Nope, there're actually some new computers without built-in speakers. Moreover, my computers at home were all assembled ourselves, and we didn't bother putting teh Speakers in them.

Hmmm it's been long ago, but I was stuck there too, I remembered I had asked Greg for it, and he said that there may be some glitch in the game that you can bump into a walking dead. So you probably to replay the game from scratch...

I remembered there's a walkthrough somewhere, but I can't find it now. :p

It's been hidden in teh Blue Cup. ;D

Because they're uncompressed, and are really big. Take the first one in this thread for example, it's nearly 1MB in size, which loaded annoyingly slow for most people, especially for people who have only dial up connections. Moreover, some browsers may not display BMP correctly. BMP is not meant to be shown on the net. You got to use JPG , PNG or GIF for posting them on the net, apart from possible minor loss in details, they help MUCH in reducing the bandwidth usage.

There're lots of way to write timed action. In fact, there're already timers defined internally to the engine, read about SetTimer() and IsTimerExpired() from

Text Script Functions -> Game/Global Functions

Section of the AGS manual.

You can also set up a counter which you can increment it every game loop, etc. (An example is in
Text Scripting Tutorial -> Tutorial Part 2
of the Manual)

Of course, you can also the clock functions, etc.

There're so many ways to do that, and I'm just too lazy busy to come out with an concrete example at the moment. ;D

I'm not argueing which one is better, i just want discussion.. And what i say is only my opinion. (Seems like people here don't get that... I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion. ) but what i say about Microsoft being barbaric and its OS being mostly unstable is true...  Microsoft licenced that Unix kernel thing, and now sent warnings to Linux companies that they're using a kernel that has stolen code.  They say the end user is responsible for using the stolen software and this might lead to court. Microsoft said the the reason for licencing it was that they want to improve compatibility...  =)
I think UNIX was open-source OS, until Microsoft... hah hah ..
And what do you call that? Aren't they desperate? They're even paying for Mexico to use their software, coz they were going to use Linux.  That is funny thing..
::)

Then I think it's already out of scoop of this forum's purpose, as it's off topic now, better move such kind of discussion to the Gen. Gen. forum, but I doubt many people would be interested in such discussion, since the forums here are basically for the discussion of AGS and related stuff, or private secrets of AGSers, which few people will discuss about OSes.

Nope, and unfortunately not many people have an internal speaker (eg. me) any more so they won't be able to hear the music.

The best way is to make MOD files with cheesy samples like the speaker tones.

No uncompressed wincrap BMPs please.

Now where did that "NO BMP" warning picture CJ implemented earlier go?

I think that's just some crap internet spying programme, that when they find a page with a url AND an email address, they just send a mail about promoting that say url to the email address.

In other words, just annoying SPAM.

Heh no matter what the argument is, I'm in fact feeling a bit sorry about the abuse use of the poll function in the old forums, if I didn't make the suggestion to enable it in teh first place...

That unless we can guarantee it's not misused, there're some unhappy issues happened in the old forums...

Very much like they're having different palettes, which can cause problems in some settings.

I don't know what programme you're using to draw them, but "better" programmes might have a function, that when you save a pic in 256 colours you can specify a custom palette. The trick is, save the first in 256 colours, and use the palette in the first as a custom palette.

I myself would rather use a native 256 colour editting tool (DP and the such), so this is mostly the fault of crappy truecolour window$ programmes.

IMO his body and legs can be shorter, considering the cartoony style of his face (ie like a ball for his face, another ball for his body), and don't know why, he reminds me of King Pin :D
#7755
Actually IMO, it'll be great if the speed of the character is as fast as teh original animation GIF in the game, because he looks funnier when he walks faster, and the fast speed well suits the graphic style.
#7756
hmmm you said it's V2.50, so maybe you should try out the newest stable version, V2.54.

(Always back up the game files before switching AGS version for safety)
#7757
Change your windows desktop res. to 640x480 when drawing the characters (which may not be possible for crappy winXP), then, when importing the graphics in AGSEdit, check "Import for 640x400" first.
#7758
See PlaySoundEx() text script function from the manual, you may also check out its related functions.

This function is available since AGS V2.53.
#7759
hmmmm by 640x480x16 did you mean 16 colours or 16 bit hicolour?
#7760
Nice pic. again :D , though I think the position you placed your name is a bit funny (looks like you're run over...)

Hmmm the only problem is that I don't quite know whether it's in a forest at night, or inside a dark cave with shinny metal mines.

* Gilbot V7000a won't say any more things, he's just jealous as he can never draw that good.
