I like Allah. I call Him God, though. Others call him Jahweh or Jehovah. He doesn't seem to bother, then why do we?

What's that? ;D
You got me there. Lets edit that.

Quote from: SuperFoopBut after looking at it twice.. I feel like I sort of made it worse.
I don't think so. Just make the shoulders hang a little in the side view, bend him over (not too much, though, he's not in prison, and he didn't drop the soap...)

It 'll turn out nicely.

I'll shut up now...

Good one!
I can only tell you to pay more attention to your lines, but this looks good!

Keep going!

Oh no...
Not another one!
Kids these days start drawing younger and younger... As a drawing addict I'd advise you to stop, the longer you keep it up, the harder it gets to quit. If you draw for like 9 more years, you'll end up doing stuff like this

What I'm trying to say, in my own twisted way, is that it's not a bad first attempt. My drawings at age 13 would never include shading, so you're ahead of me there.

First thing you need to do is determine the light source, and the light direction. Keep that in mind.

As for the pose, I'll keep telling it to anyone who wants to hear it... Stickfigures help. A lot. You want a mopy character? You can draw a mopy face, but that doesn't mean the overall picture will be. Draw a mopy stickfigure first, so the mopyness is in the pose. Than add the face and give the sticky guy some flesh to move around. It's one of the easiest but most effective tricks of the trade.

The proportions are OK, big heads and small bodies are cartoony, but I think the waistline should be higher. The legs are too short compared to the torso and the torso is too tall compared to the arms.

And be proud of your work. I know I am, otherwise I wouldn't link it in my post. ;D Everything is up for improvement.

Drey supports you.

Quote from: HaddasAnd as far as tattoos go, you could tattoo him with the logo of his band etc or search for images of cool tattoos
Yeah. If only I could think of a decent band name, it would help finding a logo too. Right now, it's all blank.

Quote from: HaddasThat guitar needs to be way larger.
Quote from: AnarchoDude needs some strings!
Never heard of the hard-rocking ukelele band? Not even those really nifty stringless ones?
I guess I'm the only one, then...

I'll keep you guys informed.

About the pose, there are some useful changes possilble:
- The cane should be longer, if you have to stretch your arm just to make it reach the ground, it isn't of much use, is it?
- Try drawing stick figures first. Comes in real handy when trying to strike a pose. This pose is too stiff, try to loosen up. Maybe a contrapost-pose?
I did a really quick OpenCanvas sketch trying to explain.

Note that the blue lines refer to the stick figure. The direction of the shoulders and the hips are opposite. Doing this gives a relaxed pose (in case of female characters it becomes more seductive).

Try it out. It helps. If not, I've been living a lie over 20 years.

Keep it up.

If anyone feels up for an paintover (for tattoos, eg.), here's a quick pose sketch (still with the plastic pants...)

Have fun,

Rock on!

Thanks for the fast replies! And you haven't even seen the groupies yet :P

Quote from: leshaussebonsdepending of what do you hear by rock :p
I'm looking for something Guns n' Roses-like, a bunch of hard rocking wiseguys who do a lot of freaky stuff. I drew these listening to Slash's Snakepit, actually.

Quote from: SteveMcCreaTo rock them up a bit... instruments?
Nah, they're an a capella/barbershop groupÃ,  ;D
No, instruments could indeed add something to the picture...

Quote from: ProgZmaxI would strongly suggest against attempting anything of this quality for animated sprites though, unless you reduced color/shading to make them more like cartoons.
Well, I'm still trying to figure that out... For one thing, I'm planning to do them in 3D, but on the other hand, 3D never looks as cool as 2D (MI3 compared to MI4 proves my point, I guess). But then animating 2D can be a lot of tedious work... And I get a worse headache from my lighttable then I do from a keg of beer (drinking or just getting it slammed in the face...).
I'll flip a coin about that matter.

Quote from: ProgZmaxThe only thing I would suggest is correcting the guy with the big arms.Ã,  They are much too large for his torso size and his right forearm is too narrow, making his hand too small.
I was thinking about that, but I wanted to give them some physical differences referring to the instrument they're playing. (From left to right: bass, guitar, guitar, drums, vocals...) The guy you're referring to would be the drummer, hence his oversized arms. As for hands, he doesn't need them as big as guitarists, so I made 'em (too) small.

Quote from: JRock(though the guy on the far right could use a nose jobÃ,  Ã, )
Probably, but he's got something against surgery. Gossip says it's got something to do with his secret relationship with Cher. He hasn't commented yet on that subject.
Other than that, I would agree. ;D

I also realised that the colors just ain't right... (The combination of the clothes, that is) But you'll have to excuse me, I'm colourblind. But I know all RGB coordinates by heart!! 8)

Hello everybody!

I 've been thinking about making a game of my own, and at one point I stopped thinkin' and started doin'...
And sketchin'!

Here's the result for my first characters (NPC, probably)

They're supposed to be a rock band.
Does anyone have any ideas as how to rock 'em up? How can I improve them?

Before you bring it up, I have been thinking about tattoos, and I'm currently designing them.

Thanks.
