We all have a Big Brother. He sees all us. And now he will lock this thread. (or delete for us to forget all of these; OMG, nineteen-eightyfour!)

But anyway, this is oooold.

As this is your own AGS game, you can feel free to use one of these services: http://americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Hosting_services

I hope they see CNN website as a reliable source :)

Edit: And probably; an article, I wrote about freeware adventure game developing with tools like AGS and WME, will be published in Level, one of the most famous game magazines in Turkey (and aslo Czech Republic and Romania) for the October issue. Maybe also it can be considered as a reliable source, too; when it is published?

EDIT:// Oh, just red the last post! Well, the idea itself is not bad but what fun will the admin get?

I think it would be quite enjoyful to roleplay as an unpeaceful ghost :)
As both the 'caller' and the 'ghost' are not AI, the opportunites are unlimited (and also as the ghost has the ability to "modify" the mansion).

Hello all.
At first, I want to apologise for necroposting this old thread. I couldn't be sure if I should start a new topic.
I came up with a game idea this morning that I would want to share with you.
If I would start anew thread, it would be "Server based AGS games".

Now imagine a single-player adventure game that takes place in a -probably haunted- mansion (like Scratches). The player character is to solve a paranormal mystery (or something like that; maybe a crime).

What different is; it is possible to have a ceremony to call a spirit/genie with a seance.
Let me explain something; there is a certain type of spirit calling: Some papers with the all alphabet letters and "yes", "no" are arranged on the desk, and when the spirit comes, it moves a cup on the desk to the papers; for answering the questions of the callers.
When it rains in the game; this ceremony becomes possible to do.

And why this is about internet servers:
*The spirit is not AI. It is controlled by the admin of the game. The admin would lead the player to hints, or the inverse.
Why the rain is necessary for the seance? It only rains when an admin/mod is available.
*The content of the game is can be changed by the admin. The players get an account on servers first; and the admin can change some variables in the account. For example, whenever the player enters the bathroom, the variables about bathroom on server are checked. If  Var(100)==0, the player sees the bathroom in an ordinary way. But if the player taunts the spirit, the admin can change the value to 2. I left it to your imaginary what could happen when PC enters bathroom :)

Well, I'm seriously planning to make this game. But I'm not sure if this could be achieved with AGS. First of all, a server based control panel would be requiered.
I think some other programming language is necessary for such a game.
Anyway, I'm waiting for your comments.

P.S: May I start a topic about this game in Adventure Related Talk?

Yes, still thinking of it. Didn't proceed much, though.

I'm not sure about adding the extra level where we play as Lost One (before him selling his soul to demons). I have its story in my mind; but that scenario would not be such a scary game experience. Maybe someday I would release that extra level as another game. Actually I am just unsure if a Deluxe version is such necassary..

There will be a 1.2 version (that is not Deluxe; just v1.2) as soon as the proofreading and betatesting is completed. Some little bugs and my crappy English script will be fixed in v1.2

This v1.2 is actually just for the new players who will be downloading the game first time. And the most important; they won't need to  struggle with patches, they will have downloaded the unbugged version.

Spoiler
When you hit the demon about 5 times (I am not sure It remember how much shots exactly they were), he falls onto his knees, leading some other sequences. If he approaches you, he 'kills' you; but as this is just a dream, you wake up when he catches you.
Everytime you shoot him, he flinches back with a painful groan; you can understand you really shooted him then.

Oh, by the way;
*Thank you all for your comments!
*Let me announce something. LitN 2 is no more (for now). Gave up.
I just think it's story is not as pretty as the LitN 1; I didn't want a clichêd (and probably crappy) horror game sequel, just like in the commercial horror movies. And also there were some personal reasons why I gave up that...
But I'm currently working on something else with AGS. You can think of this the REAL sequel of LitN 1; even though this new game has a completely different story.
http://coolbluegames.com/magnum.jpg I will start a new topic when everything is ready for an announce.

I just played one of my first games yesterday. Pedestrian In Danger. A GameMaker game I made about 3 or 4 years ago.
I was annoyed. The game was so lame...
It was entartaining; but the controls and the gameplay were too hard that it was too easy to give up. But it also created addiction once the control system is used to.

Well, there are also some 'monsters I created' like Escape From The Zombie City, Plane Numbered 13; I don't want to remember them.

@Neelhound:
Yes, it is possible to use your own character views, sprites etc. You just need to replace your own scripts codes inside the default Fight Game codes. For example, if View 8 is executed in the default game when the player punches, you just need to replace AnimateCharacter(ENE,8,10,0); with AnimateCharacter(ENE,yourownnumbers,yourownnumbers,0);

But I must say these codes are for experienced AGS users; you can feel hardness if you are still beginner for AGS Script.

I Hope I could be helpful.

Marduk will strike on Earth on 2012. So we don't need to worry about the hard pronounciation of the years after 2100.
Yay! ^_^

Anyway, I think people would pronounce 21 as something like "twnty'one" or "tw'antn".

Doesn't look bad. Good luck for finishing this one.

This is an AGS game, yeah?
