I don't think it should go into the Compiled folder.
Put it in your normal game folder, delete any music1.mp3 or music1.mid or similar that you may have there, and select "Rebuild VOX files" from the "Game" menu.

Have you tried using WAV files instead?
I had a similar talk with someone recently and he claimed that 1-2 seconds was "too short" for an MP3 file.
Never got around to trying it out myself to see what exactly he meant, though...

Read the tutorial in the manual. ::)

Thanks, I'm flattered...

A suggestion though: make the names a bit smaller (right now, they're almost as large as the game's title) and you might want to change "credits" to "thanks to".
After all, most of the game's credits would belong to yourself...

Thanks... I must have glanced over the "tidbits & snippets" thread about six times by now, but somehow this bit of info never stuck...

I don't have an answer, but a related question:
How do I display " in a string?

Legal issues with LucasArts aside, it might be a fun idea to remake Monkey Island, but with a start menu like at the beginning of Part Two...
- "Normal (Easy) Mode" (which would be the original)
- "Challenging Mode" (with many more puzzles to make it more entertaining for those who have already played the original)

There are so many locations (the back alley, the town, the jungle, the forest) that could be explored further... and just imagine replacing the hilarious, but somewhat surreal off-screen sequence in the governor's mansion ("use wax lips on rhino" or whatever it was) with a real puzzle...

Well, I'd like it, anyway.

*starts dreaming about a MI where the lookout at the start won't let you into town until you've performed some sort of service for him*

EDIT
As long as it's not something like this...

QuoteI'm having to stop myself from working on the game during the week to make sure I don't fall behind on my studies.

You're a better man than I am...

OK, now I feel really old.

28.

Yes! Very nice.

Leftovers:

- some conversations still have the old "quotation mark" problem
- now the "walk to" icon has grey pixels around it

I was surprised to discover the new room at the end... what a cool gift for the people who already tested the first version :D

And it's always nice to see people throw Lovecraft references into their games... looks like I better get cracking on finishing my own soon ;)

Oh, and the city map looks awesome. I'm really looking forward to the release of this game.

Tee hee.  "I mean... Wow, they're just the windows." I really liked the interplay between character and narrator in this one.

Good first effort, you definitely have great potential.
As long as you're trying out stuff: When the drawers are open, the player can move around behind them. Try experimenting with the baseline of objects (see manual) so the character will appear in front of them.

Normally I'd say play the games and then hit ALT + PRINT to copy the screen to the clipboard, and then paste it into your favourite graphics program from the "Edit" menu, but I'm not sure if that works with the old DOS games.

Google image search might be another way...

Works! ;D Very nice work.

Two suggestions though:

Firstly, you might want to mix the screenshots more for variety, not a bunch of Sam & Max followed by a bunch of Maniac Mansion, followed by a bunch of Grim Fandango...

Secondly, and this is more a request if you ever do a second screensaver: More classic games please! Monkey Island 1, Zak McKracken, some of the old Sierra "Quest" games, the original Larry... in general, more old school stuff rather than Indiana Jones in 3D....

Still, I'll probably keep this one around for a while. Thanks for making it.

No problem. I'd actually prefer having just the .scr file without any baggage.
#176
Download worked... but installing didn't. All the installer did was create a file named "Uninstal.exe" in my Windows directory (something, btw, which I find a bit dangerous), and no other .scr or .exe file.
#177
Can't download, it keeps timing out :(

Oh well, I'll try again later. I like the idea a lot,

Then there was also another hard decision when I was making it: If I made the title black, it was more legible, but boring, if I left the tiltle red, it added color, but made the title less legible.

Red, with a black outline.

Soitanly. ;D
Never got around to playing it much, though. My effort is nowhere near the league of Neverhood, btw... just another very small game.

I recently got a digital camera and thought it might be fun to experiment with a claymation look for an AGS game (also, as you may have noticed from my Doom game, I'm too lazy to draw sprites at the moment...)

I'm assuming you're talking about the mutant dog on the road...

Spoiler
Stick with the problem. It's a very fetching one.
