Id say maybe try making the path wider and more straight.'Possible a problem with it calculating waypoints. Tho im a noob so i really dont know for sure.

I have a similar problem on some of my maps where the walkable ares are complicated. Alot of the time it just appears to crash whilst ploting a path through the maze. Kinda stupid if you ask me.

Not sure how many waypoints the game automatically makes, but its way too many. Especially when the maps are complicated maze type things.

Since people should have tio find there way through a maze, the waypoints it makes it you can click somewhere that seems unreachable game pauses for a few seconds and he makes his way all the way there. If its not possible to get there the game pauses for like 5 seconds apptempting to plot a path, then does nothing.

Other times he just starts walking there and whehn he gets stuck hes teleported to another part of the map..

I guess ill ask in here before i go starting a thread about it since its a similar problem...

Is there a way to turn this off? I got a dam fast PC so i feel for anyone whos running old hardware. If i havbe to wait 5 seconds i cant imagin how long someone on an old pentium has to wait.

I think a Mod should go through this thread and find all the links that still work.

Delete the thread and start it agin with working only links.

This is barely helpful having to sort through all these links when so many dont work.

Im working on my first game ATM. (other than my test game wich all u can do is walk around in lol)

Im a complete AGS noob. Learning as i go. Im with Akatosh. Dont attempt it yet. First id try a littel game without enemies, just puzzles and other characters to interact with. Learn how all the AGS feature that dont require scripting work.

Then start a new game and read these..

If you understand and get through that without too much swearing and confusion you should be abel to pull it off.

This "tutorial" may be helpful for geting you started. It doesnt quiet have enemies in it, they are just hotspots, but it will give you somewhere to start from.

Use the Manual as much as you can (F1) I know, its a real bitch of a thing to understand, but it can be helpful. I wouldnt recomment diving straight into reading the manual. If you dont understand the scripting tutorials, it will only confuse you more.

The most valuble advice i can give you is START SIMPLE and DONT RUSH. You wont be making intense battles and an excecllent game overnight. Progress may be slow. I was in a big hurry at first. Once i relaxed and took more time, things became easier. IF you get stuck, work on another part of your game for a while of take a break and try again later.

After 3 weeks, i have 8 characters and 42 rooms making up a BASIC rpg with very Primative combat and enemies. But im learning and i will release this game even tho im sure it sucks by people around heres standards, but noone expects your first AGS project to be Top Stuff, so you shouldnt either.

Very nice guitarist IMO, is maybe fix the face a littel, more detail so when u animate him, his expression can change a littel.

The battel theme is quiet good too, sounds like a battel scene from Crouching Tiger or somthing. I like it more at the start than the end tho, seems to sound more threatening. The tune becomes much less threatening sounding with the Cielos or whatever those are.

If you want him outlined black, you must draw him  that way. Open up your favorite paint program and fix him up to your liking. Copy to Clipboard and over write the old one.

As far as i know (noob here) theres no way to make AGS give your character a border, however im am quiet possibly wrong.

Nah its a fight.

And i dont mean No scripting, i just dont want to be scripting every possible animation depending on where they are standing. I was going to do the old Final Fantasy trick where they just stay on 1 sidede of the screen and swing at nothing and the enemy takes damage.

There is some controll, you can only swing as of right now, but after tonight i should have added eating health pots and a magic attack. I thought of some pretty simple ways to have a fight interaction setup. So if worst comes to worst i can fall back on them :P

I dont want to do too much scripting. Ive been using AGS only 2 weeks now so i was trying to keep things as simple as possible for this game to get the hang of things and i know the more complicated i try and make it, the more bugs it will have :P

Ill experiment a bit and see what i came up with that actually works :D

Ok.. so another annoying noob question frorm the noob king Fee...  ::)

So.. In the fight sequence, im trying to make it so when you click the enemy with a wepon, the main character will walk over to him and then take a swing.

Is it possible to make him move to another character and  swing? the character[FEE].Walk command only seems to accept co-ordinates. The Follow Command makes you walk around behind the Enemy. So if hes facing you, the character swings at nothing, then walks around the enemy. On the second attack they swing at nothing as they have their backs to each other.

So.. is there some other command that will make him move next to the enemy no matter what way hes facing? Can i use the character.walk command to do so?

The Follow command isnt too bad, i was goint to make them follow each other around in circles and fight for some reson he Swings at the enemy from a screen away, then procedes to follow him insted of follow then swing :/

Some1 wanna gime a hint here plz? :D

I have a few ideas i can do IF i cant get it to work like that, but they are crappy work arounds... then again, im pretty sure all my scripts are crapy work arounds lol :P

However, if you notice the search doesnt just include the topic, it searches the whole thread and highlights where what you searched in a summary for each topic it lists, so IMO it makes no difference either way. :D

Man, i think your overreacting to what sounds like nothing. I mean you have 3 posts how much trouble can these guys possibly cause when you have 3 posts, one of wich is in here. If they are harassing you by PM.. just dedlete em :/

Basically every forum you goto has atleast one Asshole. I have 2800 members on my forum, and altho some are complete assholes, generally people are respectful and well behaved. There is generally only 3 trouble makers.

Best soloution for you. Make a new forum account and tell nobody its name. If you have to ask questions, use that account. If you wanna post in other places, use this one. NEVER let people push you around and ruin your fun.

Thanks dude.. tho it took me a while to figure it out.. theres a mistake in that line.

When i check the manual for player.z its not listed. Its listed under character.z and as usual the example is not as simple as am example a manual should provide.

Having a minor problem in some of the rooms.

I have some rooms at 2800x2800. The walkable ares seem to be pretty much spot on, they are SLIGHTLY off, but its barely noticable.

However. with some rooms at 640x480 my character is able to walk above the walkable areas. I do CTRL-A to check out the area and I am standing outside where it is set.

I redraw the rooms and i still get the same problem :/

I could draw the walkable areas off center. But it took me 3 hrs on 1 of the maps to actually draw it out in the first place  :'(

Before you ask.. i checked the forums, the manual, the FAQ and the Wiki.. I cant find what im after....
