't know THESE things about a pie:

QuoteUncommon Knowledge about a pie
Do people own it as a pet?Ã,  I say Probably.
Can it save your life?Ã,  I say Yes.
Do you put things in it?Ã,  I say Yes.
Does it win races?Ã,  I say Probably.
Does it ring?Ã,  I say Yes.
Is it a vegetarian?Ã,  I say Probably.
Can it be used in a pie?Ã,  I say Yes.
Does it eat grass?Ã,  I say Yes.
Does it have wings?Ã,  I say Probably.
Does it serve a purpose?Ã,  I say No.
Does it live above ground?Ã,  I say Probably.
Does it live in mountains?Ã,  I say Probably.
Does it have a long nose?Ã,  I say Yes.
Can it be trained to obey commands?Ã,  I say Yes.
Can it be used to talk to others?Ã,  I say Yes.
Is it fuzzy?Ã,  I say Probably.

Since it gets information from people, there are some really wacked-out people out there. However, it is true that it can be used in a pie.  ;)  ::)

QuoteHe did not gess that I was thinking on a CD..
I guess it depends of the questions it asked you, here's my try at the same thing:
QuoteI am guessing that it is a CD-ROM?
11.   Ã,     Can it make a sound? No...

CDs make sound all the time! What do you call "Playing a CD?"

[MORE] Also, I played it and it got "Baked Potato" (mine was potato) after 30 guesses. It was close though, it came up with "Mashed Potatoes" after 20. Spooky.

[STILL MORE] It also got "Sea Serpent" after 20 guesses (I was thinking "Loch Ness Monster").

So I decided to do a bit of a musical CHALL... just look at the subject, OK?

Anyway, I want to see if you "alls" can make up a song that has sudden, drastic tempo and/or volume changes. ("Tempo" is the musical term for speed.) Please make it MIDI or MP3, none of that X-whatever junk. OGG is also acceptaple, as is AIFF (but please don't use AIFF unless you want the 28.8 K-ers to spank you until your bottom turns red).

This is not a contest, and there is no winner. It is open as long as forever is. In that good spirit, I will make a song that has absolutely nothing to do with this activity and post it on the thread. So, happy scoring/arranging/whatevering! Toodles!

When I'm not paying paying attention, I chew my shirt.
I used to flap my arms up and down when I was excited. (People have often made jokes about me flying away...)
As for nervous, I have no clue what I do when I'm nervous. Huh.

After thinking for a while... ??? ??? ??? ???

I finally had a great idea. :D

I changed this thread to one where people can show them the funny and/or interesting Flash things they have come across.

I thought it was funny the first time, but then it got boring. Well, I guess I'll go relax.

*Einoo sits down and enjoys a bottle of Yourself Cola*

*Einoo spits the Yourself Cola out when he realizes it's just soy sauce*

Anyway, you WILL like these ones better.

Could you please help me on my new short story, "Natural Selection"?  I would like to know what you have to say about it.

The story is here:

http://homepage.mac.com/daved5/stories/selection.html

Do you like my style? Do you like my humor? And don't be too put off, I can write very light stories as well. What else do you like and/or not like? I can deal with criticism, but please tell me what you're criticizing.

I think that the original menu theme should be kept. Instead of the new one.

Since it's supposed to be barren, I'd think it would work.Ã,  However, there are a couple things detracting from the image.Ã,  1) The building looks a bit too flat.Ã,  Simple is okay but not if it looks 2-dimensional.Ã,  You wouldn't even have to do any hard perspective work but having it even slightly at an angle so you could see a side-wall receding would do wonders.Ã,
2) The building doesn't blend with its surroundings. The somber coloring of the building wouldn't clash too badly but with the well-lit windows, you'd assume there'd be light and shadows cast from the building.Ã,  If you're using anything other than MS-paint, you can easily add a touch of glow around the neon lights and light from the windows (it doesn't have to be precise squares of light, it could be just making the area out front a little lighter).Ã,  With all the light beaming from signs and windows, I'd assume the rectangular unit on the roof would be a little darker as well.Ã,

I like the look, reminds me a bit of SQ3 but with the soft-textured ground & sky and the hard-edged 16-color style building, it clashes just a bit too much.
I like the buildings. There's only one nitpick with this picture: Why isn't there a K at the end of "attac"?

My boss immediately went to the doctor because he thought he was insane, and I ran out of the building. I ran so far that my legs wore out. Finally, I was in an alley that smelled of horseradish. I was suddenly at a dead end. Then... a "pack" of possums slowly ganged up on me...

PS: How exactly do we decide when one story ends and another starts?

In case anyone forgot after such a long period, I checked some old threads and this appears to go under the category of a GTD (Game Theory Discussion). Maybe you should move it and add the GTD Label Thingâ,,¢ to your thread.
