New link is

Should be working now.

I apologise to everyone for that old corrupted file  :-[

Second edit: There is still the corrupted file error! Arrgghh!

Third edit: It seems like only one file, litn.021, was corrupted. I uploaded that file separately.

Oh damn :( I had to upload the game to the host multiple times because of the errors in my FTP software, but this new upload just seemed successful to me, as I could download the .zip file.

But now I am uploading it again.

Gord10 is proud to announce the deluxe version of Lost in the Nightmare;

I have released the deluxe version of my 2005 made AGS game Lost in the Nightmare.
As the original game was already released, you can read the review and/or download the old version of the game  right now from http://reloaded.org/download/Lost-In-Nightmare/116/

*Revisioned graphics

Changed the shadow/highlight and hue/saturation values and adding some extra filters like Diffuse Glow. And remade some of the scenes.
I wanted to give a dark, film-noiristic but still dreamy ambience to the game.

*A new level!

A terrifying extra level will be available to play when you finish the game with the good ending.
Some of the events on this new levels are depended on a decision you make, so it is a replayable level.

*New scenes and extra endings:

I have decided to add more scenes inside the game.
And two extra endings; one of is a death sequence and the other is a secret ending for saving the campers.

Some of the new scenes are going to make the game deserve the mature rating more.

*Bug fix:  Many major and minor bugs are fixed! I should have done this so earlier.
*Proofread: The game script is proofreaded by Jonathan Anson.
*More music: Now I have used some tracks of some of my favourite metal bands, like Rammstein. I can say the tracks I used went very well with some scenes of LitN.

Disclaimer for the original Lost in the Nightmare:

Are you ready for this? Then step into the dark world of Lost In The Nightmare and face your darkest dreams..
An 'interactive horror adventure' with pre-rendered 3D graphics and cutscenes with cinematical camera pitches.
This game is not recommended for the people who is below 18 years old.

The main character is Burak Guney, a private detective who used to work for the police. You are hired to find three university students who got lost in a forest near the Karabalta Town while camping. They have been lost for 3 months and the police couldn't find any clue what happened to them. You'll stay in Karatas Hotel during your investigate (The story will be supported by the cutscenes with cinematical camera pitches).

Pre-rendered 3D backgrounds taken from the Half-Life engine are used in Lost In The Nightmare. I'm preparing the HL maps with Valve Hammer Editor by myself and using modified versions of the textures and models of the mods like They Hunger, Medieval World.

DOWNLOAD (138.8 MB)

I haven't included a bonus trivia document as I had promised, I am sorry about it.

January 8th, 2008 news:
New download link.
The game is now hosted on a much better server.
http://www.bitwise-studios.com/gord10/litn_sos2.zip
So the players get rid of RapidShare and my old crappy host that can corrupt the files while downlad.

Many thanks to Ragnor!

And I apologize to everyone again for this host/download problems. I am ashamed.

Happy birthdays to SSH!

Thank you all!
The game is almost completed, only a 2 or 3 hours of work remained to finish the extra level.

But I decided not to release the game after a complete beta test, I don't want to make the mistake of releasing the game too early (and buggy). I think the beta version will be ready till tomorrow morning.

I will probably release the game on 5th of October, 2008, with the support of Linux.

Currently playing Mount & Blade whenever I am not working (the game is so addictive that my own game's release got too late).

30.12.2007 news:
I'm trying to finish and release the game before 2008. The release date is 31.12.2007, but don't kill me if I can't manage to finish the game till tomorrow.

I decided to remove the special "Characters and Story Trivia" page, as it wasn't completed (I don't have so much time to complete it) and it was a bit too private for me  :-[

The Rumpus Room / Re: The Game Idea Thread

And for my own contribution:

A game set in the imaginary fantasy world of a little boy.  One day, the boy commits suicide, which casts a dark shadow over the fantasy world and allows nightmares to take over.  Can the boy's imaginary friends save their fantasy home from these demons?  Can the fantasy world even exist without the little boy to give it form?  Will the imaginary friends ever get over the grief of their loss?
Etc.

Honestly, this is the most inspiring idea I have ever seen for a long time. I have been building a new game plot in my head for an hour; a plot that is based on your idea, but a bit differently.

Spoiler

The boy attempts to commit suicide by taking pills before sleeping. He is about to die. We begin the game in a comical world as an imaginary friend (actually a story character created by the sleeping boy) who is a private detective (just like Sam & Max). A king and a queen from a far country visits the detective to hire him for finding their lost Prince son (and do I need to tell who the Prince is?).

Another point with the game in my head:
The graphic style (and the world) changes along the levels. The first levels are like Sam & Max, but along the game the style gets darker and we end up on a nightmarish world (Silent Hill!) to witness the reasons why the boy attempted to commit suicide.

[close]

How is this? I really want to finish the plot and start working on this game as soon as possible, the game I wanted to make after Lost in the Nightmare was like this.

*Cough cough*
I knew I have forgotten something. I forgot giving the news of something.

I had released the source codes (the AGS template, actually) of Asporia: Hidden Threat.
http://dosya.coolbluegames.com/gizlitehdit_kaynak.zip
But it is an old game; doesn't use the new object based AGS scripts.

This could be helpful to the ones who would want to make a RPG with AGS, though.

@Mirek
Maybe the problem is on GUI itself (like its Z coordinate being below any other GUI). Have you tried running this code on somewhere else (like a hotspot code) in order to see whether the problem is the GUI/GUI code itself or the block you use for repeatedly_execute?
#290
Nice work; I'm really glad that my source codes were used :)

But there were bugs (actually I think they were also in my own source code):
*The HP's which were greater than 0 are not restored on the next rounds. You could fix it adding "HP = 30" codes in Player Enters Room. (The integer names of the HP variables weren't "HP" actually, some other things else, but I couldn't remember them)

*This happens for the character views of the defeated character, also. You could add "SetCharacerView(EGO (or ENEMY), 4 I don't remember if it was really 4; this is the default view of the characters" to Player Enters Room (Before Fade In) like above.

I failed to understand the concept of this 'seal of quality' completely, but I think it is OK.
#292
Also, as those are not commercial games, I don't think it would be too important to put a real copyright note.

It would be enough to write "Based on Gord10's "Ahmet's AGS Fight Game" from The Great Stroke-Off 2005 by Barbarian" on the credits (yes, I know this came up as a complex credits sentence).
#293
Sure, feel free to use it :)
I think the date should be 7 April 2005; when "The Great Stroke-Off!" was released.
#294
"I mean, you cant choose classmates, but you can choose friends. Why do I gather friends that are different than me?"

If your friends are the only ones who you managed to be friends and there is no someone like you around you and you couldn't be friend with those indifferent people; then this is the reason.

"Why do I live in a society that is different than me?"
You are not the only person who lived in a society different than them. They develop their own characteristics being independent from their environment, and they move to another society when the time comes. Maybe you meet your own kind of people if you move to another place for school/work, etc.? You know, it is early to decide you are too different from the society when you are 17.
#295
"Shy" is the most correct word for this sitation, I think. And you are just different from the society you are in; that's all.

You can be sure, drinking not is not worse as drinking (heh, I guess this was a weird sentence, but you got the point). Me and some of my friends are slowly being alcoholics, this is not good.
#296
Burglar!

(I think you looked like a burglar more than a pirate in that black mask, suit, etc.)

And in order not to get out of the topic;
#297
Thanks for your concern :) Yes, the game is 'still on way'.

To be honest; I didn't take care of the game as much as I should had, due to some private psychological issues (also the stress of my country being in war should be added to these). I'm not still in a good mood today; but I was already planning to spend my day on PC making the game even before seeing this post. I think the best things to do is to continue on working hard.

General Discussion / Re: School shootings
Sun 14/10/2007 12:20:45
@InCreator: I couldn't agree more :/

I ended up being someone acceptable in the society as I haven't committed a serious crime of violence during my youth despite of everything done to me. But I still can't help feeling a little regret for not going to the school with my father's gun someday and killed/injuried the bullies whenever I see the news of school shootings. I would end up in jail and every good things in my life would collupse, but am still not sure my life would be worse.

Completed version of Lost in the Nightmare 1 is only in English, but I think you are referring to the demo of the Lost in the Nightmare 2: Unforgettable Memories or the first demo Lost in the Nightmare 1, as they were the ones that included both Turkish and English language options.

As Pablo said, you can change the language from the setup.exe after downloading the demos of LitN 2:UM or LitN 1.

P.S: I'm grateful finally someone but me started a topic in 'Adventure-related talk' about my game ^_^
