The last picture is obviously a letter O from the game's font. You know, 'O' as in DOLL. :=

Anyway. I have no idea what to post ATM, so anyone can steal the turn if they like.

One possible mistake one may make when copy/pasting functions, is that by typing manually the function's name to link it to events there can be slight typos. Note that the script language is case sensitive, so if the function's name is room_FirstLoad() in the script and one types Room_FirstLoad() to link from an event it won't work.

If you start from scratch to add a function to an event the editor will automatically generate the (empty) function in the script, which should always work as it's free of such typos.

So, one advice in copy/pasting functions is, do not copy the whole function but only its content (i.e. without the declaration line function xxxx(){ and the last }). You can then generate the empty function in the destination event and then paste the copied stuff inside the function body.

Just a guess. Maybe there are some transparent rows of pixels under the feet of the character sprites, so that the baseline of the character appear lower than his feet, making him shifted upwards?

I don't know what is what in the codes, but one wild guess, what is this.width?
Would it be the width or a sprite or whatever?
In this case there may be a potential problem when the width of a sprite is an odd number, as dividing it by 2 is an integer operation that truncates the decimal part, you may end up subtracting 1 fewer pixel, causing the final coordinate to just hit beyond the screen border.

Correct!

Just passed by his page in Wikipedia. Seems that he's involved in much more design works than one could expect.

Your turn.

You're on the right track though.

Just to make life easier. This game was on the same platform as the last entry, and unlike the last one, (I think) this was released also in the west, and had connection to a certain big name, so it should be a relatively easy guess despite the obscurity of the game.

The original Cho Aniki for PCE was actually more or less a port/homage/re-imaging/spiritual-successor/parody/whatever of Gynoug for the Mega Drive. They were made by the same people, but for some reason they added an intentionally lame plot to it and it worked, making it into a series, with weirder and weirder sequels. For example, Ai Cho Aniki is the first sequel (also for PCE), which instead of an ordinary shooter, they hyped up the gaybody-building aspect and introduced features like command driven special moves (think Street Fighter). The other games in the series just looked crappier (VERY probably intentional as well) and crappier (for example the games for the PS and Saturn used digitised graphics like Mortal Kombat).

Okay. Next!
