I don't want to sound harsh, but you really should have put more effort/time on the graphics or at least hired someone that would. We are not "This game's graphics rocks, so that's an awesam game, lol" guys, but do you really expect the players to pay for a game with backgrounds consisting of irrelevant layers? It takes hours, days to complete a background of an adventure game, no matter commercial or freeware.

And a "free demo"?

There are better ways to gain money.

For the record, I have been taking schizophrenia treatment for about one year. The "suicidal/violent chapter" header just reminded me of my own new game's first chapter: The puzzle is how to commit suicide of the main character (and I must confess that's the only completed chapter, my progress is like a turtle). I sympathize with you for creating such a violent scene, it was the way I could express myself.

But that's not a proper way to introduce (I dislike the word "advertise") your works. I have made and been making some pretty artworks and tiny games/softwares which are not horror themed or involved with my mental problems. If you want the concern of people, just create something good that would interest them.

Well, many big companies like Ubisoft, Valve are using a noticable security precautions on their games, which were successfully cracked eventually, as I know. I don't think a cracker would spend his/her all time on a single shareware game, but they could crack the SecureFile system itself in order to reach the other games that use it.

I wouldn't implement a security protection on my game when I start working on commercial ones, because I believe not a majority of people would pay for my game just because they couldn't pass the security and play the game illegally. Wouldn't want to bother the players with something that can be easily passed.

If you're new to torrenting, remember to keep track of how much you're uploading. If it's bizzaro stuff like hard to find books or eccentric music no ones heard of, you won't get any nasty letters from your ISP about downloading or copyright infringement, but seed some of those more popular torrents and you can quickly go from uploading a few mb to a few gig in no time. I always set uTorrent to shut down when downloads complete, and delete torrents as soon as they are done downloading. It's kind of an ass thing to do, but I seed those hard to find rarities of the internet. At least for a little while.

There's an upload limit option in BitTorrent. My upload limit usually gets set to about 30 kB/s everytime I start the PC, I set it to Unlimited whenever the PC is working and I'm not using the net.

And there is a chat section in Ares, a p2p tool. I thought it would be interesting to use this chat, but the users are mostly jerks. Don't expect something good.

Splendid! I loved the composing and the other actings ("I love çoklet as Christmas", hahaha!). I sound even better than the real I sound.

If enough people will feel that it's an unfair trade-off (our entire country vs. our coastline) then we should petition Kim Jong Il that maye his intentions are ill-advised. Certainly if enough of us petition him he will see the error of his ways and change. He's a dictator, but only to his own pople, right? So unless he's trying to branch out into other countries as well (fan out over the planet) He will listen to us, right?

I think he can't say 'no' to us if we make a game about this.

I don't have an insult intention, but this threat news reminds me of this proverb: "The barking dog wouldn't bite".

Especially after the Ryugyon Hotel fail, why they can't admit they have been unsuccessful?

General Discussion / Re: Snow!

Turkey has various climates in each region. The city, Erzurum, that my earlier childhood took place was on a cold region, it snowed frequently. Snow tranquilizes me, maybe because of my happiest days taking place on there.

It snows on this region as well, but not as much. But it does still and I love photographing it:

By the way, I remember talking about snow this morning on a journal in deviantArt, she was asking our opinions of snow. It seems like the harm snow caused was really extraordinary today.

Must be because of the addictive effects.

Another disadvantage of the score system is implying the game's end is near if the game shows the maximum score. For example, if you have 94 points in a game that has maximum score of 100, you start expecting the game to end soon.

I dislike the point system, because I feel myself punished for missing a little detail of the game in the end if I can't get the maximum score.

The Rumpus Room / Re: Happy Birthday Thread!

Happy birthday, Babar!

Wow... I can't wait to see these in the game.

And about the camera records, are they only cutscenes or do we have control on them? I know we are not the cameraman, but I think it would be awesome if it is a bit the player's achievement to capture interesting things and the player gets awarded for good records.

Wow, I was away from the forums for a long time, and what the first thing I see is! It made me happy.

I must confess that I dislike Asporia: Hidden Threat now. At least I should had added a better navigation and fighting system.

I knew my birthday would be celebrated worldwide someday!

And I want to thank everyone who helped me to develop my skills somehow and were with me.

I think I will make the highway scene with many frames as a sprite, as the scene isn't going to serve as a real room background.

Yes, the game is in first person view; those last pictures are going to be a cutscene (those are not complete, I am also going to add an angel model to the scene).

I have tried the Chark & Chorcoal filter now (after increasing the contrast of the faces), I hope it looks better now.
#239
Thanks everyone for your comments!

I changed the filter I am using, added next frame onto one with a little transparancy  (and adjusted the color as well) for each frames and this is how the highway looks now.

(The reason why I used 4 frames instead of 5 was just because I couldn't set a good distance that is divided by 5 in Valve Hammer Editor. I think I will make this scene from starting later.)

Smoothed the model's outlines.

And another filter experiment. I am not sure if the burn on the face is obvious after the filter is used. I had to dodge his face in order the filter not to make his face completely black.

They look better now, do they?

Thanks in advance, again.

Yes, I am using the Source engine, as I have stated in my first post.

I am trying to use the Watercolor filter now; I am able to remove the grain effect now but it isn't as good as the first Chalk & Charcoal filter. I think I will search for some extra filters.
