Let me ask your opinions about the legs. The character is going to be used in a platformer. Do you think having the characters footing change position during the firing animation will throw people off at all?

As long as they're back where they were at the animation's end, I think you're safe.

On the Americanisation front, do you remember FilmFour's 'The Madness of King George'? The name was changed from 'The Madness of King George III' in case American audiences thought it was part of a trilogy.

Personally, I was wondering what happened to Malcolm part I to IX.

I recall that Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had a similar bowdlerisation for the American edition when they change the work "Fuck" to "Belgium". Then they launched into a long-winded but funny explanation of why Belgium was the worst swearword everywhere in the whole universe, except for one, mostly harmless, little blue and green planet...

I actually found that funny. Didn't Adams himself put that bit in?

Oh, missunderstanding... I thought the change came while the book to movie process, not during the exportation of the fil from the UK to the US. Does that mean that there are two english versions of the film? Curious...

Yes, apparently there are.

Only one more day to go!

The entries so far have been great, and once again it'll be really hard to decide...

Of course, the changing of the title didn't start with the movie.
The original book had its title changed to "...Sorcerer's Stone" (along with some things like "motorbike" to "motorcycle", or vice versa, I can't remember which is the British one). So I can't really blame the filmmakers for wanting to keep the title that many kids are already accustomed to in America.
All in all, I have to give the filmmakers credit for conforming to J K Rowling's wishes and using an almost all-British cast in the movie (unlike the cinematic abortion that "Constantine" will no doubts turn out to be).

Works now! :D
Very nice first effort, I liked the Terry Gilliamish way the graphics were glued together (and the cartoon legs, hehe) ...but next time please let someone spellcheck the thing. ;)

Spud, neither of the links seem to be working. :(

Crawling From the Depths Of Space

Very lovecraftian, with a dash of Rocky Horror Picture Show End Monologue. I like it.

Oh, forgot to mention this before... not sure about Satsumoid. It sounds like "something in the manner of a tangerine".

Thanks Boyd, corrected.
I like your suggestions. Perhaps something like "The Crawling" or "The Scuttling", if those aren't movie titles yet, in reference to the werewolf movie "The Howling".

A final suggestion: Wait until the game is 100% or 99% finished - most of the time a title will occur to you at the very end when you have a complete mental overview of the whole project. Otherwise your name will likely shape the rest of the project and you may find yourself forcing your original story into different directions just to fit the title. Happened to me more than once when I was younger...

Seriously though, I'd either avoid putting the word in the title, or use only the word, like  in "Alien" or "Predator". If you're going for a serious game, titles like "Revenge/Wrath/Attack of the..." is likely to give a cheesy impression.

Also, and this is pure personal opinion, to me "Solonoid" sounds like someone describing a lonesome geek while using a Brooklyn accent.

In the game folder, the same one where you save your rooms.
NOT in the "Compiled" folder.

I say just fiddle about with the setup file until you can find something your computer doesn't object to.

With all due respect: Rubbish.

If the game doesn't respond to the Address, IRQ and DMA settings your sound card is set to (or in newer Windows versions, the ones that your Soundblaster emulation is set to) , it won't respond at all.

With most classic LucasArts games, the "something your computer doesn't object to" tends to mean AdLib MIDI music and no digital sound whatsoever - which is unacceptable for a Talkie adventure version (and I'd say even unacceptable for a game that uses the iMuse music technique).

No, Puddin' is right: Scummvm is the way to go.

You have to use the brush with the paint remover, then the wall.

That's how I remember it, but it doesn't seem to work.

Beginners' Technical Questions / Re: RAR

If you're using a Windows computer, the easiest way would be to download WinRar, which can handle the files.
You can find WinRar here: http://www.rarlab.com/

Basically, it's an alternative (some say better) method to ZIP files, i.e. a way to compress files so they take up less space.
