Basically, all the book is, is a print version of his website.
A website Rowling herself has refered to in interviews with high reguard, even telling people to go there for more information.

In Rollings view, the web is basically "anything goes" so she has never persued people for their fan sites, dispite them (and every fan site for that matter) being full of copyrighted material.

The problems started when Vander Ark decided to print this website in a book format, kind of an encyclopedia of Harry potter, and directly make a profit from it.
The fact his page contains all this stuff, means it should have been taken down long ago, but Rowlongs allowed it to stay, as most people allow fan work to be created for no profit.

Now on the internet he can make a profit, but not by selling the content, but by the advertising on the site.
When he publishes a book, he is directly selling her material, and that is a No No. I would be pissed off too.

Not only that, but Rowling also has an Official Encyclopedia of Harry Potter in production, so Vander Arks book would be competing directly with hers. Wich is another No No!

Then theres always the chance his will sell better. How embarrising for Rowling. Personally i wouldnt take the chance!

Id sue his ass too.

QUick Idea for a game and some details.
Incomplete, but let me know what yas think

Back Story:
You work for a game company, lets call it 'Adventure Studio Games'
Your latest release game *insert comical title here* has been released and unfortunatly for you (the games key designer and lead programmer) the game sucks, and hundreds of ASG fans have gathered outside the building waiting for your exit so they can lynch you!

Cut to game:
Start off in your office, its late, and your working back to make up for being late this morning so you are the only ones there. Just as your about to finish up for the day, you get the news about the situation brewing outside.
You decide to call the police.
But how to make the call? You check your mobile, its flat and you never could work out the fancy dialing system to get the office phone to call an outside line. Walk round the building for a bit, find a pay phone, but ahh, no coins :S *insert typical puzzle to find a coin here*(eg. Coin in drain with magnet on stick) you got the coin, turns out the phone is broken *insert typical puzzle to fix the phone here* (eg. use plyers with lenght of wire, Use tape with stripped wire, ect)
Finally, the police are on the way!

Cut scene: Cops arrive and enter the buildings lobby to talk to you and escort you out. That is untill they also find out it was you who was responsible for the desecration of their favorite game series. Have a small chase around the lobby, bfore you give them the slip and enter the elevator.

Cut to game:
You in elevator, you hear from the other side of the door "lets take the stairs".
how to get out of the elevator? all floors lead to being arrested.  *puzzle how to escape the elevator* (eg. Stop elevator between floors, use man hole, use screwdriver on vent, get into vent and crawl to new room.

Now in a server room for the company, thats locked from the other side. *puzzle to escape room* (eg find code on a screwed up piece of paper in the bin, enter code 1234 into the terminal near the door.)

Cut Scene: Meanwhile...
Cops let the mob into the building to help search floor by floor. Floor 1 is now off limits.

Cut to game: Your in a new room off the server room, its the IT Lab. Your see the experimental company robot in the corner and decide it could be your protector, if only you could get it working and reprogram it. *insert puzze to get robot working* (eg. Use battery with Robot, use USB cable laptop, use usb-latop with robot) Robot powers up, and vows to help you get rid of the people.
You send the robot on a recon mission.

Cust Scene: He bursts into flames and dies. fortunatly he still get rid of the people, as the sprinkler system and fire alarm went off, and everyone ran.

*insert more here*

End Cut Scene: Finally making it home after a hard day at work, you head off to bead, dreaiming of good things.
You awake in the morning and lookoutside your window, only to see a mob of people ready to lynch you again. NOOOOOOO!

Well, thats my general idea for an outline of a possible game.

Well, im in, ill do whatever i can to help, but as i said, i havnt opend AGS in a long ass time now, and i wasnt ever very good anyways, but ill do what i can. For now ill be pitching ideas untill a task comes along i can do

Id have to suggest it be somthing like "Demo Quest"

Showing off as much things as that can be done with the AGS engine as possible, and fitting it in a nice story line.

Dont tell me, it was one of thiose "login to see my pics" things?

Yeh, could have some interesting results even if it doesnt wint the comp or even make it in.

Id love to start somthing like this, but my AGS skills are not the best and completely out of practice.
However i am up for attempting to organise a group of people, but really any organiser should really have alot of AGS skills and experience and be known around here.

They are covering up somthing else thats going on by distracting you with crap about an election thats still 6 months off.

Never before have i seen them make such a big deal out the the compitition of 2 candidates from the same party. Its not like both of them can run, and its not like the public has any say in who gets to run.

We all know Obama cant be President, hes black and hes an Arab. No im not Racist, but the shit would hit the fan if he got in, especially in the southern states!
Clinton is a Woman who is only there because of the arrangement made when Bill was caught with his pants down. Again, im not sexist, but alot of Older people are, and again the shit would hit the fan IMO.

Seems to me with all this publicity, they are both doing more damage to their reputations than good too.

If either Clinton or Obama get in, the EC will just enstate McCain.
Why? Because the people who really run the US (The reserve bank, DuPont, Arms Dealers ect) want the turmoil in the Middle East to continue. McCain has the same dumbass Attitude as bush and will make a Perfect puppet. Hell, hes already stated that they will be in Iraq for the next 100 years...

hmmm.. sounds like somthing this community should all band together and make a kickass game for.

X-Files was quiet good for about the first 3 seasons.

Must agree with DOTT, excellent classic intro

I used to like the Privateer intro, and the line "besides, im on a budget" *BOOM*

I also use to like the Ultima 8, Pagan intro, as short as it is.

My favorite classic intro tho has to be Dune.
Not the Floppy version, the re-release on CD-Rom.

And of course, we cant forget Zero Wing.
Well, the intro is relitivly boring, but the classic "All your bases are belong to us" line comes from there

I liked the old ones at the time they played here (84), but last year, i watched them again.

Seson 1 isnt too bad, but i definetly prefer the reimagining as far as plot goes.
Baltar hanging out with Lucifer just seems wrong. I prefer the way hes villanised in the new.

However season 2 of the old Galactica is TERRIBLE. They had made it back to earth and were running a bunch of time traveling missions. 3/4 the cast changes if not more, and the writers obviously went in a new direction, a bad one!

Sweet, i have been waiting for this for ages...

The last episode was a huge ass cliff hanger. Almost had me as excited as when the Galactica and the Pegasus were about to fight it out and the episode ended.

This has been coming for years.
Internet these days is more expensive than it was 10 years ago, and you get less than you did then too.

Of course governments want to regulate the information we have access too, but not nessecarily as a money game. IMO its got alot more to do with the controll on information than who paid who for what, thats just an excuse.

However the modern internet user is also at fault.
With the advent of "web 2.0" everyone wants everything NOW and they want it in ultra high quality.
Too many kids these days who werent around for the beginnings of the "internet" just take for granted the speeds we get today and dont at all apreciate the advances in tecnology over the past 10 years.

Its this attitude of "i want it now" that ties up the internets "tubes" and starts to make these companies ask what they can do to regulate traffic through their servers. To them the answer is simple, charge for traffic / access to your server. You can understand why too.

Say your tracetr goes like this:
Your Home -----  Your ISP ----- Virgins server ---- YouTube
Every time you watch a vid at youtube, your tieing up resources on virgins server.
Why should Virgins paying customers have to suffer because you (who doesnt pay them) are streaming vids through their server?

If anything their model should be CUSTOMER based and not Website based.
That is, a site owner cant pay Virgin to allow their traffic at a faster rate, however any people using Virgins IPS should get priority over people on other ISPs whos traffic is just routed through Virgin.

Id be more worried about governments passing legislation to say what we can view on the internet (Like China for example) than worrying about Virgin trying to keep their users happy.
