I think the picture looks okay.
But if I were you, I would make it darker. Changed some of the hue/saturation settings.

I hope everyone was pleased with the rules ._.

Downloaded and played a bit.
Looks good :) Are you planning to release an English translation? Because I could understand none of the jokes as I don't know German; just able to solve the puzzles.

[offtopic]You won't believe this; I was just thinking someone should post for teh M$Pa1nt game, and was working on a "Shemp" thing, and would upload it.[/offtopic]

Next:The fake reason his internet goes down so often...

Edit: Ah, now realised that the link was broken. Uploaded the picture to ImageShack.
Edit 2: And now realised that I had posted the thumbnail, instead of the full picture. Now fixed. Sorry :( Careless me...

I think this is not such a bad idea. Especially 5DaS had a story and atmosphere that is better than lots of commercial adventure games. It would sell more with high res. 3D graphics and longer game playtimes, IMO.

I mean can violence be referred to in speech (such as "I remember back when I kicked that merchant's arse real good") or in threats ("Give me all your money or I'll rip your throat"). Or can there be abstract violence far in the background ("The war had gone on for three years now and food was getting scarce.")?
It's OK.
The reason I put that rule is that I wanted to avoid the entries to be a simple stories of "And Alzakhar's orc horde attacked the hobbit village" wars or "Kill the skeletons, take the crystal" quests. So the entries would be something unique (like that two stars-ghost-empty universe story).

QuoteAh, that's where we differ, and I'm very happy that it made you think on that. :) Not 100% perfect and justifiable, but if it made you wonder, that's more than I could have asked for.
Yes, I can imagine how you felt. I would feel happy if somebody would think about the moral dilemmas in Lost In The Nightmare (btw, you will need to wait for the full version for that dilemmas). This is really encouraging for the art; if art serves for expressing our opinions.

QuoteThe very motivation was the whole "There can't be good without bad" idea, which I quite agree on - I think that the first piece is an accurate rendition of what I believe would happen if there were no bad things that'd make us treasure the good things (or even bother to create some!).
Yes, I had gotten this message. This was what I was just thought yesterday morning: The evil exists for the comprehension of the treasure of good.
But I still think that we could be happy without the evil. Comprehension isn't necessary for happiness (like sheeps in a horde.).

I liked both of the stories :) I just want to ask some moral things in the first story.

Quote
There is no hate, so there is no love.
No law, for there is no one to break it.
No passion, for there is no despair.
Peace rules over all, world without end, amen, can you say Hallelujah, as you walk, walk, walk on.
I had been thinking about these sentences since I read the story first time. Do you think that kind of world wouldn't be good? In my opinion, Love could exist without Hate. (My thoughts may be wrong, though. Because while playing Silent Hill 3, I was taking the side of the Cult who wants to destroy the universe with a new god, to destroy the pain. I hope it isn't something pathetic with me.)

Wow, teh quick!
Yes, I think it's a nice entry, and can be accepted.

Here is the rules for the new Monthly Writing Competition.
- Participants will write a story not limited by length unless specified by the month's rules;
- It's impossible for a judge to be impartial in this kind of competition where, for instance, great writing can save a meager plot. So the voting will be public, and go on for at least a week after the deadline, when the winner will be announced.
- The deadline itself is, as said before, monthly, but as usual some slack is given. Don't abuse it, though. Five days after the "oficcial" deadline no further entries are allowed and voting begins, but this tolerance is not mandatory, rather left to the thread-starter's description.
- The competition should last a month. Therefore, this particular one will run until the 4th of September.
- The actual posts must NOT contain the story, but a link to it. The story MUST be hosted somewhere, even if temporarily - Rui suggests Microtech ( http://12.22.230.41/MicroTech/Hosting/FileHostingHome.html ), which automatically deletes your file after whatever time you select.
  - The object of this is to write a story. It can be a short story with 10 lines, it can be a whooper with 20 pages. It can have no characters, or a myriad of them. It can be in first person, or third; present or past of future tense. Your ONLY limitations are the ones the rules state, if any.
- The winner provides the theme and rules for the next comp.

And now the rules of this month:

FANTASY

Write a story which takes place in a fantastic world created by your imaginary. Like The Lord of The Rings, DragonLance.
-But the story MUSTN'T contain wars and any kind of violence.
I mean, you are not allowed to write a story which tells a knight's quest of finding a charmed diamond protected by skeletons. I'm putting this rule, because I think there would be more creative entries about fantasy. And a hint:
-The entry MAY be written in the style of the Situation Story (like Anton Chehov's short stories).
I mean; you don't have to tell some unexpected events in the story, but telling only a situation. For example; a short story about a universe that includes only two stars, and a ghost. The ghost has an eternal life, and all the thing he could do is lurking around the empty universe. Another example; a short story about a little, humanoid life form (like Smurfs :) ) which lives in a planet of tropical islands. Just tell what you imagine.

I hope the rules aren't too strict. I just wanted entries to be original.
Good luck :)

Cool :) The first time I won something in AGS Forums.
Guess I should determine and announce the rules of the next competition starting a new topic, yeah? (I want to be sure for not doing something wrong.)

Thanks :) Well, I could use a translator for the Spanish articles.
Edit: By the way, I could upload and give you a link to the completed parts of the game; for helping the preview.
#795
Cool :) Could you review my current AGS game when it's finished? (I would be glad if you could also preview  := )

OK, now I see. Thanks for reply :)

Hey, I knew about him. I follow the reviews in the Independent Adventuring column regularly.
Only thing I don't like is that I think the he could sympathize with the developers much more while reviewing the games. I mean, he sometimes writes discouraging things like "There's nothing to see here. Move along.", "You'll have the chance to cringe at even more bad jokes, including one that really turned my stomach. Avoid this title.". Yes, I can understand the point: protecting the players from the bad games. But if I were you, I would also think about the feelings of the developers. These words would be so discouraging for the young person who made their first game; and they wouldn't want to make another games after reading that comments.
Though, I like  the Independent Adventuring column much. Thanks for reviewing AGS games :)
#798
Yes, it was funny :)
#799
Thanks, guys :) But I'm afraid to say that the game will be released later than I expected :( Because I'm editing and re-making some graphics. For example, I discovered how I could add a fog like in Silent Hill; and just now I'm trying to add the fog into the game.

Before the operation.

After the operation.

Thanks :) Hearing this made me feel better. Yes, you're right about the length of the game. Because I couldn't came up with a good idea until the 5th day of the competition, and I couldn't came up with something good about what would happen to the campers after one of them got lost.
Though I am still not thinking of releasing the game even as including the next rooms and events which makes it a real adventure game...
