a friend of mine (who plays drums in my band) has got a decent telescope!
we often drive to places that are as dark as possible to get a glimpse of the worlds around us.
he knows his share of astronomy and we often track down mercier objects for fun.
other cool stuff sighted through his scope are:
mars (the poles were clearly visible)
saturn (obviously an orb with a ring around it)
venus (pretty small planet not much to witness)
the moon (looking for craters and trying to find prove for the theory of the moon being made of cheese)

and random stars or clusters

with the naked eye we try to spot as much starsigns as possible and falling stars and satalites, often enough we check what time the ISS is flying over and see if we can spot it!

ow the fun we have

an interesting site if you like looking up is www.heavens-above.com a detailed site about wich stars/planets/clusters/meteorites/satalites and such are visible at what time in your little corner of the world!

have fun!

General Discussion / my music week
Mon 11/06/2007 12:39:37
waking up with a headache that could kill a whale and my ears still ringing I realised I had a pretty DAMN good week!

so let me tell you about it!

it all started with Elvis Fergis a nice bloke with some nice tunes he opened for Willy Mason, a young folk singer/songwriter wich was a lovely concert.
his lyrics are very clever and he really gets it going!

then I went to the Who!
the Cult opened for the who wich was pretty cool.
I'm a MAD who fan I've seen them before but never like this it was a great show lots of endless wire stuff great GREAT jams, just awesome on the whole!
I even got a wink from Pete Townshend, probably 'cause I was looking ridiculously happy or something.

then I went to see bowling for soup, not really my thing but I had fun.

then there was this festival with lots a dutch bands and I had a backstage pass wich equals free beer al day long HUZZAH!

and finally I had tickets to see Robyn Hitchcock and the venus 3, the whaddayasay? Robyn Hitchcock (some new wave guy) and the venus 3 (wich are actually 3 members from the minus 5! still doesn't ring a bell? the guitarist is Peter Buck who also does guitar on REM, ahhhhh now you get it?)
this was the small hall in paradiso, I've seen REM times before (even met Peter Buck and Mike Mills) but this time I could litterally sneeze on him if I wanted to.
awesome!

but wait! there's more!
same night in the big hall of paradiso Patti Smith performed! so I sneaked in and got to see her whole show wich was just magical I even remember weeping at times.
Patti Smith started earlier then Robyn Hitchcock so when I was watching Patti all of a sudden Peter Buck comes in and stands next to me! WHAT? YES! later he walks on stage and starts jamming with Patti they even played everybody hurts, fukkin awesome!

so then Robyn Hitchcock started wich was cool and after the encore is over Lenney Kaye (from the Patti Smith group) comes on and they start jamming for another half an hour, Peter Buck even played some drums.

let me tell you it was one hell of a night! Cameron Crowe could make a movie about it :P

so I woke up this morning headache and all and realised it's been a DAMN good week!

so how about you? what bands blew you away lately?
#83
er.. yeah
sorry I figured that after like ten years of waiting on chinese democracy everyone'd know about it :P
#84
and what a surprise, it ain't that good!
any of you guys heard?
any one else thinks Axl shoulda called it quits 9 years ago?

I seem to remember there are some REM fans on this forum.
I myself am a really big fan and there are lots of rumours of real big REM news being released today!

rumours say former drummer Bill Berry might be joining thhe band again! wich would be KICKASS!

and kinda logical since he drums on the john lennon cover: #9 dream and also played drums on their Rock n roll hall of fame thingy!

anyone else as excited as me?  ;D

General Discussion / Knytt

I was surfing 'round the big ol' world wide web looking at some ICO forum when I found this game.

the Knytt is a small monkey like creature abducted from his homeworld by an alien only to crash on an unknown planet scattering 11 parts from the alien spaceship, it's up to you to gather those lost parts so you can go home again!

easy story, easy gameplay, easy graphics, hours of fun and wonder!

anyone ever played this one before?

I'm glad you like the mood since I always hoped capturing a mood would be one of my strong points :P
and yes the cloaked guy was seriously scary the lil girl wasn't acting her fright ;)
after your advice I actually borrowed a tripod, but the room was way too small to work it right, so I decided not to use it.

thanks for the nice words!

General Discussion / more indie movie madness!

HUZZAH!

after years of being a lazy-ass poo-hole I decided it was time to...
GO BACK TO SCHOOL! yeehaw!
wich is pretty hard for me since I dropped out of school when I was about fifteen, as some of you old charlatans might remember.
I kinda forgot where I was going with this story but anywho, they (they being the High School for the Arts in Utrecht) accepted me as their student!
wich is awesome! out of 200 people that applied they picked 25, and I'm one of those!
* FruitTree boogies
ah what the heck!
* FruitTree boogies some more!
I'm going to study Audiovisual Media! (movies and television)
and I'm proud to present my 'project', the 3min lasting short that I had to make to become a student at this school.

clicketyclick

so tell me, am I really better than Roman Polanski? (teehee  :=)
no really I'd love to hear comments or critiques or random screams, really anything goes!
but I'll give you a cookie if you say something nice about my flic!
